Ruby's POV
My body wouldn't stop shaking.
Every fiber of my being desperately wanted this to be nothing more than a nightmare. I wanted to wake up in that cramped delivery truck with Justin beside me, both of us still running toward freedom and a chance at something better.
But the weight of his stare told me otherwise.
This was real. He was real.
Without warning, he whipped me around and seized my chin between his fingers, forcing our gazes to lock.
Ice flooded my veins the instant I met those familiar eyes.
"The first time, you swore up and down that you weren't running," he said, his grip tightening until it hurt. "You claimed it was just some innocent drive around town."
I set my jaw and refused to speak, meeting his glare with my own defiance.
