The light came first.
Not blinding. Not dramatic. Just… inevitable.
Theo was still holding me when my body began to feel lighter, like gravity was loosening its grip one cruel inch at a time. The warehouse around us blurred at the edges, colors bleeding softly as if the world itself knew it was being dismissed.
Theo felt it.
His arms tightened.
"Evelina?" His voice dropped, instinct sharpening. "Why do you feel… far?"
I forced myself to breathe.
This was it. No more stalling. No more pretending the ending wouldn't come just because my heart had changed its mind.
"Theo," I whispered, fingers curling into his shirt one last time. "Listen to me—"
The light crept higher, up my arms, my shoulders, and my chest. Theo pulled back, golden eyes widening. "What's happening? why do you feel like you're disappearing?"
I opened my mouth. A thousand things waited there—apologies, promises, regrets, love—But only one escaped.
"Goodbye, Theo…"
