Chapter 8 - 8

Sam's POV

Saturday night came faster than I'd anticipated. I was half nude in my room making sure my makeup was intact. There was a lady who was supposed to handle the makeover but I took the risk and canceled.

"You're trying so hard to cut cost, aren't you?" Nicholas said. He was seated on the bed.

I had almost forgotten he was even around, cautiously, I pulled my tiny strap crop top to cover my boobs and adjusted my shorts. "Why wouldn't I? Grandpa said since I arrived, our daily expenses has tripled!"

Nicholas chuckled. He was mindlessly scrolling through his phone and didn't even raise his head up to look at me. He was wearing a fit shirt that hugged his body tight. I loved the way his curls appeared tousled, firm attractive gaze but they were fixed on his phone and not me?

I looked away, angry at myself for daring to feel like that. I didn't like him, not in that manner! I wasn't supposed to, despite what happened between us two weeks ago...

"I think I'm all set now. Does it even look like I have makeup on?" I asked, reassessing myself. My lashes were naturally longer so the mascara work was more appreciated, then my big doll eyes was highlighted in a cat liner style.

With a pretty rosebud lips, I applied my rosey lip gloss to look more natural yet pretty. Thanks to my expensive foundation and concealer, my skin was looking soft, making me appear younger.

Through the round mirror, I caught him standing up. I turned and smiled, showing my makeup. "It's giving, isn't it?"

"Giving "innocent but sexy" in a kind of way?" His brows furrowed as he leaned closer. Nicholas's presence made me shiverred now. We were best friends, but these past few days, I'd find myself stealing glances at him and wishing he would hold me. It didn't make any sense punishing myself, especially knowing he didn't feel that way about me.

You fool! You just got divorced like two weeks ago!

I heaved in, then noticed Nicholas had been saying something.

 "...excited about it." He said.

I had to try and improvise. It began with a fake smile, "Yea, you're absolutely right."

"Oh, that's good then." He winced, looking slightly hurt.

 "W-what, I mean, I'm excited but like--"

"I was talking about your date with Danny. Isn't that why you're trying so hard with your makeup?"

"I take that offensive. To me, this makeup looks natural and pretty, not like I'm trying too hard--"

His expression hardened, "Danny said you two were going on a date after the party."

I blinked. I'd totally forgotten about that! "Oh, well it's not really like a date date. He just wanted to show me his trophy collection. It's in this room there at his apartment, you know, the party is over at his house." Did I really believed that?

"That's good." He said casually, "I better go see if grandpa is ready too."

I didn't understand why he didn't look too excited about me with Danny. It didn't matter.

"Thanks! That's a good idea." I said, pretending not to be too bothered. When the door shut, I heaved in a deep sigh.

The dress I would be putting on was already hunged in my wardrobe. I advanced to fetch the dress and the most strangest thing happened. My eyes became darker...or the room appeared dark. It seemed like everywhere around me was spinning.

This dizziness happened to me before but it was due to shortage of blood. I made a mental note to visit the hospital for a checkup.

After a while, I was all set and headed downstairs. I'd also received a call that grandpa was all set too. The dress I wore was a simple dress with the back all open, and the front exposed that it revealed a little cleavage.

Grandpa smiled, "this is just what men like. Danny would be so glad to see you!"

I wasn't exactly happy grandpa was fond of Danny like that. He had set me up with Justin in the first place, not caring whether I loved the man or not. Of course I had loved Justin. I just didn't want the same thing to happen with Danny and I. And grandpa was too excited to see Danny and I get married.

Nicholas stared at me for a while, then threw his gaze elsewhere. I didn't know if he liked the outfit or not. I found myself curious.

"Alright then, we are all set." Grandpa said.

"I'll go get the driver." Nicholas stepped out to ready the car.

"So when is the training session going to start?" Grandpa asked me.

"Tomorrow." I replied, "I'm actually super excited."

He didn't look too impressed, "that's good."

The training was going to last three months, but it was a huge plus for our company. It was only about two hours per day, and Nicholas's company had funded it. We would received certificates that added to our career gains.

It wasn't compulsory but was important, and with Danny's company partnership with ours, I was in the right track of boosting our company's sales and fame.

Nicholas returned by this time. "The car is ready."

"Let's go. By the way child, you should hand Danny a gift. A reasonable one," he added instantly before I said I'd prepared a gift, "and maybe a kiss too."

My face flustered as I watched my old man tell me how to seduce a man?
