Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Scene Is Wrong

"Teacher, I'd love to be in class, but my seat has been taken."

Li Yang said with an aggrieved tone.

Liu Dayou looked like he'd seen a ghost, "You still have the nerve to talk about class? Do you know how many points you got on the fourth mock exam?"

The fourth mock exam ended yesterday, and the school teachers worked overtime to grade the papers. Today, the regular classes have a day off, and the elite classes take time to review the papers.

"Your words are too harsh, it's not that bad."

Li Yang replied unhurriedly.

Liu Dayou suddenly noticed that Li Yang seemed different today. Previously, even if he had lost patience with him, Li Yang at least appeared guilty and listened quietly when reprimanded.

Now he seemed more rebellious.

"In my eyes, whether it's 400 or just a few points, it's the same! In the entire class 17, you're the one seriously dragging us down!"

Li Yang: "Then I'll work hard in the last month and strive to bring honor to the class!"

Liu Dayou felt like Li Yang was mocking him.

In a burst of anger, he pointed at the podium and said, "Fine, if you want to bring honor to the class, starting today, you'll sit on the podium. I want to see how you plan to bring honor to the class!"

Liu Dayou couldn't control his temper, since Li Yang had long worn out his patience.

Today, this guy wasn't standing at attention while being reprimanded and even dared to talk back.

"What about the teachers?"

Liu Dayou said, "Teachers? The whole class is counting on you, the last place, to bring honor. What teacher would still have the face to teach?"

Li Yang was speechless.

He was clearly second to last.

It's all Wu Tianqi's fault for getting himself a spot as a sports student, which meant his grades didn't count towards the class average.

"No matter what, whether you believe or not, I've made up my mind to study hard."

Liu Dayou glared at him, "You better be!"

Nobody doubted Li Yang's intelligence or his ability to learn, otherwise, he wouldn't have been placed in the elite class in his first year.

But having taught so many students, once they start to play around, once they lose focus, it's hard for them to concentrate on their studies again.

The two stood at the back door of the neighboring class, able to see some of the classroom activity.

After glancing into the classroom, Li Yang said, "Teacher, I'll head in now. I see Jiang Banxia is back in her seat."

Before Liu Dayou could agree, he darted into the classroom.

In society, this wouldn't be a big deal, but in school, it makes him a bit of a center of attention.

So even seated, Li Yang attracted a lot of attention.

Especially from Jiang Banxia in the third row, who snuck a glance, feeling her heart race.

As soon as Li Yang sat down, he found a note on the desk, with a few words written in elegant handwriting: Sorry for the trouble.

He casually tossed the note aside; these words were out of place in this setting.

It should be like he becomes a leader, and then Jiang Banxia pleads on behalf of her husband. That would fit...

Ugh, how unambitious!

He quickly turned his focus to the books piled before him; the only way out of this mess was studying.

The hardest subjects were undoubtedly math, physics, and chemistry.

He feared that he might even copy the answers wrong.

He vaguely recalled once copying homework, where someone wrote a/b, and he copied it as 9/6, then that brainy Wu Tianqi simplified it to 3/2.

The remaining month wasn't to familiarize himself with the courses but with the answers.

A quick read-through of the textbook, review example problems: after understanding the fundamental formulas, he could officially tackle the problems.

Though he hadn't studied in a while, he could still recall some remnants from his memory. He somewhat comprehended after a read-through, though memorizing everything in a short time wasn't feasible.

Without realizing, time passed quickly, and he didn't even notice it was break time.

It wasn't until he sensed a sneaky presence nearby and turned to see that it was Wu Tianqi, who was quietly picking up the note he had discarded.

Upon meeting Li Yang's gaze, Wu Tianqi quickly pocketed the note and awkwardly said, "I'm cleaning up your mess to avoid it affecting your relationship with Little Witch."

Wu Tianqi nicknamed Wang Manqi 'Little Witch' because, despite her young age, she had a captivating demeanor.

Li Yang said, "Your gaze wavers. A note from Jiang Banxia can dazzle you like this? Your self-cultivation level is lacking!"

Wu Tianqi immediately said, "Amitabha... oops, Infinite Celestial Venerable... I'm doing this for your sake. If others knew Jiang Banxia wrote you a note, they'd call you a scumbag. How would you have the face to dual-cultivate with Little Witch then? We're brothers, that's why I'm going all out to help you. How could you think this way?"

"Oh, then tear the note up."

"Ha... Don't worry, I'll destroy the evidence later."

Wu Tianqi vowed earnestly.

Li Yang didn't believe it at all, thinking this guy must have some peculiar hobby.

Seeing Li Yang's still doubtful expression, Wu Tianqi explained, "To be honest, I don't care about Jiang Banxia's stuff. My family elders are preparing to contact her family's elders. She might be my dual-cultivation partner in the future; what won't I get? Why would I care about this?"

Li Yang: "???

He really wanted to get Wu Tianqi a mirror.

"Really?"

"What's really?"

"I'll ask Jiang Banxia later, considering your sake, I won't hold it against her..."

"Damn! If you dare to ask, one of us won't leave this classroom alive tonight!"

Wu Tianqi got worked up, for he'd be doomed if he didn't act now.

He vaguely recalled an evening dining with Jiang Banxia's parents and foolishly declaring that he liked Jiang Banxia.

Then his dad whipped him all night.

Even threatening, if he dared to bother Jiang Banxia, he'd break his legs!

After all, Jiang Banxia's father was from the education bureau, and her stepmother was a vice president at Zhongyuan Securities.

Li Yang chuckled softly, "I won't ask if you help me tell Jiang Banxia's desk-mate that I want to switch seats for a class."

"Liu Meng?"

"Right, right, Liu Meng it is."

Li Yang really couldn't recall the girl's name.

"Then Liu Dayou won't let me leave this classroom alive today."

"Why....."

Li Yang didn't finish the question because he realized something – they both have the surname Liu.

He remembered that there was indeed a daughter of Liu Dayou's in the class.

The class hadn't changed members for two and a half years, and everyone was familiar. Claiming not to know Liu Meng would be too odd.

"Then give me Jiang Banxia's QQ number."

Wu Tianqi looked panicked, "What do you want it for? Didn't you say only one girl was allowed on your QQ?"

"Exactly, so I deleted Wang Manqi."
