"Are you sure that's everything?"
In the forest, Naruto looked at Goku with suspicion. If he couldn't sense Goku's sincerity, he would have thought he was being pranked.
"This time, I'm sure that's it," Goku said with a completely serious face.
Come to think of it, he had never actually taught someone how to sense the ki within their own body.
Whether it was his son Gohan, his granddaughter Pan, or even his dedicated student Uub, they had all been able to sense ki on their own.
At most, he had only taught them some methods for using ki and different fighting techniques.
"Alright, I'll try again then."
After confirming there were no more steps, Naruto closed his eyes and began to search for the hidden energy within his body that Goku had described.
A long while later, he opened his eyes, a little excited. "Is it this?"
As he spoke, a light blue energy appeared in the palm of his hand.
"Hmm..."
Goku leaned forward, bringing his head closer to examine the energy in Naruto's hand carefully.
After a moment, he stroked his chin with a strange expression. "It looks a little similar, but it's probably not it."
At first glance, this energy didn't seem different from ki, but in his perception, there were some subtle differences. As for what those differences were, he couldn't quite tell.
"Huh? It's not?" Hearing Goku's denial, Naruto was a bit lost. "But this is the energy I sensed inside my body."
"Is that so? Hahaha, then I don't really get it either," Goku said, scratching his head with a troubled smile.
Suddenly, he remembered what Shenron had told him about other worlds having their own unique training systems. His eyes lit up.
'Could that be the reason? If that's the case, then it means they have both ki and this unique energy inside their bodies.'
He felt a flash of insight and explained his theory to Naruto.
"You're saying I have two types of energy in my body?" Naruto's face scrunched up, and he felt a headache coming on.
"This is so complicated. Why do I have two types of energy? If that's the case, which one should I train?"
He crossed his arms, closed his eyes, and fell into a state of deep conflict.
After a moment, as if he had figured something out, he opened his eyes and declared with absolute certainty, "I've made up my mind! I'm still going to train in ki!"
Because he often slept in class, he had no idea that chakra training was the orthodox method for people in his world.
Furthermore, having witnessed the power of 'ki' firsthand, he remained determined to pursue its training.
Having made his decision, he clapped his hands together and announced his goal. "I'm going to sense my ki within 15 minutes!"
With that, he closed his eyes, ready to continue the search for the ki hidden within him. But just then, Goku suddenly placed a hand on his head. A few seconds later, he let go.
?
Naruto looked at Goku with a confused expression, but Goku just smiled. "It's nothing, go on."
And so, Naruto began to search for his ki again.
What he didn't know was that the reason Goku had placed a hand on his head was because Shenron had just informed Goku that, in this different world, due to its various rules, living beings could not sense the ki hidden within themselves on their own.
To be able to feel it, they needed Shenron's help.
Meanwhile, after giving Sasuke and Sakura some instructions, Kakashi followed the tracks left by Naruto and Goku.
Although he could tentatively confirm that Goku held no ill will towards them and, in fact, seemed quite friendly, Goku's sudden appearance and mysterious origins meant he still had to be cautious.
Upon seeing Naruto drag Goku outside, he had quietly followed them.
Partly, he wanted to see what Naruto was up to with the stranger. And partly, he wanted to protect Naruto.
Naruto was not only his student, but also the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, and more importantly, the only son of his late teacher.
In the past, due to his own period of despair, he had failed to help his teacher look after his child.
Now that he had taken his teacher's son on as his own student, he felt he had to make up for the years of neglect.
"Hm? What are they...?"
He soon followed the tracks and found a hiding spot in a large tree not far from Naruto and Goku, from where he could observe them.
He immediately saw the two of them sitting cross-legged on the ground.
"What are they doing?"
His mind was full of questions, but he didn't reveal himself; instead, he continued watching quietly.
Over the next while, he witnessed Naruto jumping around in frustration, then sitting back down, and then producing chakra in his hand.
Following that, after Goku said something, Naruto loudly declared that he was going to train in ki.
"Ki?"
Hearing this word again, Kakashi grew even more puzzled. What exactly was ki? And what was this ki training that Naruto was talking about?
Fifteen minutes passed.
Half an hour passed.
Then another half an hour went by.
In the clearing, Naruto opened his eyes, grinding his teeth in frustration. "Damn it! Why can't I sense it?"
For the past hour, he had been constantly searching for the ki within his body, but he couldn't find it at all.
With his impatient personality, being able to persist for this long was already his limit. Now, he couldn't take it anymore and had to pause his training.
"You can't rush this sort of thing."
Across from him, Goku, who had also been sitting cross-legged the entire time, looked at him and said, "Back when I started, it took me quite a while to succeed."
"Oh, is that right?"
Naruto's face scrunched up in thought. Remembering his reason for doing all this, he took a deep breath.
"Alright! I won't give up! I'm the man who's going to become Hokage, how can a little thing like this defeat me!"
With that, he closed his eyes again, calmed his mind, and continued to feel for his ki.
Time trickled by.
Soon, two hours had passed.
Kakashi, who had been hiding in the tree all this time, was starting to feel his legs go numb from squatting.
His visible, listless eye glanced at the gradually setting sun, and he sighed in exasperation.
'Just what is Naruto doing?'
'And what am I doing?'
'Wasting so much time here just to watch the two of them meditate?'
He knew Zabuza could attack again at any moment, and right now, only Sasuke, Sakura, and a single shadow clone he had left behind were in the village.
Although a shadow clone possessed a certain degree of strength and could delay Zabuza for some time, allowing his real self to return, it was still a risk.
What if he didn't make it back in time?
At this thought, he decided to reveal himself and take Naruto back to prevent any unforeseen trouble as darkness fell.
But just as he stood up, before he could leap down into the clearing, a loud and excited voice suddenly rang out.
"I can feel it!!"
In the clearing, Naruto, who had been sitting for a very long time, suddenly opened his eyes and stared intently at the palm of his hand.
A faint wisp of white energy had appeared, swirling just above it.
"Goku, look! Is this it?" Naruto quickly held his hand out to Goku and asked anxiously.
Through his persistence and effort, he had finally discovered this energy within his body.
Although his intuition told him it was ki, he didn't dare to be certain and wanted Goku to be the judge.
Whoosh~
However, before Goku could confirm it, the ki in his palm dissipated due to his lapse in concentration.
"Huh? Where did it go?" Seeing the ki vanish, he scratched his face in frustration.
"You have to focus your mind to guide it out," Goku reminded him.
Hearing Goku's advice, Naruto calmed himself down, closed his eyes, and tried again.
A few seconds later, he successfully guided the ki out once more, and it swirled in his hand.
This time, he did his best to maintain his presence, carefully extending his hand toward Goku.
"That's right. This is ki." After sensing it for a moment, Goku confirmed that the energy Naruto was now guiding was indeed ki.
"I... I did it?"
Hearing Goku's confirmation, Naruto stared blankly at his own palm. In his moment of distraction, the ki vanished once again.
But this time, he wasn't frustrated. Instead, he suddenly leaped three feet into the air.
"I did it! Hahahaha!!"
After landing, he put his hands on his hips and laughed triumphantly.
And just as he was laughing his heart out, a figure suddenly landed in front of him. It was Kakashi, who had been hiding in the tree for a long time.
"Yo! You finally came down," Goku said, waving with a smile upon seeing Kakashi.
Hearing Goku's greeting, Kakashi stumbled, looking at Goku in disbelief. "You knew I was here all along?"
"Yep."
"...When did you find out?"
"The moment you arrived."
"..."
Kakashi was speechless. So why in the world did he spend three hours squatting in a tree?!
