Chapter 76 - "Divine Sorcery and the Spear"

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Wuxia King wants to turn his own younger brother into a Godslayer too?" Erica was sharp. She figured it out instantly.

"Looks that way," Paul replied. He started the engine and drove over to Alex and the others.

Besides him, Diana Militello did the same.

The two got out of their cars and bowed respectfully to Luo Hao. "My King, if you have any orders, please give them to us directly."

Luo Hao nodded and told them to arrange another car and a driver. With Hestia giving directions, they set off toward Melqart's location.

Paul and Diana followed behind.

Before long, they arrived at a run-down, ancient temple.

Inside stood a pure white statue, faintly glowing.

To an ordinary person, this would look like a miracle.

But the magi present all sucked in a sharp breath, their expressions changing instantly.

They could feel it.The aura of a Heretic God.

"Is that… Baal's statue?" Erica couldn't help asking.

"No. It's Melqart," Paul corrected her.

"A god king?" Fear crept into Erica's eyes.

This was the king of the Phoenician pantheon.

Hestia studied the statue, sensing it carefully, then turned to Alex. "Alex, this guy was injured, but he's almost recovered. With your current strength, you definitely can't beat him."

"Can you possess me?" Alex suddenly asked.

"You're thinking—?" Hestia's eyes lit up.

"Exactly." Alex nodded.

"Not bad! You actually thought of that!" Hestia was delighted, excitement practically spilling out of her gaze.

"I didn't come up with it," Alex said with a smile. "Someone already proved it works."

"The Sword King?" Luo Hao realized at once.

"Yeah. That guy." Alex nodded again.

Salvatore Doni's first godslaying had happened precisely like this. He had been possessed by the god Saint George, fought other gods, and after Saint George was killed by the god king Nuada, Doni regained control. Using his swordsmanship, he finished off Nuada and stole his Authority.

Calling it "defeated by swordsmanship" was generous. Nuada had already been gravely wounded fighting Saint George.

Otherwise, how could an ordinary human Doni have slain a god?

Now Alex planned to use the same method. Let Hestia possess him, fight Melqart, and once Melqart was beaten half to death, Alex would deliver the final blow himself.

"Then let's start already. Stop dragging it out," Hestia said.

She turned into a streak of firelight and plunged straight into Alex's body.

Watching from afar, Paul, Diana, Erica, and Liliyana were all stunned.

Letting a god possess you to slay another god—what kind of insane move was that?

Because of the blessing between them, Alex and Hestia were already linked.

Now that she had fully possessed him, she had complete control.

Boom!

Flames erupted around Alex. Under the searing heat, his hair turned crimson.

His black eyes burned red.

He raised his right hand, a fireball forming in his palm.

Hestia's voice echoed within him. "We could use Vesta, but it would damage your body too much. Let's fight using your abilities."

Alex's voice followed. "Can ordinary magecraft really affect a god?"

"On its own, no," Hestia replied. "But when I use it, reinforced by divine power, it stops being ordinary magic."

"I see. Got it."

After that, he stopped talking to himself and stepped directly toward the statue.

He struck out with a palm.

Vast divine power poured forth, shattering the statue into fragments.

"Who dares disturb this king!"A deep, thunderous male voice rang out.

A beam of divine light burst from the broken statue, transforming into a towering purple giant.

He wielded two weapons that looked like wooden hammers—the divine artifacts Exile and Pursuer.

Exile was etched with lightning runes.Pursuer bore symbols of raging storms.

Although Hestia was controlling his body, Alex still saw everything from his own perspective.

The moment he saw those two divine artifacts, he instinctively activated Unlimited Blade Works to analyze them.

Under normal circumstances, his level wasn't high enough to analyze divine weapons.

But right now, there was a real goddess inside him.

With Hestia's overwhelming divine power, it was as if she herself was using Unlimited Blade Works to analyze them.

So Alex succeeded.

He deciphered the structure of both artifacts and replicated perfect copies within Unlimited Blade Works.

It worked. This is amazing! Alex was thrilled.

Hestia didn't bother with his little side project. Her gaze fixed on Melqart.

"In my world, there's also a Melqart," she said calmly. "And he's much stronger than you."

Then she attacked.

She snapped her fingers.

Unlimited Blade Works activated instantly, without chanting.

In a heartbeat, everyone was swallowed by the Reality Marble.

No—after Hestia used it, it couldn't even be called a barrier anymore.

It was a small world.

A darkened sky, clouds lit by fire, massive gears turning, and a wasteland with countless weapons stabbed into the ground.

Melqart's face twisted. "Damn human. You intend to slay me?"

"You talk too much," Hestia replied, snapping her fingers again.

In the next instant, all the weapons embedded in the ground shot upward, turning into a rain of blades that screamed toward Melqart.

Melqart swung Pursuer, and towering tornadoes rose from the earth.

Like roaring wind dragons, they coiled around him, blocking the incoming swords.

But no matter how he resisted, the weapons were endless.

They shattered, only to be copied again and again.

Hestia raised a finger and began writing words in the air using rune magic.

Durable.Unbreakable.Anti-magic.Armor-piercing.Anti-god.

As she wrote, the words turned into streaks of light and fused into the weapons within Unlimited Blade Works.

Empowered, those weapons were instantly elevated into full-fledged divine artifacts.

At that point, Melqart couldn't hold on anymore.

The wind dragons he summoned were shredded in an instant. He hurriedly activated Divine Protection.

All Heretic Gods in this world could use it—a transparent golden barrier covered in divine script.

This protection alone was something no human could break.

But Alex was no longer human.

With Hestia possessing him, any magecraft she used was elevated into divine sorcery.

Divine Protection lasted only a few seconds before being shattered by countless divine weapons.

"Damn it! What kind of ability is this?!" Melqart roared.

Hestia didn't answer. She simply copied Divine Protection after seeing it once.

As a goddess herself, she could use it too.

"Pretty useful ability," Hestia said with a grin.

She then projected a long spear.

Using rune magic, she imbued it with sharpness, durability, anti-magic, armor-piercing, and godslaying properties.

In the next moment, she charged straight at Melqart, going in for close combat.

Melqart swung Exile wildly, calling down bolts of lightning to destroy the incoming projected weapons.

With a gesture of her left hand, Hestia pulled those weapons back behind her, letting them attack alongside her.

Melqart instantly fell into chaos.

He was huge, but his combat skills were terrible.

Compared to Hestia, the difference was night and day.

As a goddess who had lived for hundreds of millions of years in the Dungeon world, Hestia was vastly superior to the gods of this world.

That time span had allowed her to learn everything, reaching a state close to omniscience.

Her martial skill was no worse than Luo Hao's.

Even at his peak, Melqart wouldn't have been her match—let alone now, while injured.

In no time at all, he was covered in wounds.

Watching from afar, Luo Hao's expression shifted slightly when she saw Hestia's strength.

Back in the Type-Moon world, Hestia hadn't been this powerful.

Had she been holding back then?

Or had she grown stronger?

Nearby, Paul and the others were breathing hard.

Melqart was about to fall.

The seventh Godslayer was about to be born.

To witness the birth of a Godslayer in one's lifetime—there were no regrets even in death.

Hestia kicked Melqart to the ground, then withdrew from Alex's body, returning control to him.

"I left a bit of divine power inside you for the finishing blow!" she shouted.

"Understood." Alex nodded, his expression solemn.

His grip on the spear shifted into a throwing stance.

He leapt high into the air and hurled it down at the fallen Melqart.

He poured every ounce of his strength into that spear.

And the sliver of divine power Hestia had left him!

Mekar's eyes widened at the sight, a flash of unwillingness crossing his face.

"Despicable humans… and traitors to our kind! You've won by foul means. You'll pay for this! I… will return!"

The next instant, the spear pierced his heart.

Silence.

The god was slain.

At the same time, Alex received a notification in the group chat.

[Group Notice: Member Alex has slain a deity, earning 5,000 points!]

A manic grin spread across Alex's face, but then a sudden dizziness overtook him, and he collapsed.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a bleak, gray world.

"..."
