Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Uncle-in-law, Please, I'm Begging You

In Wang Manqi's view, Li Yang being with Jiang Banxia could only mean one of two things.

Either Li Yang had somehow convinced Jiang Banxia to put on an act for her.

Or they were merely classmates, and Li Yang was adept at creating a close atmosphere between them.

But how do you explain this QQ friend?

Topping it off with Jiang Banxia's avatar, calling Li Yang husband?

This couldn't have been planned in advance, could it? How did Li Yang know she'd be coming over?

Since her arrival, Li Yang hadn't made any moves, even if he wanted to register a new account through a friend, he wouldn't have had time.

Just as her mind was frazzled, she noticed Li Yang directly rejecting the other party.

Wang Manqi said, "You don't have to deliberately refuse just because I'm here. Since you're with Jiang Banxia, I wish you both happiness."

With that, she turned and left.

There have always been many boys chasing her, receiving love letters daily since middle school.

After entering high school, although love letters fell out of fashion, every day she opened QQ, dozens of people would say hello.

The only flaw Li Yang had in her eyes was his lack of money; if he had money, he'd be the perfect boyfriend.

Thus, she never agreed to Li Yang, but she'd always give him a hint.

She'd get him to help her out, share some of her little 'secrets', ask him what clothes looked good on her, but she'd use studying as an excuse to avoid accepting his confession.

She needed to wait until after the college entrance exam.

Her parents wouldn't pay for her college; her monthly stipend of over eight hundred was already killing them. If not for the court's enforcement, she wouldn't even get to attend high school.

After she turned eighteen, the court wouldn't enforce it anymore, and she would need a boyfriend to help her continue studying once she's without any income.

At the moment, only she knew how hypocritical those words of wishing them happiness were when she said them.

If it were any other girl, she could just believe Li Yang wasn't able to court her and opted for a lesser choice.

But it was Jiang Banxia.

After leaving the internet cafe, she was still thinking about the message a girl sent her last night.

She turned around and went back up to the second floor of the internet cafe.

Li Yang specifically chose a corner so if anyone approached, he'd notice immediately.

Wang Manqi's return didn't escape him; he deftly switched away from his screen.

"Li Yang, Liu Qian told me last night you specifically sought her out to contact me. What's up?"

Li Yang opened his QQ and found a newly added friend who had sent multiple messages.

He said to Wang Manqi, "See for yourself."

Wang Manqi leaned in a little, immediately recognizing it's Liu Qian's QQ. In their circle, they generally wouldn't add each other's QQ casually.

Liu Qian was Feng Ping's girlfriend and Feng Ping was Li Yang's roommate; once discovered, it'd be hard to explain.

And Liu Qian didn't just add Li Yang's QQ but also said a bunch of flirtatious things.

Starting from talking about eating, then discussing playing games together, and finally complained about Feng Ping.

Is this normal chatting?

This is flirting.

It doesn't seem clear, but the hidden stench of it was barely covered.

Yet Wang Manqi could only pretend not to understand, saying, "Maybe she misunderstood you wanted to repair our relationship and was trying to glean some information."

"Hmm?"

Wang Manqi hastily continued, "I just came to ask to avoid missing something. Now that the misunderstanding is cleared, it's fine, I won't bother you anymore."

This time, she had no excuse to stay.

If Li Yang had shown a bit more emotion, she would have seized the moment.

"Damn Li Yang, how can you be so heartless?"

After leaving, she was dazed.

"Can't I find someone else?"

"Jiang Banxia's just playing around with you, a good student used to that, finds you the bad student intriguing, really thinks you can chase her?"

"You'll see the gap after the college entrance exam!"

The more Wang Manqi analyzed, the more she felt her thoughts were right.

With Jiang Banxia being Qingbei material, how could she really be with Li Yang?

Are there no men left in the world?

Going to Qingbei, the circle she'd enter, the excellent boys around would be miles better than Li Yang.

Ultimately, she came to a conclusion.

That guy Li Yang will definitely come back! He'll regret missing today's chance; today would be her one chance to be proactive.

...

Li Yang didn't give a second thought about Wang Manqi, he knew her like the back of his hand, even the moles on her body, no one understood her better than him.

Including herself.

Whether intentionally or unintentionally, he hadn't actively done anything, Wang Manqi came to him on her own.

It's unrelated to him.

After spending two hours online, he finally gathered enough questions and compiled them into a test paper.

After confirming there were no formatting errors, he imported them to his phone, then specifically chose a remote print shop to print them out.

When leaving, he even deleted the attachments on the printing computer and cleared them out.

A brand-new set of "Huanggang Secret Test Paper: 30-Day Math Paper for the Gaokao" was officially produced.

Fortunately, the last problem was a probability question, purely descriptive, if it involved a bunch of math symbols, typing it out would have taken half a day.

Returning to the dorm, he began working through the initial problems, leaving the ones he couldn't solve for Jiang Banxia's explanation.

Around five o'clock, just as he was about to go to the cafeteria for dinner, he was stopped at the door by Wu Tianqi.

Wu Tianqi's expression was complex, a mix of anger, confusion, and more than anything else, hesitation.

"Fellow Daoist Wu, what's up?"

Wu Tianqi laughed, easing his emotions, "Um... haha, let's talk inside, no one's in your dorm, right?"

"No, those guys left after waking up."

When Li Yang returned, his roommates had just gone out.

After staring at him for a while, he was baffled.

"Alright, come inside first..."

Li Yang puzzled, "Can't we talk at the cafeteria?"

"No! Walls have ears!"

Li Yang could only follow Wu Tianqi back to the dorm.

Soon, he saw Wu Tianqi promptly lock the door and slide the latch shut.

"What the hell are you up to?"

Wu Tianqi laughed, "Um... Fellow Daoist Li... there's something I'd like to tell you."

"What is it?"

"I have a friend... wants to get to know you, please accept her friend request."

Li Yang: "..."

"Jeez, why didn't you say this earlier? It's such a trivial matter!"

Wu Tianqi was overjoyed upon hearing this, "Right, right, just this trivial thing, Fellow Daoist Li, please hurry and accept it."

"I'm about to go eat now, let's talk about this later."

"Do I not have this little bit of face?"

Wu Tianqi was anxious.

"You do, you do, but I'm not using QQ recently."

"Then how do you contact Jiang Banxia?"

"I'm obviously refusing; can't you see that?"

Li Yang now didn't want to have any interaction with Bai Qing; they were not from the same world.

Even though she managed to keep her cool to the end without losing her temper, she was essentially the same type of person as Wang Manqi.

It's not like they're inviting me to be a groom, chatting on QQ is pointless, a waste of time.

"Fellow Daoist Li, don't force me!"

"What's up? Have you secretly cultivated some powerful magic? Let me have a taste..."

Just as Li Yang finished speaking, Wu Tianqi approached him with a flattering expression, "Uncle, please add my little auntie's friend request. I'm begging you; otherwise, I'll have to face the family's most severe punishment!"
