Chapter 29 - Cracking the Serum

Peter heard Ben's words and quickly took the notebook over.

The densely packed formulas made Ben's eyes blur.

In fact, if it weren't for Little Broken Watch allowing Ben to transform into Grey Matter, even with ten more years, he probably wouldn't have understood the content. But Peter never doubted it; in his eyes, Ben was omnipotent!

"Then I..."

"You go find Connors," Ben said, also getting into action.

Without a laboratory and equipment, even if he could crack the formulas, he couldn't create the serum.

"Is Osborn Tower empty today?"

Peter shook his head, "Not a soul."

He was actually a bit puzzled; even if Dr. Connors had a problem, why was the entire Osborn Enterprise deserted? Not to mention that Dr. Connors' identity hadn't even been exposed.

Ben, however, thought a bit more deeply.

Considering the recent troubles Norman Osborn had been facing, all of this wasn't so strange anymore.

"Since that's the case, I'll go borrow some equipment from Osborn Tower." After parting ways with Peter, he headed towards Osborn.

Just as Peter had said, Osborn Tower seemed completely empty.

The usually bustling Osborn Tower was now deserted.

However, he didn't go in immediately. Even if Osborn Tower was empty, the instruments and equipment were still running, especially the surveillance systems. Ben didn't want his secrets to be recorded and exposed.

He first went to a nearby mall and bought a high-spec laptop, then walked to the rooftop of the adjacent building and turned on the computer.

The watch face popped out, locking onto Grey Matter.

"First, let me start by cracking Osborn Tower's network system."

Directly linking to Osborn's internal network and then disabling the surveillance or creating fake footage was the best approach. And it was easy for Grey Matter.

"Osborn's software system isn't that difficult to hack."

Ben, now transformed into Grey Matter, squatted in front of the laptop. His frog-like horizontal pupils watched a string of code flash before his eyes, the rapidly moving characters appearing as clear as if they were stationary.

His eyelids closed from the sides.

Galvans had two ways of blinking: one was the normal closing of upper and lower eyelids, but sometimes their lateral eyelids would also close.

"I didn't expect that for such a large company as Osborn, the network system's firewall would be so weak," he said in surprise.

However, he was overlooking Earth's technological level.

It wasn't that Osborn's firewall was too weak, but rather that his technology was too advanced!

"This computer is much better than the old one at home," he said, tapping the computer with satisfaction.

The two computers Peter and he had used before were both second-hand finds from Uncle Ben, salvaged from discarded items. Even by today's standards, they were outdated, and their tower cases roared like sports car engines every time they booted up.

At this moment, on the computer screen, rows of prompt boxes flashed by rapidly.

The system had been successfully hacked, and Grey Matter's transformation had about twenty-seven minutes left.

This meant he had hacked into Osborn Enterprise in less than three minutes, and that was with the limitation of the laptop's performance.

If he had used a more advanced computer, it would probably have only taken a few seconds.

However, he wasn't planning to enter Osborn Tower immediately.

Acting in Grey Matter's form was somewhat inconvenient, so he decided to wait until his transformation time was over before going.

"I need to hurry and try to crack Little Broken Watch to get administrative privileges. Waiting this long every time is a hassle." He glanced back; his wide field of vision could only see a small part of the watch face on his back.

With plenty of time left, Ben took out Peter's father's laptop and began to crack it.

"No wonder Peter and Connors' experiment failed."

He immediately saw the reason for Connors' mutation.

Peter's parents had researched the spider gene to create a mutated super spider, but they hadn't actually achieved complete cross-species gene inheritance.

In reality, to stabilize the serum, gene adaptation needed to be done beforehand.

But Peter and Connors had overlooked this, or rather, the notebook didn't mention it at all. Ben, with his current intelligence, could see this flaw, but Peter and Connors couldn't.

And a more significant problem was that even with prior gene adaptation, complete stability couldn't be guaranteed.

It could be said that the formula left by Richard Parker was inherently flawed, and he knew it very well himself. That's why, even though he had adapted Peter's genes within the mutated spider long ago, he hadn't immediately experimented on him.

In other words, Peter, like Connors, was at risk of mutating into a spider monster.

It was just that the spider gene in Peter was more stable, and unless something unexpected happened, there was no immediate cause for concern.

But as Peter's spider abilities continued to strengthen, this balance would eventually be broken.

"You should consider yourself lucky to have a good cousin."

Ben pinched his chin and began recalculating the formula.

The antidote for the Lizard Serum was easy to make; it just required reversing the formula. However, stabilizing Peter's genes would take a little more time.

Of course, it was only a little bit of time...

Ten minutes later, Ben stretched.

Before him, the notebook was already filled with formulas.

He had not only derived a serum to stabilize Peter's genes but also a perfect Lizard Serum.

Of course, he had removed the superpowers that came with the Lizard Serum, retaining only its medical applications. He didn't want the world to be filled with superhumans.

Although the serum itself had not yet been experimentally verified, Ben was quite confident.

"With this, Primus's medical project is complete," Ben thought happily. "However, this serum is too perfect. If it were immediately put on the market, it would actually be troublesome."

A single vial of serum could regenerate severed limbs. Ben couldn't even imagine how many medical companies would hate him if this thing were actually released.

He planned to reduce the serum's potency many times over before releasing it to the market.

With a little time left, Ben didn't idle. Instead, he used Grey Matter's mind to start learning.

Ten minutes later, Ben, who had already reverted from Grey Matter, put away his notebook and looked towards Osborn Tower.

Just then, the sky had also darkened.

"It's time to act."

The steps for debugging the serum were all written in his notebook.

Ben closed the notebook and leaped from the rooftop of the building into the night.

At the same time, inside Osborn Enterprise, a gaunt, sinister-looking white-haired old man was playing with his little parrot.

"Lizard Serum, what a great invention!"

He picked up a small vial of the serum, looked at its crystal-clear appearance, and exclaimed loudly!
