Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Tier 2 Blood Fruit, Emergency Communication

Before leaving, Little One hurriedly pressed her War Order close to several corpses, gaining an additional 150 points on the War Order.

"Uncle Wolf, I'll transfer all the points to you later."

When Fierce Beasts or Alien Races die, the War Order allows points to be extracted twice. The second extraction yields one-third of the first, facilitating distribution among group members and encouraging the acquisition of military achievements. However, some speculate this is a shortcut for certain privileged individuals.

But there's no such thing as complete fairness in this world.

The Fierce Beast's entire body is a treasure; their fur, tendons, bones, and scales can be used for forging or medicinal purposes, and their flesh can fetch a considerable price.

For Little One, a gourmet video creator, cooking freshly slaughtered Fierce Beasts from the battlefield could bring significant views.

But she was smart too, fully aware of her current situation; she couldn't hinder Uncle Wolf's progress.

Low-level Fierce Beasts have limited intelligence but keen senses. The smell of fresh blood quickly attracted more Beasts, each sharpening their fangs and rushing toward the next in line.

With the experience of killing three Second Level Fierce Beasts earlier, Su Mu felt confident. Wearing his Second Level Battle Armor, he could withstand attacks from Second Level Fierce Beasts. He understood that as long as he stayed focused and cautious, such beasts posed little threat to him.

The hand rose, and the blade fell.

With one strike, he disemboweled a pig-shaped Fierce Beast, sidestepped a lunging blue wolf, and struck down with the blade.

Crack.

The blade of Cold Moon, fully driven by Qi Blood Power, shined fiercely as it cut through tendon and bone, sending a wolf's head flying amidst a spray of blood.

Seeing this, Little One's face turned pale, her stomach churning like Overturning River within her.

Three steps to kill a beast, blood staining the yellow earth.

Su Mu wiped the beast's blood from his face, extracted points, and stepped on the corpse to move forward, determination gleaming in his eyes.

He must leave the battlefield alive!

Ugh.

Seeing the ground littered with severed limbs and entrails, Xiao Xiangcai couldn't hold it and began to vomit.

Su Mu paused for a moment, then couldn't hold it either, and started to vomit as well. If he were ten years younger, such bloodshed would only ignite his blood.

But ever since he had a daughter, Su Mu's courage had shrunk somewhat, no longer the young man he once was.

Afterward, Little One wisely avoided the topic they both wanted to forget, and the two continued forward.

Beneath the flashing blade, one after another, Second Tier Fierce Beasts fell amidst their death cries. After each kill, Su Mu would take several deep breaths to calm his mood. Gradually, he started to adapt, gaining a better understanding of his capabilities through real combat.

"Let's rest a bit; I need to recover my Qi and Blood."

"Uncle Wolf, I'll keep watch for you. Do you need water?" Little One offered her water bottle.

Su Mu shook his head. "I have my own."

They were still within the Little Mist Mountain Range. Feeling his Qi and Blood reduced to two-thirds, Su Mu took out a Qi Blood Pill and swallowed it.

Maintaining sufficient Qi and Blood is essential, and it's also important to restore physical strength.

After a short rest, they continued on their journey.

Su Mu occasionally glanced at the War Order, which could show the location of comrades within a 20-kilometer radius and also facilitate communication. However, they hadn't been lucky enough to encounter anyone else along the way.

"Hey, Uncle Wolf, do you smell a fragrance?"

"Do you?"

Su Mu sniffed around but could only detect the rusty and salty scent of blood.

"There might be Spirit Fruit or Spirit Grass in that direction, probably more than one; I can smell two distinct fragrances," Little One speculated but made no suggestion, leaving the choice to Su Mu.

Could Little One be part canine, with such a keen nose?

"Let's go check it out then."

They were about to exit the Little Mist Mountain Range, so spending a little time wouldn't hurt. After advancing a few hundred meters, Su Mu slashed through the dense bushes, revealing a small tree as tall as a person, bearing small, red, jujube-sized fruits, along with three lush stalks of Spiritual Medicine.

"Uncle Wolf, these red fruits are Tier Two Blood Fruits. Eating them directly can quickly restore Qi and Blood, with effects superior to Tier One elixirs. They can also be refined into Second Level or even Third Level Qi Blood Elixirs."

"These three stalks with slender leaves and wind patterns along the edges are Little Wind Grass, also Tier Two Spiritual Medicine. They're quite pricey, but you can't eat them directly; they're typically used in elixirs to temporarily boost speed."

Little One explained excitedly. Su Mu was surprised at Little One's seemingly adept knowledge of Spiritual Medicine.

"Uncle Wolf, I'm a gourmet video creator. It's not strange for me to recognize some Spiritual Medicine," Little One explained, noticing Su Mu's surprise.

"All these Spiritual Medicines were discovered by you. These seven Blood Fruits are useful to me, so I'll take them. The three stalks are yours."

"No, no, I haven't done anything. You take them all, Uncle Wolf. I'll just take a video, is that okay?" Little One waved her hands, knowing she'd been relying on Uncle Wolf all this way and dared not claim any Spiritual Medicine.

Without hesitation, after Little One took a video, Su Mu took it all.

Exiting the Little Mist Mountains, the sky darkened, and night fell.

Before entering the battlefield, Su Mu had made sufficient preparations. The day-night cycle within the battlefield was faster than the outside. Nighttime is when the Beasts are most active, and he didn't plan to take unnecessary risks.

"There's an open area ahead; let's rest there and set out again when it's daylight."

The night passed in silence, with the wind howling, blown from the Oblique Wind Plain.

In the middle of the night, Little One awoke with a start, looking suspiciously in one direction.

"What's wrong?"

Su Mu was never in deep sleep; he only closed his eyes to rejuvenate using his Breathing Technique. Upon Little One's awakening, he opened his eyes immediately.

"Uncle Wolf, I seem to smell blood and even hear some screams...probably from that direction."

Little One pointed, and Su Mu followed her direction, pulling out his map and War Order. A flicker of shock crossed his heart, for that was the direction of the base camp.

Little One leaned closer to take a look and voiced her unease upon realizing it was the direction of the base camp.

"Uncle Wolf... Do you think something's happened to the base camp?"

Su Mu listened carefully for a while, but the wind was too strong at night. He couldn't hear any screams or smell anything. He looked down at the War Order.

They were less than forty kilometers from the base camp. If something had indeed happened, they should encounter fleeing comrades, yet the War Order still showed only two light points.

After the day's incident with the Spiritual Medicine, Su Mu preferred to trust what could be possible.

"Rest up; we'll find out for sure in the morning."

As he spoke, Su Mu closed his eyes again, though a growing sense of foreboding lingered in his heart. Feeling reassured by Su Mu's calm tone, Little One relaxed slightly. It was fortunate to have Uncle Wolf by her side.

Little One thought that the Alien Race Battlefield had been peaceful for so long; her luck couldn't possibly be so bad as to encounter an anomaly the moment she stepped in.

Surely, it was just a result of being too tense, leading to hallucinations.

She resolved to bid farewell to Uncle Wolf upon returning to the base camp the next day and leave the battlefield. She still had to take her Martial Arts Exam and planned to apply as a special admission student to the Alchemy Department of the South China Martial Arts University.

Shortly after they closed their eyes.

The War Order trembled lightly, displaying several lines of red text—an emergency communication.

[The passage is closing...]

[Escape quickly...]

[Alien Race Five...]

Looking at the broken messages on the War Order, Su Mu and Little One exchanged glances. Although they didn't understand the final 'Alien Race Five'.

The meanings behind the first two messages, 'The passage is closing' and 'Escape quickly', were obvious.

Something could indeed be wrong at the base camp!

At that moment, the War Order displayed light points beside the two of them for the first time, lighting up one after another.
