Chapter 1 - Starting off with a Bang

Deyja smirked as he walked home, ignoring the sheets of rain hammering against him. It was the kind of downpour that stung bare skin, sounding like a thousand pebbles bouncing off the pavement. And though he liked to think of himself as invincible, even he felt the bite of it. Still, he decided to endure rather than do something lame like run for cover.

You will NOT make me bend to your will, Deyja informed the imaginary personification of nature in his head.

Nature, unfortunately, didn't appreciate that. The sky rumbled ominously.

Hands buried in his pockets and eyes narrowed to slits, he looked like any other teen. Except when he spontaneously started dancing down the street.

And then he started talking to himself.

"Perfect grades?" He asked.

"Check!" He answered himself, striking a pose.

"Goated shooting?" He asked.

"Check!" He replied, mimicking a jump shot.

"Great uni?" He asked.

"Check!" He shouted, louder this time.

Deyja could barely contain his excitement. This was it. Every second I had spent grinding was for this feeling. Born to two PhDs, he had always desired to live up to them. Scratch that, he had wanted to surpass his parents. And now, he could see it his efforts pay off with his own eyes. He couldn't wait to show his father what future he saw beyond the horizon. No. Not just his father, the entire world would see. He would make sure of it.

Calling Deyja competitive was an understatement, a severe one at that. There was not a single person on this planet he wasn't willing to compete with. Much to his parents' dismay, that included his younger sister. Barely able to speak and he was already making sure she turned into a worthy rival.

He chuckled to himself. This much internal monologuing was a lot, even for him. But he just felt so good right now. The feeling was comparable to taking a good shit in a hot tub.

Now that's an image.

"Throughout the Heavens and the Earth, I alone am the honored one." He declared, striking the same pose as his favorite character.

Opening his eyes slightly, he saw someone staring at him like he was crazy.

Ah Shit. I hope him and I never have the misfortune of ever seeing each other again.

His expression then turned from shock to horror.

"Hey kid MOVE!" He screamed, rushing towards Deyja.

Unfortunately for him, it was far too late. Divine judgement fell from the sky.

And just like that, Deyja died as he lived. With a bang.
