Sallie's POV
Rowan and I both knew about our ties to Charlie, but neither of us had brought it up before.
I wondered why Rowan was asking about this now. Then it hit me—that's why he'd suddenly gotten close to me. His real target had always been Charlie.
Rowan had shipped Charlie off to St. Chaim Reform Academy, and Charlie had been dead for ages. I knew Rowan mentioning him now couldn't mean anything good.
Charlie had told me exactly what kind of man Rowan was, so before today, I would never have admitted that Charlie had shared anything about him with me.
But since there were sketchy things going on between Rowan and Jill, I wasn't about to let this chance slip by.
After a moment's thought, I said, "We're sharing secrets, right? If you're so desperate to know what Charlie told me, maybe you should show some good faith first.
"How about starting with the secrets about Jill—you know, the one I can't stand but who's been hanging around you lately."
