Chapter 46 - Come be my son

Although he was certain the other party wouldn't act easily, Luo Yan still didn't dare to be rude and bowed slightly to Whitebeard.

Whitebeard sat up a little, his lips curving upwards into a crescent moon, revealing his signature smile.

"I've read Ace's letter. Thank you for delivering it. He said in the letter that you want my help?"

Whitebeard didn't make small talk and got straight to the point. Luo Yan immediately nodded. Since the other party was so direct, he didn't plan to beat around the bush either.

"I need an earthquake and a Tsunami. It's not about destroying anyone, but I need to do some things during the earthquake and Tsunami, so I'd like to ask for your help."

"Earthquake? Kurararara! That's simple, for me it's just a matter of throwing a punch. But as you can see, my physical condition isn't good. Helping you would be a considerable burden on me. So, what compensation can you offer for this burden?"

When Whitebeard said this, the Whitebeard Pirates's officers standing on both sides all grinned, as if they had discussed it beforehand, or had received a certain command.

Luo Yan had long anticipated this. He remained calm and was about to state his bargaining chip when he heard Whitebeard laugh again.

"Kurararara! Kid, be my son."

Luo Yan couldn't help but twitch his mouth. He had expected Whitebeard to pull something like this, but he hadn't expected it to be so soon, so direct.

Xia Tali, on the other hand, was even more stunned. She had thought Luo Yan's words earlier were mostly a joke, but she didn't expect them to come true so quickly.

Of course, Luo Yan couldn't become Whitebeard's son, so he shook his head without hesitation and refused:

"No, I refuse. I am an Adventurer, I don't want to be a Pirate."

These words seemed to flip a switch. Whitebeard, who had been all smiles, immediately darkened his expression. He suddenly stood up, drew murakumogiri from his side, and held it up with one hand, spinning it rapidly in his palm like a propeller. The propeller-like rotation whipped up strong winds, making some of the henchmen present unable to open their eyes.

Xia Tali's face changed drastically, her body slightly bent, her recently retracted wings spread out again, and her crimson eyes glowed with a hint of red light, as if she would rush out at any moment.

Luo Yan reached out to block Xia Tali, and with his other hand, he pressed down in front of him, and the strong winds suddenly stopped.

Whitebeard narrowed his eyes, then suddenly gripped murakumogiri tightly and thrust it into the ground. A visible wave of air spread out, but this circular expanding wave of air actively bypassed Luo Yan and Xia Tali, not even stirring the corners of their clothes.

Whitebeard's grim face gradually recovered, and he once again drew out his crescent-moon-like smile.

"Kurararara, you've got some skills, huh? Are you really not going to be my son?"

"I'm really not. Besides, I don't think even if I agreed to be your son, it would be of much benefit to you personally. I've brought something you'd want more, for example, to help you live longer and be in better condition."

These words immediately caused a stir on the ship. Let alone the small fry, even the officers could no longer remain calm and began to whisper among themselves.

As members of the Whitebeard Pirates, they all knew that Whitebeard's physical condition was getting worse and worse, often requiring intravenous drips for relief, and he probably didn't have many years left to live. Now, a young man who appeared out of nowhere, seemingly under twenty, claimed he could make Whitebeard live longer and improve his condition. Naturally, these people didn't quite believe it.

Whitebeard's smile gradually receded, his expression became serious, and he appeared even more majestic.

"I think you know what you're saying. I'm very clear about my physical condition; it's not something an ordinary doctor can solve."

Luo Yan didn't answer Whitebeard but turned to look at Xia Tali. Xia Tali very cooperatively stepped forward to stand beside Luo Yan. She looked up and met Whitebeard's gaze without fear, but then she became somewhat hesitant.

"Captain, he is riddled with injuries and illnesses, plus his old age. Even if I cure him, he can only live for twenty more years at most."

"Twenty years? Are you serious?"

The first to ask wasn't Whitebeard himself, but Marco the Phoenix, who had been standing not far from Whitebeard. He was the First Division Commander, Whitebeard's closest confidant, and also half of the ship's doctor. He was absolutely the clearest about Whitebeard's condition, and even he thought Whitebeard didn't have many years left. Yet, a young girl who looked under twenty years old, casually said twenty years. How could he not be suspicious?

Xia Tali lifted her chin, her lips slightly curved, looking at Marco with a somewhat arrogant posture.

"I am very confident in my potions. If you don't believe me, you can find someone to test it."

Saying this, Xia Tali took out a tube of pink healing potion and continued, "This is a healing potion. A wounded person can try it. If there's no wounded person, you can also make a cut yourself and then drink the potion."

A small henchman voluntarily stepped forward to take the potion, but Marco was a step faster than him, coming before Xia Tali and taking the potion in his hand.

"I'll do it."

Saying this, he unhesitatingly used a small knife to cut a wound more than ten centimeters long on his arm. Blood immediately gushed out. Luo Yan so badly wanted to catch that blood, but there were too many people here, and he really didn't know how to explain it, so he forced himself to hold back.

The others weren't too worried about Marco. They all knew Marco's ability. Even if the potion didn't work, Marco could quickly heal the wound with his own ability, so there wouldn't be any problems.

Marco didn't hesitate and tilted his head back, drinking the healing potion.

As the cool liquid flowed down his throat, he immediately felt the pain in his arm disappear. He looked down and saw that the wound was healing at a visible rate. In just a few seconds, the cut, more than ten centimeters long, had already healed. If it weren't for the blood around the wound that was still wet, he would even suspect that the injury just now was merely an illusion.

"This! How is this possible! How can there be such a potion?"

Marco's Phoenix flames could also make wounds heal quickly, but when used to treat others, it was definitely not this fast. The most important thing was that this was a potion, completely unrelated to Devil Fruit abilities, which greatly expanded the scope of manipulation.

Seeing the guy who questioned her so stunned, Xia Tali immediately showed a satisfied smile, her chin raised a little higher.

"How about it? Do you believe now that I can cure Whitebeard?"

Marco opened his mouth but didn't answer directly. Instead, he turned to look at Whitebeard.

"Old Man, her potion is indeed miraculous, perhaps..."

Before Marco could finish speaking, Whitebeard waved his hand to interrupt him, then he laughed again.

"Kurararara, little girl, is he your Captain?"

Xia Tali was stunned for a moment, not understanding what Whitebeard meant, but she still nodded in response.

"Yes."
