Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

"Blessed by the spirit of fire?" Lune asked wondering if she heard right.

"Yes." The Queen said with pride.

"But you used the blessings of the water spirit and then you used the blessings of the wind-" Lune said before stopping abruptly.

"Go on." Pyralex encouraged Lune with a smile.

"Which shouldn't be possible." Lune said, bringing her gaze to the floor.

"I will be borrowing her now." Pyralex said with a clap of his hands.

"I am sure you both would like to catch up." Pyralex said, referring to the King and Queen.

"And I would love to know my niece more." Pyralex said, grasping his niece's hand and whisking her away.

"Is it okay to leave those two on their own?" The King asked and the Queen laughed mischievously.

"What?" The Queen said with a teasing smile.

"Do you think they would rub off on each other?" The Queen asked the King with a chuckle.

"Lune already has an active imagination." The king said, pulling his wife closer.

"We are already having a hard time taming her." The King said, reminding the Queen of their daughter's antics.

"Are we willingly putting her in the vicinity of one of the smartest minds in Alvonia?" The King asked resting his head on the Queen's forehead.

"Relax." The queen said, putting her hands around the King's neck.

"He won't teach Lune anything that could put her or anyone else in danger." The queen said, standing on her tiptoes to press a kiss on the King's lips.

While the King and Queen basked in their alone time, Pyralex took Lune to her thinkering room. Drawing out two chairs, Pyralex offered Lune the seat opposite him.

"So what do you know about the blessings of the spirit?" Pyralex asked Lune.

"There are four blessings of the spirit. " Lune said.

"People blessed by the spirit of the wind can fly, create weapons and levitate objects depending on their level of attunement." Lune said, looking at Pyralex's reaction from the corner of her eyes.

"The people blessed of the water can-" Lune began but stopped abruptly at the raise of Pyralex's hand.

"What do you think attunement is?" Pyralex asked and Lune kept quiet, thinking of what to say.

"Does our level of attunement evolve or is it something we were blessed with from birth?" Pyralex asked and Lune sat there dumbfounded.

Clearing his throat Pyralex asked an easier question.

"What do you think makes the difference between a high or a low level of attunement?" Pyralex asked.

"Power?" asked Lune.

"Power?" Pyralex asked in the same tone as Lune.

"Why do you say that?" Pyralex said, watching Lune with a smile.

"There is a huge difference between what can be done by a person of high attunement and another with low attunement." Lune said and Pyralex gestured for her to elaborate.

Trying to see what he was getting at, Lune took in a deep breath before speaking.

"People with high attunement to the blessing of the water spirit can form identical clones of themselves." Lune said emphasing "identical clones"

"While people with low attunement can only control water in a glass or a container." Lune said slowly and Pyralex laughed

"That might have been too far in comparison." Pyralex said, wiping tears from his eyes.

"But what happens if they have a weapon like mine?" Pyralex said, stamping his staff to the floor.

Studying his staff once more, a history book she had read popped up in Lune's mind.

"They would be able to use all blessings of the spirit at will." Lune said with conviction.

"Moments ago you said it was impossible that I was able to use two of the four blessings while being blessed with the spirit of fire and now you tell me that the holder of my staff can use all blessings at will." Pyralex said tilting his head with a smile.

"Only four people in history have been recorded to place blessings of the spirit in a weapon. " said Lune.

"The first two are dated as far as 300 years ago and the remaining two recently emerged in this decade but only two of these four have been able to place all four of the blessings on a weapon." Lune said and Pyralex stared at her in awe.

"Aren't you the girl that runs away from your tutors?" Pyralex asked and Lune blushed in embarrassment.

"I only ran away from the etiquette tutor!" Lune exclaimed in embarrassment and Pyralex chuckled.

"You are right but there is a flaw in your statement." Pyralex said with a smile.

"You are right when you say they would be able to use the blessings of the spirit but you are wrong to use the word "at will"." Pyralex said with a slight smirk.

In confusion, Lune stared at Pyralex but before she could ask him what he meant Pyralex interrupted her mid thought.

"I will tell you the reason for this after your etiquette class tomorrow." Pyralex said with an evil smile and Lune stared at him with an unimpressed look.
