Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Black and White Duo

In the following days, Du Mu and Blade teamed up to sweep through Deacon Frost's territory.

Blade was responsible for charging into the fray and dealing damage, while Du Mu was in charge of delivering the finishing blows and harvesting the kills, a clear division of labor.

As the number of vampires they killed sharply increased, their fearsome reputation spread like a plague throughout the entire vampire community.

Some vampires even gave them a resounding nickname—the Black and White Duo!

(Black & White Double Kill!)

Perhaps their actions were too high-profile.

Starting on the third day of their team-up, they noticed a clear and sudden drop in the number of vampires.

Often, only a dozen or so vampires remained to guard a territory, and at the slightest hint of trouble, they immediately took off running, abandoning their turf entirely.

After sweeping through another practically deserted territory, Du Mu finally received the system notification.

There's a follow-up mission?

Du Mu didn't hesitate and immediately chose to skip the plot.

[NPC Nick Fury has issued a new mission to you.]

[Mission: Blood God Ritual]

[Objective: End the conspiracy of the vampire leader Deacon Frost.]

**[Reward: 5000 Experience Points, S.H.I.E.L.D. Reputation +100, Random Skill *1, Random Equipment 2, Random Item 3]

Although it wasn't a main quest, the rewards were still quite substantial.

Coincidentally, Blade had already tracked down Deacon Frost's main base these past few days, so Du Mu immediately decided to set off with him.

The next morning.

Based on the intelligence, Du Mu and Blade arrived at a completely sealed private skyscraper.

The entire building resembled a steel fortress. All the windows were firmly covered by heavy metal shutters, making it impossible to see inside from the outside.

Du Mu looked at the building from a distance: "Are vampires that rich?"

Blade scoffed: "There are plenty of rich people who want to become vampires."

The wealthier people are, the more they fear death. They are willing to pay any price for eternal life and youth.

Du Mu looked at Blade curiously: "Then how come you're so poor?"

Blade: "..."

I'm a half-human, half-vampire, a new breed, so I don't count!

Next, the two began to formulate a plan.

Their plan was very simple: first, sneak into the building, and then play it by ear!

It was a very rigorous plan indeed!

Du Mu suggested: "To prevent Deacon Frost from escaping, you go in from the ground floor, and I'll go in from the top floor. The two of us will surround the entire building."

Two people surrounding an entire building—that's quite a boast. I like it!

Blade silently gave a mental thumbs-up, but then asked, "But how do you plan to get up there? That building has at least fifty floors."

Du Mu didn't explain. He crouched down, pressed the switch on his new Gravity Boots, then went to the edge of the building and placed his foot on the vertical wall.

The next moment, Du Mu's feet were as firm as if he were walking on flat ground, standing steadily on the wall.

Blade was completely dumbfounded.

He's not a bookworm. Can someone tell him if this is scientifically sound?

With the help of the Gravity Boots, Du Mu easily reached the rooftop of the building. As soon as he peered over, he heard a burst of explosive music; a group of vampires was gathered by the pool, having a party.

Du Mu was somewhat speechless.

Do these vampires have no other hobbies? Why are they partying every single day?

He pulled out a megaphone and yelled down: "Hello! Everyone look at me! I have an announcement to make!"

All the vampires instinctively looked up toward the edge of the rooftop. They saw half of Du Mu's head poking over and were immediately confused.

This is the fiftieth floor! How did this guy climb up here?

Before they could react, a few cylindrical objects suddenly dropped right into their midst.

"Shit! They're flashbangs!!"

Boom!!

A dazzling, intense light instantly exploded!

The vampires were caught completely off guard and were blinded!

Although vampires have strong self-healing abilities, being hit by that flash was still harsh. Blinded, deafened, snot and tears streaming down their faces, they all instantly lost the ability to resist.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang—!

Du Mu flipped and jumped down from the platform, pulling out his Golden Desert Eagle and firing continuously at the vampires, who were suffering from various debuffs!

He had already loaded silver bullets. The heads of a dozen vampires burst open, and they instantly turned into ashes and scattered in the wind.

The remaining vampires frantically tried to grab their guns to retaliate, but they were still in a state of blindness. The bullets they fired either flew wildly off to nowhere or hit their companions, making the scene utterly chaotic.

Du Mu stood still, picking off the remaining vampires one by one, leaving only the last one for questioning.

"Where is Deacon Frost?"

"Deacon what?"

"Deacon Frost."

"What Frost?"

"..."

Bang!

Du Mu shot and killed the vampire elder.

It seemed he had overestimated the vampire's self-healing ability; the deafness caused by the flashbang had lasted surprisingly long.

Du Mu opened the communicator on his ear: "This is Du Mu. I've successfully infiltrated the building. No one has noticed my presence. Over."

"I've infiltrated as well. Hmm... no one has noticed my presence either."

Blade's voice came through the communicator, accompanied by the sound of a fierce struggle.

Du Mu nodded: "Very well. Now we'll split up and search for Frost's whereabouts."

Afterward, Du Mu found the stairwell and started walking down the stairs.

Da-da-da-da—!

Rapid, dense footsteps suddenly came from the end of the corridor. Dozens of fully armed vampires appeared in his line of sight.

Their equipment was excellent: they wore bulletproof helmets, bulletproof vests, and were each equipped with automatic rifles. They clearly looked like a professional squad.

Seeing Du Mu, the vampires didn't hesitate for a second and immediately raised their guns!

Da-da-da-da-da—!

Bursts of fire erupted, and dense firepower surged toward Du Mu!

Du Mu performed a combat roll, diving behind a cover.

The vampires were experienced. While maintaining continuous suppressive fire, they formed a tactical formation and steadily advanced toward the cover where Du Mu was hiding.

Just as they were about to close in on the cover, a grenade suddenly flew out from behind the pillar, rolling accurately to the front of their formation.

"Watch out for the grenade!"

A vampire shouted in alarm.

However, the expected explosion didn't happen.

With a hiss, the grenade released a large cloud of thick yellow smoke, which rapidly spread through the enclosed corridor!

"F*ck! It's a concentrated garlic essence grenade!!"

The vampires' faces drastically changed as they tried to retreat in terror.

But it was too late. The yellow garlic essence smoke enveloped them instantly like a bone-sticking maggot. Flames ignited all over their bodies, and they let out heart-rending screams before turning into piles of ash.

Vampires are incredibly resilient, but they are also very fragile.

Even an ordinary person, armed with weapons like garlic essence or pure silver, could easily kill a vampire instantly.

It was even more so for Du Mu, a player. With weapons and equipment that absolutely countered them, it was practically like playing against bots.

After dealing with the vampire armed forces, Du Mu searched the upper levels for any trace of Deacon Frost but found nothing.

Therefore, he contacted Blade again.

"Blade, what's the situation on your end? Have you found anything?"

"Yes, I found my deceased mother resurrected."

Du Mu: "?"
