POV Yuji
Six months after the fight with Sukuna
Months had passed since my fight with Sukuna. I won — even now, it feels unbelievable.
But what do I have left to fight for? Honestly, I probably don't care anymore.
I was given the Special Grade class — one of the few left alive. That title meant I had to keep going. The legacy Gojo left us, the memories I built with Megumi and Nobara... those are what keep me moving. I exorcised everything I came across — any grade, any number. I just exorcised.
My abilities improved significantly, especially Blood Manipulation, though I still prefer other techniques. I mainly use Blood Manipulation for self-strengthening and cursed energy control. My power is on par with — maybe beyond — Satoru Gojo's. Physical capabilities, unmatched. Reversed Cursed Technique, nearly perfect. As long as I can breathe, I can heal.
Domain Expansion: near-perfect execution and control.
By now, only some Special Grade curses force me to use even a fraction of my full strength — but never everything.
I didn't even need to recognise or stop my train of thought as a curse flickered into my peripheral vision. I side-punched it in the face, Dismantle activated — though it was unnecessary. The slash tore through a nearby building as the curse's upper half disintegrated from the sheer force of my punch.
Yuji: "Ahh, bro, maybe I should call it a night. It's already nearly midnight."
Walking through the quiet Tokyo streets, memories of my first mission with Megumi and Nobara flooded my mind. The emotions buried deep in my heart forced a single tear down my cheek.
No matter how much I deny it... I'm lonely.
I still have comrades in Jujutsu, but besides Tōdō, none truly understand me.
Ring. Ring. Ring.a
My nostalgia was interrupted by a phone call from the higher-ups — something I didn't expect at this hour. The new higher-ups have come a long way. They're not as corrupt or stubborn as the old ones. I made sure of that. I couldn't let Gojo or Yaga's sacrifices go to waste.
Now, things are handled differently. The higher-ups can't abuse their power like before. Every one of them has Heavenly Restrictions placed on them — a safeguard to ensure their decisions aren't selfish or politically motivated. I don't remember all the conditions, honestly, but it works. For once, our world runs better, and no one's complaining.
Assistant: "Yuji Itadori, the higher-ups have a special mission for you that they would like to propose personally."
A special mission, huh? So far, all of those have just been Grade 1 cases, maybe one or two Special Grades that can't even entertain me in a fight. Hopefully, this one's at least a challenge.
Yuji: "What kind of mission are we talking about? Another Special Grade curse? If so, just send me the location. I'll handle it."
Assistant: "No, it's a unique mission. The higher-ups believe it will help clear your mind — and benefit not just Jujutsu... but the whole world."
The whole world? That's strange. Most curses and sorcerers are concentrated in Japan. Even global-level missions only affect us indirectly.
Yuji: "The whole world, huh? You've got my attention. What time do you want me to come?"
Assistant: "Right now!"
His tone made me pause. Urgency from the higher-ups, for me of all people? I won't brag, but I'm kind of the strongest jujutsu sorcerer alive right now. If they're calling me personally, it must be serious.
Yuji: "I guess it can't wait until morning, huh? Fine. Tell them I'll be there in thirty minutes."
Assistant: "Thank you for understanding, Yuji-san! They'll be waiting for you!"
Beep.
"Let's see what they've got this time..."
Thirty Minutes Later
Finally, I arrived at the higher-ups' headquarters — the same old place, though now modernised. The new administration has been working hard to make it different, cleaner... more honest.
As I walked up the stairs, I couldn't help but think, What the hell is going on? But I was about to find out.
I entered the meeting hall. Under the dim lights, ten higher-ups sat around a huge round table in their formal attire. They didn't seem happy to be here this late, but their postures made it clear — this discussion would be serious.
POV: Third Person
Yuji stood in front of the closing doors, his figure outlined by the faint light. The room felt heavy despite the calm tone of the higher-ups. The poor assistant who had called him earlier was visibly sweating, along with a few of the weaker officials. Their hearts raced, muscles tensed — just from the presence of the strongest sorcerer alive.
The boy who defeated Sukuna — and lived to tell the tale.
Yuji could feel their fear, but he didn't care. Why should he? They weren't friends, and they definitely couldn't control him. He released just enough pressure to remind them of that fact.
(A/N: I'm tired of saying "higher-ups," so from now on, I'll use "HU.")
HU1: "Good night, Yuji-kun. We appreciate you coming on such short notice. I think none of us wants to drag this out, so let's get to the matter at hand."
Yuji: "Reading my thoughts."
Yuji's thoughts: Strange... I see everyone here — ten HU members and the assistants — but I can sense one more presence. Not human, not a sorcerer... something lighter. Warm, even. Like soft light. Not even RCT feels like this. Maybe that's why they called me here.
HU2: "As you've probably noticed, there's one more person here. But before we introduce her, we need to share some history — something you've never been told."
HU3: "You already know what Cursed Energy is, what it does, and the long war between curses and humanity."
HU4: "But there's a missing piece of that history, long kept secret. It was once considered irrelevant, but recent events have changed that completely."
HU5: "As you know, curses are born from negative emotions and fears. It usually takes the collective emotions of a group of people for a strong curse to manifest. But when a single human loses complete control of their emotions... they become something else — a demon."
Yuji: "Demons? Seriously? If that's true, why haven't I seen even one after all this time fighting curses?"
HU1: "We're getting there. Humans don't just turn into demons because of one emotion. A demon king must influence them — feeding on despair, anger, or sorrow. When a human breaks completely, the demon king offers them a deal they can't refuse: power, wealth, or anything their emotions crave. In return, they surrender their soul — and become a demon under the king's control. Regret usually seals the bond."
HU2: "Now, in terms of strength, demon kings range between Grade 1 and Special Grade — depending on the number of souls harvested, the strength of their army, and their generals. If one came to Japan, jujutsu sorcerers could easily destroy them. Sorcerers can't be turned into demons either — our constant use of Cursed Energy purges most negative emotions. It's not impossible, but the cost for a demon king to convert even one sorcerer would be too high."
Yuji: "So, you want me to kill some demon king stupid enough to step into Japan?"
HU3: "Not exactly. Let us finish. Just as there are demons, there are humans who hunt them — demon hunters. Each country has its own, and they work differently from jujutsu sorcerers. Demon hunters use positive energy — the energy of human souls — to destroy demons."
HU4: "The main organisation, currently based in South Korea, uses the collective positive power of human souls to maintain something called Honmoon. It's a barrier surrounding the entire world — it blocks demons from entering and limits the influence of the demon kings."
HU5: "This Honmoon doesn't just protect the world. It also empowers the hunters, giving them weapons infused with positive energy. The hunters gather that energy through many means, but the most powerful comes from music. The current generation of main demon hunters — the ones maintaining the Honmoon — is a K-pop idol group called Huntrix."
Yuji: "Wait, wait, wait! You're telling me a K-pop idol group collects positive energy from human souls to maintain some world barrier? Do people even feel that? And what does this have to do with me?"
HU5: "That's what we want to explain next. We'd like to introduce you to one of the main hunters from the previous generation — the mentor of the current one and the official guardian of their leader."
HU6: "Miss Celine! I believe it's time."
