"What?!"
"Kakashi-sensei, how could you do that?"
Upon learning that Kakashi had been secretly watching him train all afternoon, Naruto's face scrunched into a knot.
This was his secret, the special skill he was planning to unveil to everyone. He couldn't believe Kakashi already knew about it right after he had started learning.
In response, Kakashi said, "Do you have any idea how dangerous it was for you to run off like that? Zabuza could attack at any moment. Do you really think you can beat him?"
"But Goku was with me," Naruto muttered, shrinking his neck and glancing at Goku. Seeing the look, Goku didn't say anything, just offered a smile.
"Ahem, Mr. Goku has only known us for a short time. Do you really feel comfortable asking him to protect you?"
Kakashi coughed a few times, a look of exasperation on his face.
He couldn't admit that a small part of the reason he followed them was that he was still a little wary of the stranger.
"I know I was wrong, Kakashi-sensei. But can you please not tell Sasuke that I'm training in ki?"
Naruto realized he was in the wrong and apologized readily, but he absolutely did not want Sasuke to find out about this beforehand.
"That's not a problem. But I have a question. What is this 'ki' you're talking about?" Kakashi had heard the word multiple times now, but he still couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be.
"Huh? You don't know, Kakashi-sensei?" Naruto scratched his head in confusion.
In his mind, the amazing Kakashi-sensei should at least know what it was, even if he couldn't use it.

A question mark appeared over Kakashi's head. "Why would I know about that?"
Seeing this, Naruto gave an awkward laugh and then replied, "Ki is the hidden energy inside our bodies."
Having studied so diligently this time, he recited the concept of ki effortlessly, a complete contrast to the poor student he was at the Academy.
'The hidden energy inside our bodies? Isn't that just chakra? Why is this kid making up new terms?'
Upon hearing the answer, a flash of exasperation crossed Kakashi's listless eye.
"Naruto, that's not called ki, it's called chakra. What on earth were you doing during your time at the Academy?"
At that moment, he couldn't help but feel a slight doubt about the quality of education provided by the Academy's teachers.
"Chakra? What's that?" Naruto's face was a mask of pure confusion.
'I think I've heard that before? Where did I hear it?' He scratched his head, unable to recall where he had heard the term.
"It's the hidden energy in the body you were talking about. Here, look,"
Kakashi explained patiently, despite his inner frustration. He gathered chakra in his hand and showed it to him.
"Oh! So that's called chakra!"
Naruto leaned in for a closer look and immediately recognized the blue energy as the same stuff he had guided out at the very beginning.
"Yes, this is called chakra, not ki," Kakashi said, breathing a sigh of relief.
He thought Naruto had finally realized his mistake. It was a good thing he had managed to correct him, or it would have been a real headache.
He never expected that Naruto's next words would strike him like a bolt from the blue.
"But what I'm training isn't that. It's ki."
Before Kakashi could recover from his confusion, Naruto closed his eyes. A moment later, a wisp of white energy appeared in his hand.
"What is this?" Kakashi's eyes narrowed as he sensed this unknown energy that was similar to chakra. Countless questions flooded his mind.
What the hell is that?
After a lengthy explanation, Kakashi finally understood what ki was, but his confusion had only grown.
For example, why did the human body contain this other type of energy? How did one train it? Who had invented this method?
Thinking of this, he turned his gaze to the source of all these questions. "Mr. Goku, I've had a question on my mind for a while. Who are you, or perhaps, where do you come from?"
Whether it was his attire, his training methods, or even his appetite, Goku was vastly different from them.
This led Kakashi to endless speculation. Could there be unknown places outside the world of shinobi, inhabited by people like Goku?
"I'm from Earth," Goku, who had been listening to their conversation quietly, replied with a simple-minded grin, rubbing his head.
"As for who I am, I guess you could call me a traveler right now."
Goku looked up at the sky, his gaze seeming to pierce through the barriers of the world to see his friends and family living peacefully back on Earth.
Earth? A traveler?
Hearing the answer, Kakashi felt that his guess hadn't been far off.
Although he didn't know where Earth was, he figured it must be some place outside the Elemental Nations.
That would explain how Goku was different from them. With this thought, the last traces of wariness he held towards Goku vanished completely.
As long as Goku wasn't from another hidden village, it was highly unlikely he would do anything to harm them.
His earlier act of saving Naruto further cemented this conclusion.
"We're back!" Naruto shoved the door open and swaggered in with his hands behind his head.
He then looked at Tazuna's daughter, Tsunami, and said, "Tsunami-san, we're having a feast tonight!"
Hearing this, Tsunami, who was in front of the stove preparing dinner, looked over with a surprised expression. "A feast?"
Outside, Kakashi looked at the two enormous wild boars slung over Goku's shoulders, and a few drops of cold sweat trickled down his forehead.
On their way back, Goku had suddenly disappeared. When he rejoined them, he was carrying two giant boars, cheerfully calling them "tonight's dinner."
This sparked a terrifying thought in Kakashi's mind: 'Don't tell me this guy's appetite is like that for every meal? And besides, each of these boars must weigh thousands of pounds.'
'It's one thing for this guy to be able to carry them on his shoulders, but he makes it look completely effortless? What kind of terrifying strength is that?'
'That level of power would rank among the very top in the entire shinobi world.'
Although he had already made a high assessment of Goku's strength, he had no idea that the power Goku had shown so far was merely the tip of the iceberg.
In the future, when Goku displayed even greater control, his jaw would drop in astonishment.
"Th-that's way too much, isn't it?" Tsunami came outside and her mouth fell open in shock at the sight of the two massive boars.
It would take them forever to finish two animals that large.
"This one is for you guys to eat," Goku said with a smile, placing one of the boars on the ground.
He then pointed to the other one still on his shoulder. "And this one is for me."
Though Goku often appeared carefree and simple-minded, he was actually quite perceptive.
During lunch, he had noticed the exchange between Tazuna and Kakashi and understood that Tazuna's family had spent a lot to feed him.
So, when he went hunting for his own dinner, he made sure to catch the boar's mate as well, as a way of repaying the family's kindness.
And so, it was a joyous outcome for all parties involved. A world where only the wild boars were hurt had been achieved.
In the blink of an eye, the next day arrived.
Since Tazuna had to work on the bridge, Kakashi took Sasuke and Sakura with him to ensure his safety.
He also planned to teach them some chakra control exercises along the way. As for Naruto, he temporarily entrusted him to Goku.
On one hand, he now felt relatively at ease with Goku and believed he would not do anything to harm Naruto.
On the other hand, Naruto was determined to train in the art of ki, and he was curious to see what would come of it.
If nothing came of it, it wouldn't be too late for Naruto to resume his chakra training.
Meanwhile, Zabuza had dispatched Haku to gather intelligence on them.
