Chapter 49 - Return to the Battlefield

"We need to leave. Now."

Kieran's voice came through the encrypted audio channel with an urgency.

"What happened?" Marcus asked, pulling Aria closer to the laptop. She'd been walking without assistance for the past week, and her recovery was progressing faster than the doctors had predicted.

"Your location has been compromised. I don't know how yet, but I intercepted communications from their network. They know you're in Switzerland, and they're narrowing down the region." Kieran's words came fast. "You have maybe forty-eight hours before they pinpoint the exact location."

Aria's hand found Marcus's shoulder, gripping tight. "How certain are you?"

"Certain enough to risk exposing myself by making this call during daylight hours," Kieran said. "I'm sending David encrypted files with the intercepts. You'll see I'm not exaggerating the threat."

Marcus's phone buzzed immediately. Message from David: Files received. This is serious. They're closing in.
