Chapter 9 - 9

I grabbed a random medical jutsu scroll. My plan was to just simply walk into the jonin section and hope I don't get caught. It was a bad plan but I was an academy student. I couldn't really make a good plan without looking suspicious. I was still a fucking academy student for Pete's sake! I just needed two scrolls. I had cut open pockets in my coat I bought just for this. I wish I had the transformation jutsu. My plan likely wouldn't work

Opening the scroll I found a scroll about combat medics and what you need to do to become one. Interesting. Ino would love this.

I walked into the jonin area. Looking down at my scroll. There was a chunin guard there. He was reading a book.

"Hehehe"

Pervert.

I only needed two scrolls. One for fire. Another for water. I just needed to not be caught "Borrowing" These scrolls by anyone and I should be good. The things I do for my friends. I looked up from my scroll. The jonin section of the shinobi library looked exactly like the regular one's adult section. Wow. You'd think there'd be more teenagers going here by accident then. Walking further into the jutsu section of the shinobi library I saw a bunch of colored scrolls. Mostly red and brown. Some of them had labels like Elemental jutsu (fire) basics. I assumed those were the ones I needed. I quickly grabbed the fire one as I was still acting like I was reading the medical jutsu one. There were four rules for a medic. Created by Tsunade Senju herself. I made it to the water scrolls. I quickly grabbed the water scroll and continued walking. I couldn't get caught now. I decided to read the rules for med nin. Maybe reading them aloud would help if I got caught.

First rule: "No medic ninja shall ever stop medical treatment until the lives of their party members have come to an end." That makes sense. Your main goal is to ensure your comrades survive.

Second rule: "No medic ninja shall ever stand on the front lines." Again this makes sense. If a medic got killed then nobody could heal the fighters.

Third rule: "No medic ninja shall ever die until they are the last of their platoon." This yet again makes sense. If there is still even 1 person other than the medic standing they damn well are going to need that medic

Fourth rule: Only those medic ninja who have mastered the Strength of a hundred technique of the ninja art Creation Rebirth are permitted to discard the above-mentioned laws." This one makes the most sense. If you have to fight as a medic you're going to need to be damn strong to do so

Suddenly I felt someone tap my shoulder and I jumped. "What the hell?" I whispered. The librarian wouldn't take any shit at all and if I yelled she'd take that as an excuse to kick me the fuck out

"Hello, May I ask what your doing in the jonin section of the library?" I looked up and saw a man with silver gravity-defying hair, a mask, His headband over his left eye, and the standard Konoha jonin attire. Kakashi hatake.

I looked around in confusion for a second. "I thought I was still in the academy section. I must have gotten lost on the road of life then" I said. I always wondered what would happen if Kakashi heard one of his excuses from someone else.

"I see, that road is indeed a confusing one, Now let's get you back to where you belong," Kakashi said lazily. grabbing me

Suddenly we were in the academy learning area again. Shunshin.

I felt dizzy for a second.

"Do you need a trash can?" He asked pulling out a book. An orange book

"No, what was that?" I asked. Curiosity written all over my face. I of course knew what it was but it would be weird not to ask.

"Oh this, this is the masterpiece known as icha icha. You're a bit too young to read it though" The jonin said. He talked about the book like Naruto talked about ramen.

"Not the book. How did you just teleport me?" I asked.

"Oh that. That was the shunshin. You might get to learn that in a few years" Kakashi said. Honestly, I would have fanboyed out a bit if we were in almost any other scenario. Of course, Konoha's top jonin had to have found me. I'm sure he knows I have those scrolls too.

"Cool. I wish that would be taught in the academy. Moving around would be so much easier" I said. I really wished I could learn the shunshin. Speed was my entire thing at the moment. I would love to have it now.

"Too bad. Academy students aren't prepared for it" Kakashi eye smiled.

"Yeah probably. Most of my classmates would use it dumbly anyways. Me too probably." I said. I agreed with Kakashi. Academy students would just constantly crash into trees or something. whereas a genin probably would just a few times before getting it down

"See you agree. You even accept you would fail" Kakashi said. He flipped a page of his book.

I narrowed my eyes. "Why are you still here? Aren't you a jonin or something?" I asked. I was just fishing for more information honestly. It probably wasn't a good idea.

Kakashi's eye smiled again. "I too got lost on the road of life. Then I found you lost on it as well" The copy nin said

"The road of life really needs to have more signs. We keep getting lost" I said

"Finally someone who understands. The road of life does need more signs. Maybe some lights too" Kakashi nodded. I nodded too.

"Yeah. Also, someone needs to fix that damn road too. So many cracks and holes" I suggested.

"You're right. Someone might fall and hurt themselves" He said in mock worry.

I realized something. It was starting to get late. I looked out a window and saw the sun was going down. Fuck. "As much as I'd love to continue talking. It's getting late and I don't want to go to bed late" I said in real worry. I didn't want to be late for the academy... although

He closed his book and put it in his pocket. "I see. Well, you best be careful then. By the way, learn to hide things better. It would help later on in your career" He said pulling out the fire scroll and tossing it back to me

I knew this would happen. "Noted. May I ask why you are giving this back instead of kicking me out of here?" I wondered. You'd think the top jonin and a Hokage candidate wouldn't allow someone to steal.

Kakashi eye smiled. "Because. You're just trying to prepare your comrades for the future. It's quite obvious" He handed me the water scroll back as well. I hadn't even noticed it was missing.

"Anything for wind then? My friend already is in ninjutsu class but I want to help him some more" I said. Naruto could use some extra help. He was naruto after all

"Don't worry about naruto" He said cryptically before shunshining both of us out of the library.

"Thank you for that" I was surprised he shunshined me out of there

"Just make sure to return those scrolls and you'll be fine. Be careful though. That stuff is very advanced. Fire is very dangerous to learn, " Kakashi warned. He then shunshined away

"That was scary," I said to myself before quickly running away.

"Okay, what took you so long?" Ino asked, tapping her foot on the ground.

Naruto just sat there trying to write something

"Hey don't blame me. I was caught by a jonin. The guy was cool though and just told me to put them back and to be careful" I said defending myself. "By the way, this stuff is very advanced, the guy said. We should be really careful" I finished as I tossed ino the water scroll.

She quickly unfurled the scroll. "Leaf exercise. Pull water from the leaf ``she muttered. "This doesn't seem too hard" She finished.

"Yeah right. Naruto, what are ya doing?" I asked

"Perfecting my stupid calligraphy. I'm almost there" Naruto complained.

"Good for you. I'm sure you're ahead of everyone else" I praised.

"Okay I read through the stupid exorcises to manipulate water" Ino announced

"And?"

"This looks hard... It said it might take years to master" Ino whined

"Well by the time we're done we are going to be ahead of pretty much everyone else" I said

"True"

"Now its getting late we all should go home"

"Hey kukui, could you please cook something for us"

"No"

I found myself back in the library. I honestly didn't know what I was doing here. Naruto was practicing wind chakra. Ino water. I could be practicing fire manipulation some more. But I didn't want to at the moment.

I picked up a random book. A book on Shinto mythology. Well might as well read it. I had nothing else better to do. Totally. I flipped to random pages. Izanagi, Raijin, Susanowo, Izanami, and the one that interested me most. Amaterasu the sun god.

Amaterasu was worshiped by the Uchiha clan, and so was Tsukuyomi. but far less than Amaterasu. Amaterasu apparently used to grant people her "grace" as said in the pages. Apparently, the gods were real at one point but they either died out or fucked off from the planet. Another AU thing apparently.

"Interesting huh?" I heard someone ask from beside me. I looked over and saw Sasuke Uchiha himself

"Yeah, I'm not really a religious guy myself but this is interesting. I wonder why more people don't worship or believe in a god" I said. You'd think shinobi would want some sort of reassurance that they aren't rotting in hell or the void when they die.

"People just stopped believing I guess. My clan used to believe in Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi" Sasuke said. An uncomfortable silence. I knew what happened to his clan. Itachi really fumbled the bag

"You think someone could bring back the belief in the Shinto gods?" I asked. I had wanted to strike up a conversation with the stoic emo but I didn't know how. He literally did the work for me.

"Probably one day but who knows how" Sasuke said

I nodded and looked at sasuke. "You know I didn't ask you why are you even here. Why are you even here?" I asked bluntly

"Funny, I was about to ask you the same thing. I was looking for something to help me become stronger" Sasuke said, getting a glint in his eye. A very angry glint

"I was just bored. I would talk to ino or naruto but I wanted to do something else today" I said simply. "If you want to become stronger you should find a training partner instead. Someone that can push you" I told the uchiha. I would have probably still been at sakura level if I hadn't been training with naruto and ino for so long

"What do you mean?" The uchiha asked.

"If you have someone to measure yourself against, to train with, Someone who will push you to do better" I explained nodding like a sage.

"How can I trust that you're right? There is nobody that can beat me in the academy" Sasuke said narrowing his eyes

"Well look at me, I used to be worse than sakura. But I trained with naruto and ino and now look at me" I said. Ego was something I didn't lack for sure. I just couldn't let it consume me I would die if i did

"You still aren't stronger than me though," Sasuke said simply.

"We will have to wait and see. We don't know that as we haven't sparred" I said mentally calling for my stats

In the past few weeks, my stats have gone up. and made me more confident in myself and my chances of beating Sasuke. I even got a perk for dexterity.

Overclock

Attack speed is increased by 25% when injured

This one would most certainly be overpowered. I wondered why I didn't get a perk for constitution but hey no crying over spilled milk.

"If you beat me then you're right, If not then nothing changes," Sasuke said. He clearly remembered my call to fight.

"Okay then Sasuke. You better prepare as I'm going to kick your ass then" I said confidently. I could probably beat Sasuke with a lot of effort. Although he'd be a tough opponent

"Hn" Sasuke walked away with a smirk on his face. The challenge was now clear.

I looked back to the book in my hand. I decided to check out the book. It was interesting to me.

I decided I needed a hobby. It had been quite a bit of time since I had done anything other than garden. And I wasn't going to ask anyone to play shogi with me after my string of losses to hiruzen. So I decided to take up another hobby. I looked at the sight I had come to see. The top of the Hokage monument. It was something I wanted to see for a while. No better time than now.

Hell I could meditate as well

Sitting down I decided to think about my life so far. I had been here for five months and I enjoyed every day of it. Even if I wasn't happy about the anvil above my head that was canon. I still wanted to look at the positives. I still have over a year until canon starts. I wasn't strong enough yet. I needed to be better. Stronger. Faster. But I had so little time. Maybe I could raid the jonin section of the library again? No, if someone else caught me I might be screwed. I could make do with what I had.

I had other options like summons but that was really risky with how I was now. I had no gear. Little training. No jutsu. If I had to fight I would be done for. So the only thing I could do was train and prepare my friends. Maybe I could ask Kakashi to train me and my friends? No, that wouldn't work. He's still too depressed. Plus he is a jonin. He wouldn't train three academy students

No, I shouldn't think of this now.

Meditation has gone up a level

That was nice. I had been neglecting meditation for a while now so this was no surprise. I smiled. I missed the times when I had new skills leveling left and right. Now I only have a few levels a day at most.

Fire manipulation Lvl 2

Increases control of fire according to level

Fire jutsu use 2% less chakra

Fire jutsu are 2% more effective

User is 2% more resistant to fire.

This leveled painfully slow. One level in a month. How pathetic. Maybe I wasn't doing something right?

Who knows. This shit was just hard. I sighed. I wanted to do better. To train until I dropped. But Ino wouldn't like that nor would naruto. But I was nervous. Nervous for future events. I know I'm in an au. For all I know, pain could attack now or Obito could revive Madara. Either way, it just was scary. I needed to make sure everyone was prepared. I had to beat Sasuke. Force him to join me and my friends in training. Just so we could all be prepared

I know someone would smack me for thinking like this. I sometimes wish I was reincarnated somewhere else. But no, I loved being in the world I was in now. Things were just scary for me. I'm not old enough to worry about this crap. I'm 16 I should be worrying about getting a girlfriend and a job. Not how to be prepared for Madara fucking Uchiha and every opponent before him. Hell, I didn't know if I had to worry about someone stronger.

Things were just difficult and I didn't want to be underprepared. No, I'd be prepared alright. And I would ensure my friends were safe.

I was prepared for this day. Today I would get past the stamina freak known as Naruto Uzumaki. I had enough energy, enough skills,

Sprinting(Active) level 5

Increases speed by 90%, Jumping by 65%, attack speed by 40%

Cost: 26 energy points per second)

Sprinting combined with speed demon I would be 115% faster than normal. Over double my regular speed. It was very overpowered for sure. I had 16 seconds total.

"Ready to eat my dust today naruto?" I asked. I glanced over at the blond next to me who was next to kin... I had been monitoring her for the past month and so far nothing has come out of it. She had to be a spy though. She just had to be.

"Nah, You're still going to eat my dust today, kukui," Naruto boasted. I smiled. Looking over to Kiba I saw he was still keeping his mouth shut. After the thorough ass-kicking, he got last month his ego was shattered

"As if" I replied simply

"Please you two just shut up" I heard a certain Nara draw out lazily

"Only when I pass Naruto here," I said smiling.

"Keep talking then" Naruto simply said

"Just shut up you two," The lazy Nara said

"Alright, everyone. You can start in three. two. one. Begin!" Iruka exclaimed

We all started running. As usual, I was passed by Naruto and Sasuke. I passed everyone else. Kin tried to keep up but she failed. I tried to catch up to Naruto without using sprinting. I strained my legs hard trying to keep up. I tried to touch his tracksuit but he just sped up. He looked back with a cocky grin

"Bastard," I muttered. I began to go faster. Sprinting was my last resort

I saw Naruto begin to go faster. He and Sasuke weren't that far ahead of me. Just a few feet at most for naruto.

I breathed in and out. 'Sprinting' I called out in my mind. I suddenly went faster. Twice as fast.

Suddenly I caught up to him.

"What the-" He said as I waved and went past him.

"I don't lie narutoooo" I drew out as I went past him.

I saw Sasuke pass the finish line. I saw Naruto speeding up once I looked behind me. I sped up some more. Naruto eventually caught up to me again

"So... you said I was going to eat your dust huh?" Naruto playfully mocked.

I flipped him off and began to speed ahead. I was killing my legs at this point

Eventually I passed the finish line. Just barely past naruto.

Quest complete: Finish second in the lap.

Rewards: +3 constitution, +1 sprinting level.

Perk speed demon updated.

Speed demon(2): Passively increases speed by 50 percent.

'Oh hell yes... this is awesome' I thought tiredly. I could now spend less time on constitution. Literally, so much time on grinding would now be saved. I could focus on other things for a little while now. Hell, I even got another sprinting level! Although it says it isn't maxed out yet. I wonder why?

But speed demon apparently upgraded. How many times could it upgrade? 3 times? 4 times? 5 times? That didn't matter at the moment. I beat naruto.

"I did it!" I exclaimed tiredly. I had to kill my legs to do so but I did it!

Naruto's jaw dropped. "You actually did... OH COME ON" He whined as everyone else passed the finish line.

"I never thought I'd see the day," Ino said tiredly. Taking deep breaths in between each word.

"Me either." I heard Shikamaru comment soon after.

"Yeah naruto is a speed demon" I heard chouji say. He took out a bag of chips.

"He's still never going to catch up to sasuke-kun" I heard a certain pinkette say. I heard many other fangirls agree with her.

"No kukui-kun will beat sasuke" I heard someone else say. I had fangirls… I almost grabbed a kunai and slit my throat. But I looked at Sasuke and he had a look of pity on his face.

"What the fuck" I heard naruto say.

"You have fangirls now, kukui," Naruto said, shocked.

"I think I'm going to feel sick. That's how I used to act" Ino said with sorrow in her voice.

"Sasuke has my utmost respect now. I already feel disgusted. And yes ino you actually use to be worse" I said. After school, my fangirls started to become more vocal... I think I understand Sasuke now. How the fuck do I even have fangirls? We're all 10. 11 at most.

"Way to make me feel better" Ino replied sarcastically.

"Look on the bright side you're not one of the bastard's stupid fangirls anymore," Naruto said grinning.

"Yeah. You're better now so you shouldn't feel bad. I just hope you don't become one of my fangirls" I said jokingly with a grin on my face

"Ew no. I'd rather eat my own puke" Ino said, sticking her tongue out.

Naruto was laughing at our interaction.

"I'm flattered," I smiled. This is what I wanted to protect. "Anyways, how about we all go to my place? I'll make something good today" I said

Naruto and Ino perked up. "Really?" They asked like it was Christmas day and they were getting their dream come true.

"Yeah. My food isn't that good isn't it?" I asked.

"I'd much rather have your cooking than my moms" Ino replied right away

"Your food's almost as good as ichiraku's," Naruto said although it sounded like it hurt

I smiled. "Thanks. Now how about we have a nice large ham" I said. Might as well make a Christmas meal this time.
