Chapter 37 - Singing high

The reason the Sea Kings hadn't attacked rashly before was that it sensed a certain threat from the people on the ship, and at that time, there were many people and animals on board. Now that Luo Yan had come out alone, even though he was the biggest threat, he was also the one it craved, so it no longer held back.

A water column emerged from the sea without warning, blocking Luo Yan's path. Luo Yan stopped with the momentum, turning to face the Sea Kings.

Screech!

With another cry, the Sea Kings' ferocity intensified, and it opened its massive beak, attempting to swallow Luo Yan whole.

At that instant, a fierce wind roared, and Luo Yan drifted in the wind like a leaf, dodging the fatal bite.

"Potter!"

"Caw!"

Luo Yan roared, and Potter let out an instinctive bird cry. Golden light burst from its body, and visible golden ripples spread out, showering Luo Yan's skin with brilliance.

"Hmph!"

Luo Yan let out a roar, and at the same time, lightning reflected in his eyes. Several arm-thick bolts of thunder struck the Sea Kings' head, instantly charring the smooth fur on its crown.

Screech!

The Sea Kings let out a painful cry, and its massive sea snake body began to thrash, stirring the seawater and creating huge waves. Some waves even exceeded ten meters in height; if they hit the coast, they would certainly be called a "disaster."

Luo Yan dodged the constantly incoming waves while continuously attacking the Sea Kings with lightning and wind blades.

Almost all attacks hit the enormous target, but because the target was so vast, these attacks were not enough to cause fatal damage.

"No, if this continues, I'll be the one to be exhausted to death! I must find a way."

Luo Yan's sense of crisis grew stronger. If they continued this stalemate, the final outcome would be him collapsing from exhaustion and falling into the water, to be swallowed by the Sea Kings. And even if he tried to escape, the Sea Kings could pursue him indefinitely.

"If you've got the guts, come catch me!"

Luo Yan steeled his heart, deciding to take a gamble. He used the wind to fly rapidly, and the Sea Kings, seeing this, immediately moved its massive body to follow behind.

Luo Yan expended his spirituality and stamina on escaping, not because he genuinely wanted to flee, but because he hoped to find an island to land on. Fighting the Sea Kings in the sea was simply too unwise. If he could lure the Sea Kings ashore, he might have a chance.

Based on this idea, Luo Yan made this decision.

After only a few minutes of flying, Luo Yan spotted a small island. The island had sparse vegetation, with most areas exposing black rocks. There were hardly any animals visible, only a few seabirds occasionally landing.

After landing, Luo Yan quickly ran towards the center of the island. The Sea Kings pursued to the shore but did not follow onto the island; instead, it completely submerged itself.

A brief calm appeared on the sea surface, followed by the entire island beginning to shake, as if a sudden earthquake had occurred.

"Damn it! That guy isn't going to ram the island from underwater, is he?"

Luo Yan couldn't help but curse. He didn't expect the Sea Kings not to come ashore, but he wasn't anxious either. Although the island wasn't large, it wasn't small, and the underwater part would definitely be larger than the above-water part. While the Sea Kings was enormous, it wouldn't be easy for it to smash the island. Instead, he could rest on the island first; since he could fly, if the island sank, he could just find another one.

After figuring this out, Luo Yan simply found a crooked-necked tree, leaned against it, and sat down to rest.

Just as Luo Yan was wondering if he could close his eyes for a moment, his spirituality was suddenly touched. He looked up and saw a black dot in the sky. With his eyesight, he could clearly see that the black dot was Xia Tali.

"Why is she here? Is that...?"

Luo Yan stood up abruptly, squinting to see. He noticed that Xia Tali was carrying a silver briefcase, clearly taken from his room.

"This guy..."

Luo Yan felt a mix of helplessness and move. That Xia Tali would brave danger to bring him something in this situation was truly unexpected.

Xia Tali's flying speed was also not slow, and she soon landed in front of Luo Yan. She was a little breathless, but seeing Luo Yan was fine, she noticeably breathed a sigh of relief.

"Captain, are you alright?"

"I'm fine. Why are you here? Where's the ship?"

"Captain, don't worry, Mite has already sailed the ship far away. In the rush, you didn't bring any magical items. I don't know which magical items you usually use, so I brought the box where you store them."

As she spoke, Xia Tali handed the briefcase to Luo Yan. Luo Yan nodded, took the box, and quickly opened it. Upon seeing the contents, his eyes immediately lit up.

"Excellent! You take this, and take Potter to hide far away. Then, the real battle begins."

Luo Yan took an eyeball-shaped orb from the box and handed it to Xia Tali, then placed Potter, who was on his shoulder, into Xia Tali's arms.

Xia Tali remembered this item. When she was just rescued, Luo Yan had used this orb for illumination.

"Captain, you... be careful."

Xia Tali took out a few more potions and handed them to Luo Yan, then no longer hesitated. She took Potter and flew up again, but she didn't go too far, just flying higher to ensure she wouldn't be reached by the Sea Kings.

"Potter, what did you do? Why won't Captain let you stay by his side?"

After confirming that her height was temporarily safe from threat, Xia Tali immediately questioned Potter. Potter at this moment felt both a little wronged and a little relieved.

"I don't know either. I've been blessing the Captain all this time; I haven't been lazy."

"Hmph!"

Xia Tali didn't believe Potter's explanation, but she also knew that now was not the time to dwell on such matters. She just snorted coldly and said nothing more.

After Luo Yan found the magical items he needed from the box, he placed a strand of his hair into the box and tucked the box into a crevice in the rocks to hide it.

"Then, let me show you what an Ocean Singer is!"

Luo Yan rose with the wind, but he didn't fly very high, only two or three meters off the ground, and then began to sing loudly.

This time, the song was no longer pleasant; almost every word was off-key and mixed with a metallic texture.

Visible ripples spread from Luo Yan's body, and the seawater resonated, transmitting the sound into the deep sea. All kinds of fish in the sea became violent at this moment, beginning to attack each other.

"Screech!"

The Sea Kings suddenly burst out of the sea, exuding a violent aura all over its body. Waves began to crash against the island's shore, one higher than the last, like a premonition of disaster.

Xia Tali in the air heard the maddening sound and almost fell directly from the sky. Fortunately, the eyeball-like orb in her hand immediately emitted a dim yellow light that enveloped her. The hypnotist's soothing allowed her to resist the madness, but this could not block her hearing.
