Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Capture the Divine Beast at the Beginning?

**Johto Region.**

**New Bark Town.**

"Jack, have you decided yet? Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile—which one will you choose as your partner?"

Inside Professor Elm's laboratory, the professor looked kindly at the young man before him.

The young man was momentarily dazed, his expression somewhat absent-minded... Jack looked at the professor, unsure how to describe his current emotions.

Two days ago, with the global release of the Pokémon AR game pod developed by DivineTech, countless Pokémon enthusiasts rushed to buy them, selling out instantly.

Jack, a loyal enthusiast, also managed to get one. However, at 7 PM tonight, the moment the game officially launched, an accident occurred: all players who logged into the game were trapped and could no longer exit.

After spending two hours reluctantly accepting this fact, Jack followed other players to Professor Elm's laboratory to receive their Original Three Starter partners.

Just as the professor was about to introduce him to the Pokémon, a system binding notification suddenly appeared in his mind.

The **Legendary Beast System** was bound.

The system granted him four abilities:

1. **Master's Power**: Any Poké Ball he handled could achieve a 100% capture rate for Legendary Pokémon.

2. **Divine Beast Power**: By capturing a Legendary Pokémon, he could acquire one of its skills.

3. **Charm Aura**: Once they became his Pokémon, their various stats would continuously increase without limit.

4. **Divine Beast Perception**: Within a one-mile radius, if a Legendary Pokémon was present, he would sense it, and the closer he got, the stronger the perception.

But the reason for his daze was not the system binding itself; it was the fact that the instant the system finished introducing his abilities, he sensed a Pokémon attracting him.

"What are you spacing out for? Hurry up and choose! There are many people waiting behind you."

Behind Jack, many players were still queuing, waiting to receive their Original Three Starters. Seeing Jack in a daze, they couldn't help but feel annoyed.

Snapping out of his daze, Jack said, "Professor, could you please give me a few empty Poké Balls first? I want to go catch a wild one."

"You don't want to choose a partner from us, but instead want to rely on yourself to catch a wild one directly?" Professor Elm was very surprised.

"Yes, please, Professor. Please give me a few Poké Balls." Jack's tone was firm.

Seeing Jack's resolve, Professor Elm no longer tried to dissuade him. He picked up five strung-together Poké Balls from his desk and handed them to Jack, saying at the same time,

"If you fail to catch one, you can come back and claim your partner."

"Thank you, Professor." Jack thanked him, grabbed the Poké Balls, and ran outside.

As he passed some players, their mockery was incessant.

"This guy is hilarious, seriously! He doesn't want an Original Three Starters but instead takes five empty Poké Balls to catch a wild one. Does he think he's holding a Master Ball? Or does he think Pokémon are all idiots, and he can just throw it and catch one directly?"

"Don't laugh, everyone. This guy probably has never played before, which is why he's so self-important... Pfft, never mind, I can't hold it in, hahahaha..."

"Everyone, you queue up first. I'll follow him to see, then come back to queue."

... Leaving the laboratory, Jack followed the perception's guidance and arrived at a lawn.

On the lawn, many children were playing with various Pokémon. There were Nidoran, Oddish, Growlithe, and so on.

Jack, guided by his perception, finally arrived in front of a Pidgey, a bird Pokémon.

This Pidgey was playing with a few Oddish. Seeing Jack approach, the Oddish all ran away, leaving only the Pidgey looking at Jack with a puzzled expression.

Because it didn't understand why the person in front of it was trembling all over and constantly gulping when looking at it.

"Is it Mew? It's Mew, right! It must be Mew! Divine Beast Perception shouldn't mistake a real Pidgey for a divine beast and make me sense it."

Jack looked at the Pidgey, which was tilting its head and looking at him with confusion, his mind racing.

"Hahahaha... Kid, what are you trying to do? You're not actually going to just throw a Poké Ball at a full-health Pidgey, are you?"

At this moment, the guys who had mocked Jack in the laboratory also ran over. Seeing Jack's extremely excited expression towards a Pidgey, they immediately burst into breathless laughter.

Jack glanced at them and reached for the Poké Ball hanging at his waist. He took one out and, without hesitation, threw it towards the Pidgey.

A red light flashed from the Poké Ball, and the Pidgey was drawn inside. The Poké Ball landed on the ground and began to sway, its central red light blinking.

"System, I hope you're not screwing with me," Jack muttered anxiously in his heart.

"You actually just threw the Poké Ball like that! You're a talent, hahahaha..."

Those guys couldn't help but mock him again, but their laughter only lasted three seconds before abruptly stopping.

Because after the Poké Ball swayed left and right three times, it actually stopped moving.

Jack, overjoyed, quickly picked up the Poké Ball and turned to run, looking as if he was terrified they would follow him.

Ten minutes later, Jack ran into an empty small grove. He looked left and right, found no one following, and breathed a sigh of relief.

He looked down at the Poké Ball, pressed the white button in the middle, and a pink, cat-like Pokémon appeared from it.

This Pokémon had a pair of triangular ears and large blue eyes. After appearing, it tilted its large head and looked at Jack.

It let out two cries, sounding like a cat, utterly adorable.
