Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Lawyer Matt, Watch My Eyes Later

The moment Du Mu heard the security personnel shouting, he thought he'd been exposed.

However, the footsteps weren't approaching his area; they were moving away toward the other side of the building.

It seemed someone else had also broken into the building.

"Another expert?"

Du Mu was slightly surprised, but the current confusion was exactly what he needed.

Taking advantage of the security forces being drawn away, Du Mu strolled brazenly to his target office, once again pulling out his Master Key to unlock the door.

He quickly scanned the room, his gaze soon locking onto a seemingly ordinary mural on the wall.

In his field of vision, the edge of the mural was emitting a faint, white glow marked as 'Interactive,' a typical indicator for a mission mechanism trigger.

"I love games where I don't have to use my brain."

Du Mu immediately walked up to examine the mural.

Sure enough, he soon discovered a hidden compartment behind it, containing a small safe.

Du Mu opened the safe with the Master Key. Inside, several notebooks were neatly stacked. Yes, the proper, ledger kind.

The mission items were easily acquired!

Du Mu stuffed all the ledgers into his game Inventory and turned to leave.

Just then, footsteps sounded from the office doorway.

Du Mu looked over and saw a familiar red figure standing in the hallway—it was Matt in his Daredevil suit.

"Well, well, isn't it Lawyer Matt? Long time no see. Are you also out for a walk in the middle of the night?" Du Mu greeted him in a casual tone.

Matt: "…"

Who would come to a place like this for a walk in the middle of the night?

Matt clearly hadn't expected to run into Du Mu here again, and his expression instantly grew grave.

He took a deep breath and said solemnly, "Please hand over the ledgers you just took. They are important criminal evidence against The Hand, and I can't let you take them away."

"Do you even understand the concept of first come, first served?"

Du Mu pouted, "Besides, leaving that aside, what use are ledgers to you, a blind man? Can you even read the text on them?"

"I can," Matt nodded.

Du Mu didn't believe it. He took a pen from his game Inventory and wrote a few words on his hand.

"Then tell me what words I have on my hand."

"I don't know."

"And you say you can read words."

"What you wrote on your hand is 'I don't know'."

Matt was somewhat speechless.

Was there something wrong with this guy's brain?

Du Mu was also surprised. Matt's sensory abilities were simply too outrageous; he could even 'see' words.

He looked at the other man with suspicion: "Lawyer Matt, are you really blind or just faking it? You're not one of those perverts who pretends to be blind to teach piano but is actually peeking at girls changing clothes, are you?"

Why did he bring up perversion again?

Matt's mouth twitched involuntarily: "Can you give me the ledgers now? This evidence needs to be handed over to the police."

"No."

Du Mu flatly refused, saying cheerfully, "It's too much trouble for the police; there are too many procedures. It's better to give them directly to our S.H.I.E.L.D.—professional team, high efficiency!"

"S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

Matt quickly searched his memory, confirming he had never heard of any official law enforcement agency by that name.

However, judging by the behavior of this lunatic, Du Mu, this 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' organization was clearly not legitimate either.

Matt was about to object.

Suddenly, his keen ears caught an extremely subtle movement.

The next moment, over a dozen figures dressed in pitch-black ninja attire emerged from the shadows, silently appearing in every corner of the hallway, surrounding Du Mu and Matt at the office entrance.

"It's you again, Daredevil! Daring to provoke our Hand organization repeatedly, this time you will surely die!"

The voice of the Red Ninja leading the group was icy cold.

Suddenly, he violently swung his right hand, and several shurikens shot straight towards Matt!

Matt reacted extremely fast, avoiding the attack with a difficult side flip.

The Red Ninja didn't hesitate, pulling a katana from his back with a reverse grip, letting out a low growl, and charging toward Matt!

Instantly, the two clashed, creating the sounds of fierce combat.

Meanwhile, Du Mu was also surrounded by several black-clad ninjas wielding katanas.

Their gripping stances were steady and powerful, and their eyes were sharp, clearly marking them all as expert swordsmen.

Du Mu pulled a watermelon knife from his left side and said coolly, "Don't say I didn't warn you. I know Kung Fu."

The ninjas surrounding him looked indifferent, completely ignoring his words.

They shifted their stances and rushed forward simultaneously with extreme speed. Several cold flashes of steel swept out, fiercely slashing at the vital points around Du Mu from different angles!

Even a Kung Fu master would be defeated under such a coordinated attack!

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Gunshots rang out, and four ninjas fell instantly!

Du Mu blew the white smoke off the muzzle, shaking his head: "I already warned you guys."

Seeing this, the faces of the remaining ninjas froze.

You call that Kung Fu?!

Yet, there was no fear on the ninjas' faces. Their speed didn't drop as they wielded their katanas, charging Du Mu with a suicidal ferocity!

Unfortunately, no matter how fast they were, they weren't faster than Du Mu's American Iaijutsu.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang——!

Du Mu raised his Golden Desert Eagle and continuously point-fired, sending these swordsmen experts off one by one.

In less than a few seconds.

Only the Red Ninja, who was passionately battling Matt, remained on the scene.

He caught a glimpse of his fallen comrades piled up by Du Mu's feet, and a flash of rage crossed his eyes.

"Baka yarou! I will make you shinu shinu!"

The Red Ninja spat out his native tongue, ignoring his entanglement with Matt. His body spun sharply, both hands gripping his katana, and he lunged straight for Du Mu with astonishing speed!

Bang!

Du Mu raised his hand and fired a shot!

However, the Red Ninja sharply twisted his wrist, bringing his katana across his body. The bullet was actually deflected by the blade!

Du Mu was a little surprised, but he didn't continue shooting.

He tightened his grip on the watermelon knife in his left hand, watching the Red Ninja charge up to him with his sword raised.

"Shine!!"

The Red Ninja raised his katana high with both hands, using all his strength to slash furiously down at Du Mu's head!

Just as the blade was about to fall, Du Mu violently raised the watermelon knife in his hand.

"Parry!"

Clang——!

The blades of the watermelon knife and the katana collided fiercely, producing a crisp and loud ringing of metal!

The Red Ninja felt a powerful counter-force shoot up from the hilt of his sword. His body stumbled backward uncontrollably and entered an eerie state of rigidity, unable to move!

"Nani!?"

The Red Ninja's eyes were wide, his pupils filled with disbelief.

But before he could recover his movement, the watermelon knife flashed by, instantly cleaving his head from his body!

Matt, who was nearby, wanted to cry out to stop it, but it was too late.

"You killed someone again."

Matt's voice was low, and his face was grim.

Du Mu looked at him with contempt: "This is called self-defense. Do you even know the law, Lawyer Matt?"

Matt: "…"

After dispatching the Red Ninja, Du Mu saw another group of black-clad, masked ninjas pouring out from the end of the corridor, brandishing katanas and charging towards them with murderous intent.

Du Mu's expression turned serious, and he quickly positioned Matt in front of him.

"Lawyer Matt, there are too many of them. Watch my eyes later, we're splitting up and running!"

Matt: "?"

Before Matt could react, Du Mu gave him a fierce wink, then turned and bolted.

Anyway, he'd given the cue with his eyes.

Whether Matt could actually see it or not was no longer his concern.
