My scream cut through the evening air, but in the next heartbeat, powerful hands forced my head beneath the lake's surface. Freezing water rushed into my mouth and nose.
I gagged, panic surging through me as I fought to break free and reach the surface.
The person restraining me possessed incredible strength, far beyond my own. Their intent was crystal clear - they wanted me dead, pushing me deeper into the murky depths.
My legs kicked frantically, arms flailing in desperate resistance, but nothing worked.
Terror consumed me as I tried reaching for my wolf, but the bitter irony hit me hard - she despised water with every fiber of her being. If she emerged now, we would both perish even faster.
Time crawled by in agonizing slow motion.
My lungs screamed for oxygen, feeling ready to burst from the pressure.
I couldn't hold my breath any longer. The moment my lips parted, precious air bubbles escaped upward.
