Ruby's POV
I shot daggers at Cloe with my eyes. Why did you have to tell him everything?
She made a face at me before spinning back toward Elias. "That creep stalked Ruby all the way here, wrapped his fingers around her throat, and made threats. God knows what would have happened if I hadn't walked in when I did."
"This is Cloe," I said through gritted teeth. "Cloe, meet Alpha Elias."
"Oh wow, I can't believe I'm actually meeting you!" Her voice went up three octaves as she practically bounced on her toes.
Elias flashed her one of those devastating smiles. "The pleasure's mine. Ruby's fortunate to have someone watching her back."
Cloe's cheeks turned crimson, and I could practically see hearts floating around her head.
Watching my best friend turn to putty made me want to roll my eyes. Traitor.
"It's getting late," Elias said, his voice dropping to that commanding tone that made my stomach flip. "My driver can drop you off at home."
"Actually, we were planning to—"
