Chapter 2 - "When God and Godslayer Meet"

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Newbie Master: "Alright then, let's get started!"

A moment later, the group notification chimed.

[The Flame Goddess has sent you a red envelope. Receive it?]

[Receive!]

At once, a drop of divine blood and a wisp of divine power appeared in front of Alex. They merged together, forming a crimson glow that sank into his back.

Within seconds, a torch-shaped tattoo appeared on his skin.

Then, another message popped up—this time, not in the group chat, but as a private DM.

Wulin Leader: "I gave you martial arts manuals, and yet you still went and became that fire goddess's follower? Why?"

Her tone was sharp, full of disappointment—like a teacher scolding a lazy student.

Alex rubbed his forehead helplessly. If only I could actually read those manuals.

Newbie Master: "Master Luo, I am Chinese, sure—but I'm also a modern guy. Those manuals are in old-style traditional Chinese! I can't even read them!"

Wulin Leader: "You could've asked me! I would've taught you."

Newbie Master: "I don't have time. The Holy Grail chose me as a Master—I've been dragged into a Holy Grail War. If I don't get stronger fast, I'm dead."

Wulin Leader: "A Holy Grail War? That dangerous?"

Newbie Master: "Yeah. Basically…"

He spent a while explaining what a Holy Grail War was and how it worked in the Type-Moon world.

Wulin Leader: "Interesting… Summoning heroic spirits to fight, huh? In that case, allow me to lend you a hand."

Alex's heart leapt.

Newbie Master: "Wait, you mean—?"

Wulin Leader: "The chat group allows members to post missions using points. Post one. Once I accept it, I can descend into your world myself. I'd like to see how strong these 'Heroic Spirits' really are."

Newbie Master: "That's amazing! With your help, victory's basically guaranteed!"

Without wasting time, Alex started browsing the chat group features.Besides the main chat window, there were tabs for Sign-In, Missions, Trading, and Livestreams.

Every member could check in once a day to earn 10 points—basically, the group's shared currency.Points could be traded between worlds for goods and resources.

He didn't bother exploring the rest and quickly tapped the sign-in button.

[Sign-In Successful: +10 Points!]

With those, he went to the Mission tab and posted one immediately.

Mission: Help me win the Holy Grail War.Difficulty: ★★★★★Reward: 10 Points

[Newbie Master has posted a mission: "Holy Grail War." Difficulty: 5 stars. Reward: 10 points.]

[Wulin Leader has accepted the mission!]

Bilibili: "Huh? What's going on?"Fairy Queen: "New guy's already causing chaos?"

Imperial General: "Holy Grail War? Sounds interesting."

[Imperial General has accepted the mission!]

Violent Swordsman: "Five stars? Yeah, that's above my pay grade."

Flame Goddess: "My dear A-Che, wait for me! I'm coming too!"

[Flame Goddess has accepted the mission!]

Ghosted: "That idiot goddess again? The Wulin Leader's a godslayer! You'll just make things worse!"Fifth Hokage: "A god and a godslayer… this'll be something."Bilibili: "@NewbieMaster start a stream already! We need to see this showdown of the century!"

[Demon Mage has accepted the mission!]

Bilibili: "You too?!"

Demon Mage: "Oops, misclicked."

Bilibili: "…"

Ghosted: "…"

Violent Swordsman: "…"

Meanwhile, Alex had no idea multiple people could accept the same mission.

In Fuyuki City's deep mountain park, four beams of light appeared in quick succession.

When the light faded, Luo Hao, Hestia, Esdeath, and Roxy stood before him.

Luo Hao was even more breathtaking than her photos—beautiful and regal.

Hestia, the flame goddess, had divine charm too: petite, curvy, her white dress and blue ribbons giving her a dangerously cute aura—almost too much.

Roxy looked like another "legal loli," wearing a black witch's hat, a matching dress, and brown coat, her twin blue braids falling neatly behind her. A staff as tall as she was rested in her hand. Her delicate face didn't lose to any of the others.

And then there was Esdeath—the battle-hungry queen herself. With that long blue hair and those piercing eyes, she looked like an ice fairy in a military uniform. Tall, commanding, and exuding pure dominance.

Alex was just about to greet them when boom!—Hestia and Luo Hao's auras erupted at the same time.

The shockwave hit him like a truck. He was sent flying before he could even blink.

Esdeath moved first—launching forward in a blur and catching him midair before retreating to safety.

Roxy wasn't so lucky. The collision of divine power and martial might threw her off her feet too, but she quickly chanted a spell.A glowing shield shimmered into being just in time to cushion her fall.

She scrambled to Alex's side and saw blood at the corner of his mouth.

"Holy power that nourishes all, grant renewal to the one whose strength is lost—Heal!"

Her staff glowed green, bathing him in light. His wounds closed in seconds.

"Thanks, Roxy," Alex said, standing back up.

"No problem," she replied with a small wave.

Meanwhile, Hestia and Luo Hao were still clashing—both powers reaching their peaks. The entire park was being torn apart by divine and magical force.

"This is bad," Alex muttered. "A god and a godslayer can't coexist—it's always fight to the death."

Esdeath, on the other hand, was grinning like a kid in a candy store."Now that's real power. I'd love to fight them someday!"

Of course, she wasn't dumb enough to actually rush in—just fired up by the thought. Her desire for strength only grew stronger.

Meanwhile, the group chat was going insane, everyone tagging Alex, Esdeath, and Roxy, begging them to start a livestream.

Esdeath ignored it. Alex was racking his brain for a way to stop the fight.

Roxy sighed and opened a livestream.

The group's livestream system didn't even need a camera—it automatically filmed from the perfect angles, with full coverage. It could even add editing and voiceover effects on the fly, turning a real fight into a cinematic spectacle.

And through that stream, everyone in the chat could feel the crushing power filling the air.

"..."
