Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Aviation Road's Top Dog

Li Yang returned to the office, intending to sneak a basketball for Wu Tianqi.

He deliberately chose a time when most students had left, and finding no sign of Liu Dayou at the office entrance, considered this a heaven-sent opportunity.

Unexpectedly, he bumped into Wang Manqi.

He hadn't prepared to say anything yet, and then noticed a boy behind him looking quite nervous.

The boy seemed familiar, probably from his own class, but Li Yang had completely forgotten his name.

Why the heck are you nervous! Wang Manqi is a die-hard looks fanatic, she doesn't care about you at all!

In Wang Manqi's mind, money and looks rank equally at the top, everything else comes second.

If you're poor and not handsome, flattering her is the fastest way to get rejected.

This was why Li Yang always held onto a glimmer of hope in his past life.

He simply said to Wang Manqi: "I know you like me, but right now I just want to focus on my studies and don't want to date. If admitting I'm wrong makes you feel better, then I'll admit I'm wrong. Be good, alright…"

Li Yang even lightly patted Wang Manqi on the shoulder, and after speaking, walked into the office.

Upon hearing this, the light faded from Liu Wenxuan's eyes.

From the first moment he saw Wang Manqi today, he had decided he wouldn't marry anyone but her... yet his goddess turned out to be desperately flattering the worst-performing guy in the class?

He originally wanted to change his QQ signature later to: Love is, when in the self-study room, you just happened to struggle with a question, and I happened to know it, and always will.

Now that's gone.

Wang Manqi glared at Li Yang, wishing she could... if it weren't for others being present.

This damned guy is simply outrageous!

Wang Manqi was convinced that Li Yang was regretting it; otherwise, he wouldn't be trying to verbally take advantage.

Perhaps because she kept refusing him, he was feeling frustrated, but after his desperate outburst, he found he still couldn't forget.

If there hadn't been others around today, he surely would have apologized to her.

Men... when others are present, can act recklessly for the sake of their fragile self-esteem.

However, Li Yang shouldn't joke about these things; the more he does so, the less likely she'll give him a chance.

Today, Li Yang might have saved face, but in the future, he will surely regret it!

...

"Where the hell is the basketball?"

Li Yang searched the office thoroughly but couldn't find a single basketball.

With this in mind, he found himself helpless.

Just as he was about to turn and leave, he noticed a pair of sinister eyes.

Liu Dayou, this guy, had somehow shown up under his nose without warning.

Li Yang seriously suspected he possessed some super tracking ability; otherwise, how could this happen?

Liu Dayou faced him with a stern expression and said, "Li Yang, what are you doing here instead of returning to the dormitory?"

Li Yang, with no other choice, said sheepishly, "Jiang Banxia left some revision materials here and asked me to get them for her and bring them to class tomorrow."

Liu Dayou, flames of anger rising, said, "What does Jiang Banxia's business have to do with you? With less than a month until the college entrance exam, you better behave! If you don't straighten up, tomorrow you'll be kicked out of the classroom, don't bother coming to class!"

He rarely used foul language, given his role as a teacher.

But this guy Li Yang was determined to cut off his future prospects.

Even as a middle-aged man, Liu Dayou had to admit Li Yang was a bit handsome. If he led Jiang Banxia astray, his only chance of producing a Qingbei student in his career would be ruined.

Jiang Banxia's chances of getting into Qingbei were already on the brink, and if her mindset were disrupted, she'd likely fail to make it.

"I just want to study well, is that…"

"Say that again!"

Liu Dayou interrupted gravely before he could finish his sentence. "Study well? What were you doing before this? I won't interfere with what you do in the next month, but don't approach Jiang Banxia again! Promise me this, and I'll treat you to a meal after the college entrance exam. If you don't promise, neither of us will look good!"

"Okay, fine."

"Leave the materials, I'll give them to her tomorrow. Remember your promise…"

Liu Dayou pushed Li Yang out of the office, then turned off the lights and locked the door.

He felt terrible inside.

Jiang Banxia hadn't returned, so he wandered the campus for a while, then saw the two of them happily chatting under the streetlight.

He didn't dare say anything then, fearing he'd trigger Jiang Banxia's rebellious mindset, so he privately confronted Li Yang.

After all, even if Li Yang developed a rebellious mindset, he was already dragging behind, how much worse could it get?

...

Li Yang returned to the dormitory, feeling like he'd forgotten something.

Then, the group of card-playing guys distracted him.

The four guys in the dorm were playing feverishly, with the stakes being small. The game was based on points; whoever loses the most has to buy ice cream for the person who wins the most the following day.

Li Yang grabbed a cigarette, went to the balcony, and messaged Jiang Banxia.

"Caught by the homeroom teacher, he said he'll bring you the revision materials tomorrow."

Quickly, Jiang Banxia replied with a 'terrified' emoji.

"Did the teacher give you a hard time?"

"Nah, I made it hard for him."

Li Yang didn't feel Liu Dayou did anything wrong, given how serious the situation was.

He just had no choice.

Should he go to a teacher with basic knowledge questions? Talking is easy, but after a few questions, they'd surely lose patience.

As for other classmates, without much camaraderie, who would willingly sacrifice their time?

There was only Jiang Banxia, incidental fate had created a small connection between them.

Though this feeling came mysteriously, it was undoubtedly the best choice.

Jiang Banxia: "Did you argue with him again?"

Li Yang sent a 'rolling eyes' emoji, "What's on your little mind? He's a teacher, class teacher, how could a student argue with him? Jiang, do you have a misunderstanding about me?"

"Is there? Not arguing with teachers, what kind of bad student is that."

"Hey, we've been classmates for over two years, when did I ever argue with a teacher?"

"But your Aviation Road boss reputation is huge."

Jiangcheng First High School is located on Aviation Road. Once, while eating at a restaurant, Jiang Banxia heard someone directly say Li Yang's name, and the owner waived their fee.

So she tentatively tried mentioning it herself.

Turns out, it was true.

"Who the hell is spreading rumors about me? What kind of nonsense Aviation Road boss, why haven't I heard of it?"

Li Yang couldn't find any related memory, scouring his brain.

God knows, he just skipped classes, not mingled with society!

"Uh… Once, at Xiangnu's noodle shop, I heard them say your name, and the owner waived the fee."

This sentence restored Li Yang's memory.

In his past life, he didn't know which bastard went around citing his name while eating, causing him to be charged on his next visit.

The incident stemmed from trying to show off in front of Wang Manqi, he prearranged with the restaurant owner to allow anyone who mentioned his name to charge on his account.

The next day, he got stuck with five orders.

He knew who was responsible for four, the four troublemakers in the dormitory who later treated him to a meal.

But one order was 58 bucks, the culprit he hadn't figured out.

"Did you see the group of four together? Anyone else? Damn, I already know who those four are, but there's still one scoundrel who charged to my account. The owner said he was trailing behind those four, since you were there, you should remember who, or at least describe their appearance…"

That's 58 bucks.

Jiang Banxia: "..."

"You… going to do what?"

"What else, find that bastard and beat him up!"
