Chapter 1 - "The Master, the Grail, and the Group Chat"

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Late at night, in Fuyuki City.

In a quiet park in Miyama Town, Alex sat on a swing, staring blankly at the crimson Command Seals glowing faintly on the back of his hand. His thoughts were a mess.

Good news: he had actually transmigrated—into the Type-Moon world, no less, his favorite of all universes.

Bad news: it was a full physical transmigration. No background. No ID. No records. Basically, an illegal ghost resident.

Even worse, aside from his body reverting to sixteen years old, he didn't get any sort of cheat ability. No system. No golden finger. Nothing.

Because he was broke and couldn't speak Japanese, he didn't even have a place to sleep.

But the biggest problem of all—he'd somehow been chosen by the Holy Grail as a Master.

A completely ordinary guy, dragged into the Holy Grail War. Might as well walk straight into the morgue.

"Maybe I could summon a Servant to protect myself?" he muttered.

Then he remembered—he didn't know any magecraft. No circuits, no mana, no clue.

"Seriously, what kind of cosmic joke is this!?" Alex groaned.

He even considered going to the church to find Kirei Kotomine, maybe bow out of the war and get church protection in exchange.

But right at that moment, a glowing sci-fi-looking interface popped up in front of his eyes.

[The Multiverse Chat Group has invited you to join. Accept invitation?]

Alex's eyes widened. His exhaustion vanished instantly.

Of course! What kind of transmigrator doesn't get a golden finger sooner or later?

[Join!]

The invitation screen flickered and morphed into a chat window.

[System Message: Welcome "Newbie Master" to the Multiverse Chat Group!]

Violent Swordswoman: "Oh? A new member! Welcome!"

Fairy Queen: "Welcome, newcomer!"

Fifth Hokage: "Your nickname's weird. What's a 'Master'?"

Imperial General: "Maybe it's some kind of title, like your 'Hokage' thing?"

Bilibili: "The newbie's a guy? Wow, I thought this group only invited girls!"

Can See Ghosts: "How'd you know he's a guy?"

Bilibili: "He's got a photo as his avatar."

Can See Ghosts: "Ohhh, you're right. He's kinda cute, actually."

Holy Fire Goddess: "Newcomer, would you like to become one of my followers?"

Demon Sorceress: "Are you planning to make everyone your follower?"

Alex stared at the chat with a grin spreading across his face.

Those usernames… he knew all of them.

"Fairy Queen" had to be Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail."Violent Swordswoman"? A peek at her profile pic confirmed it—Saeko Busujima from Highschool of the Dead."Bilibili" was obviously Misaka Mikoto."Fifth Hokage" — Tsunade."Imperial General" — Esdeath."Can See Ghosts" — Miko Yotsuya from Mieruko-chan."Holy Fire Goddess" — Hestia from DanMachi."Demon Sorceress" — Roxy Migurdia from Mushoku Tensei.

Realizing this was that kind of chat group, Alex finally decided to speak up.

Newbie Master: "Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I'm Alex."

Martial Alliance Leader: "You're from Huaxia (China)?"Can See Ghosts: "Oh wow, the silent member finally speaks!"Fairy Queen: "Guess he saw someone from his homeland and couldn't resist talking."Violent Swordswoman: "Patriotism runs deep, huh?"

Alex blinked. "Wait, there's another member? That username's super traditional… don't tell me they're Chinese too?"

He tapped the avatar.

A full-body portrait appeared: a breathtaking young woman, seventeen or eighteen, dressed in flowing white hanfu, her black silk hair braided into three thick strands tied upright.

"…No way. It's her!"

He recognized her instantly—Luo Hao, the Demon King from Campione!, High Priestess of the Five Mountains Holy Sect.

Newbie Master: "Yes, Sect Leader Luo."

Martial Alliance Leader: "You know who I am?"

Newbie Master: "The Demon King who slew gods. My world had legends about you."

Martial Alliance Leader: "So that's how it is. You're not bad. I see 'newbie' in your name—you must be weak. I'll send you some martial arts manuals. Train hard, and don't bring shame to Huaxia!"

After that, a red envelope notification popped up.

[Member "Martial Alliance Leader" has sent you a red packet. Accept?]

Alex stared, stunned. She was giving him martial arts manuals… just because he was Chinese?

No wonder in the novels, Luo Hao despised the Marquis Voban for killing Chinese gods, and even repeatedly traveled to Japan to punish that "disgraceful monkey" for trapping Sun Wukong.

This woman really cared about national pride.

Alex considered himself patriotic, but compared to her, he was basically a casual fan.

Violent Swordswoman: "Wait, the Martial Alliance Leader's a Demon King? And she's killed gods!?"

Demon Sorceress: "That sounds insane!"

Bilibili: "@Holy Fire Goddess, uh-oh, you might be in danger!"

Holy Fire Goddess: "What? That's impossible! A mortal can't kill a god—must be fake!"

Imperial General: "Killing a god, huh? Sounds fun. I wanna try."

Holy Fire Goddess: "You people need to stop right there!"

Can See Ghosts: "I can't believe she sent the newbie such precious gifts… just because they're both Chinese?"

Demon Sorceress: "So jealous right now!"

After that, Luo Hao didn't say another word, ignoring the group's chatter completely.

Alex finally snapped out of his daze, excitement flooding his chest. He immediately tapped "Accept."

[Congratulations! Member 'Newbie Master' has received: Beiming Divine Art, Lingbo Footwork, and Plum Blossom Hand!]

"All three are from the Xiaoyao Sect!"

He remembered that Luo Hao's Child Elder Skill also originated from the Xiaoyao Sect's Eight Desolations and Six Harmonies, Only I Am Supreme technique. Maybe there really was a connection there.

The novels didn't detail her martial arts much—mostly focused on her divine powers—but as a god-slayer and the leader of all martial artists, she must've had plenty of secret techniques tucked away.

When Alex looked down, three ancient-looking manuals materialized in his hands.

He flipped one open—and froze.

Traditional Chinese. Classical style.

Dense text filled with technical jargon: meridians, acupoints, qi sea, spirit pivot, cultivation essence, inner breath...

He couldn't understand a single line.

He'd thought getting Luo Hao's manuals would make him overpowered instantly. Guess not.

Just as frustration started creeping in, someone tagged him.

Holy Fire Goddess: "@Alex, little brother, want to become one of my followers?"

Alex blinked. Oh right—the DanMachi system.

Join a god's Familia, receive a blessing, then level up by fighting monsters.

The only problem was—it took time. Even Bell, the MC with every cheat possible, needed over a month just to reach Level 2.

And the Holy Grail War was starting soon. He didn't have that kind of time.

Right now, the only person who could actually help him get stronger fast… was Luo Hao.

In the Campione! world, if you slay a rogue god, you gain their divine Authority and power. Instant top-tier.

If he asked Luo Hao to help him slay a god—would she agree?

He glanced at the chat window again, fingers flying.

Newbie Master: "I can join your Familia, but… how would you give me your blessing?"

Holy Fire Goddess: "That's easy! I can send it through a red packet or a group trade."

Violent Swordswoman: "Yup! I'm one of her followers too."

Can See Ghosts: "Me too~!"

Alex stared at the chat, utterly amazed.

This group… was seriously overpowered.
