Sandy's POV
"Good. Then it's time for a temporary goodbye."
Zayden spoke those words with finality.
Before I could process his intentions, his fingers wrapped around mine, forcing my hand into a fist. The pendant pressed against my palm, and he vanished without a trace.
I stood frozen, staring at the vacant space where he had been moments before. My breathing came in sharp, uneven bursts. This game I was playing balanced on a razor's edge.
One miscalculation could land me on the enemy list of a vampire lord, a formidable vampire woman, the former Alpha King, and the current Alpha King combined.
But for now, Zayden showed no signs of suspicion toward me.
All he needed to do was persuade Charles' mother to break this curse. Once that happened, he could abandon any thought of controlling me.
I was no longer the Luna who honored her promises blindly.
These men had been deceiving and betraying me at every opportunity. They deserved exactly what they had given me in return.
