The blast was so loud it felt like it would tear every listener's eardrums.
On screen, the place where VenomMyotismon floated vanished inside a blinding sphere of light.
Flame burned, thunder roared, the hammer's gust and energy cannons braided together into a catastrophic elemental storm.
All of Odaiba shuddered under the aftershock.

Takato swallowed hard, eyes locked on the glare.
"Did it work, Guilmon?"
"I feel… that bad guy's presence hasn't gone away," Guilmon sniffed, unease on his face.
Rika stuffed both hands in her pockets and snorted. "Don't celebrate early. If a Mega went down that easily, it'd be cheap."
Renamon's eyes were razor-sharp. "She's right. The fight isn't over."
Henry kept his cool. "Angewomon's holy power definitely weakened its defenses and opened the window for the all-out strike—tactically sound. The problem is… its vitality may exceed everyone's imagination."
Ryo leaned on the wall with the faintest smile. "Here we go. Now the show really starts."
[On-screen]
The light thinned.
Smoke billowed.
The attacks had connected.
The mountain-sized body of VenomMyotismon was riddled with holes, tattered wings hanging in shreds, the hard shell crazed with cracks.
It stood motionless—as if life had left it.
"Did we… do it?" Mimi whispered.
"We did it!" Sora's face lit with relief.
But Tai and Matt stayed tense.
"No!" Tai barked. "Everyone, look out!"
Before the words finished—
CRACK!
A clear fracture snapped—not from one place, but from everywhere on VenomMyotismon's body at once.
Crack, crack-crack!
A spiderweb of fissures raced across the giant frame—
—and then, before their horrified eyes, that vast body… crumbled.
Like a hollow plaster statue struck by a hammer, massive chunks rained down, smashing apart into black data dust.
Within seconds, the whole colossus collapsed into nothing.
No cheers rose.
Because at the "abdomen" where that giant had been, something floated in midair.
Only the size of a human torso, a pale, twisted creature.
Tiny batlike wings jutted from its back.
On its face, the same wicked, manic smile as VenomMyotismon's.
That—was the true body.

"Holy—!" Nokia yelped, finger trembling at the screen. "We pounded a shell?!"
Arata went white as the readings on his monitor spiked beyond the earlier peak. His voice pitched up. "The energy signature didn't drop—it condensed! The big body was an aggregate—just a shell! That small core is the real body!"
Kyoko set her cup down, eyes the coldest they'd been. "Shed the shell? No… more like retracting all power into the true core. Now we're in trouble."
She stared at the tiny body, murmuring, "Concentrated essence is the deadliest."
[On-screen]
The pale, twisted core shrieked laughter.
"Ahahahahaha! Nice fireworks, insects! You've succeeded in… making me angry!"
Its eyes flashed blood-red.
A visible pulse of ink-black energy erupted from that small frame.
"Die!"
"—Venom Infusion!!"
It wasn't a beam or a ball.
It was a ring—a destructive wave of darkness.
From the core, an all-direction, indiscriminate surge exploded outward.
Too fast. Too broad. No way to dodge.
"Defense, now!" Tai shouted.
Too late.
WHOOOM—!!!
Darkness swept the field.
First to be hit were WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon—spent from their last barrage.
They barely raised a guard before the wave smashed them, their huge frames cut loose like kites, hurled into distant rubble in towers of dust.
Then Garudamon, Zudomon, Lillymon, MegaKabuterimon, Angewomon, Angemon—
The instant the wave touched them, their light dimmed; their forms could no longer hold.
Pop! Pop! Pop!
De-evolution flares chained across the battlefield.
Majestic Megas and Ultimates dropped back to their first forms.
Biyomon collapsed, a wing reaching weakly toward Sora. "Sora…"
Tentomon fell back as Motimon with a flop.
Palmon slipped to Tanemon and fainted.
Gomamon reverted to Bukamon, barely breathing.
Angemon rolled all the way down to Tokomon by T.K.'s feet.
Only Gatomon still clung to Rookie—but even she had burned out every scrap of holy power, shrinking to Salamon and sinking at Kari's feet, ears drooped, unable to stand.
One strike.
Just one.
Eight powerful Digimon—down.
Silence swallowed the field.
Only the little Demon Lord laughed, wild and free, above.

"How…" Davis dropped to the floor, soccer ball thudding away. "Veemon… they all…"
Veemon stared, speechless.
Ken trembled—not with fear, but fury. "So… strong. It's not even the same order of power…"
Wormmon hid behind him, sniffling. "Scary… so scary…"
Even BlackWarGreymon, once the proud rival, looked shaken.
"This is pure darkness. No impurities—power existing only to destroy."
High above, Azulongmon's four eyes burned grim. "The crisis of prophecy… has arrived."

"Tai!" Agumon (2020) cried at the screen. "The us of that world are in danger!"
Tai (2020) clenched his jaw. "Damn it! That monster hid its strength this deep!"
T.K. watched Angemon drop, heart wrenched. "Angemon!"
Beside him, Angewomon (2020) frowned. She could feel it—that strike's darkness countered her holiness absolutely. "So strong an evil force… we alone may not…"
Mimi (2020) was near tears. "What do we do? Everyone's down! How do we even fight?!"

Despair.
Total and perfect, like a fog that wouldn't lift, pressing on every heart.
"It's over…" Izzy's hands went limp. His laptop slid from his knees and hit the ground.
"How could… this happen…" Joe dropped to his knees, all fight gone.
VenomMyotismon's core savored their faces, sighing in bliss.
"Yes… this face. Taste hope—then plunge into despair. Finest cuisine!"
It spread its arms, readying the final blow to bury these pests—and this world—with them.
At that moment—

A strange resonance sounded from the eight kids.
Tai's Crest of Courage at his belt—
Matt's Crest of Friendship at his throat—
Sora's Crest of Love on her chest—
Izzy's Crest of Knowledge on his bag strap—
Mimi's Crest of Sincerity on her satchel—
Joe's Crest of Reliability in his pocket—

All eight legendary Crests burst, at once, into a blinding, golden radiance.
The glow resonated violently with their Digivices—

Eight golden chains of light shot from the Digivices—not at the enemy but skyward, weaving, spiraling, wrapping around VenomMyotismon's core.
"What is this?!"
The Demon Lord found it couldn't move.
Those chains, alive with will, banded tighter and tighter, layer on layer, forging a golden prison of light that pinned the core in midair.
"Damn it—release me! What is this garbage!"
It writhed, spraying dark power—but the chains held fast, drawing tighter the more it struggled.

Mikey sprang up, eyes blazing. "It's the Crests and Digivices! They're answering the kids' refusal to give up!"
"YEAH, MIKEY! That's the power of bonds! Hot-blooded!" Shoutmon howled.
Angie and Jeremy were slack-jawed. "It's… it's a miracle."

"It's the Crests!" Tai (original) touched his own. "At the last moment… our will, through the Crests and Digivices, bound it!"
Matt's cold gaze finally warmed. "So that's it… we are the final key."
Gennai stroked his beard, smiling with pride. "Exactly. Digivolution needs the children's hearts. When the Digimon fall, those same hearts can bind the darkness. That is what being Chosen truly means."
In a shadowed corner, Myotismon watched his Mega be chained. His face turned storm-black.
"Hateful! Again with this sentimental power! Utterly dull!"
DemiDevimon quaked beside him. "P-please calm down, Master…"

A chance.
The chance.
Everyone knew.
Tai and Matt met eyes—no words needed.
"Now!"
Tai shouted with everything left in him toward the two titans struggling back to their feet amid the ruins.
"WarGreymon!"
From the rubble, WarGreymon roared to the heavens. He raised both arms high—every scrap of remaining energy pooling into his palms.
Air compressed. Power condensed.
A massive sun-hot sphere formed between his hands—
"Terra Force!"
At the same time—
From another ruin, MetalGarurumon howled. His metal jaws yawned wide; panels all over his body irised open—
But no missiles fired.
He converted everything into a single, absolute cold front—
A breath that could freeze atomic motion itself.
"Metal Wolf Claw!"
Red and blue. Fire and ice.
Two ultimate forces launched at the same instant from opposite sides, slamming with perfect precision into the tiny Demon Lord lashed by golden chains.
"NO—!"
VenomMyotismon screamed, terror spiking at last.
The twin cataclysms swelled in its eyes—
KR-RAAASH!!!
Absolute flame and absolute frost collided and annihilated within the tight cage of light.
The alternating heat and cold detonated in a terror burst—
A scream too inhuman for any creature ripped the sky—then cut off.
The glare faded.
Nothing remained in the air.
Not the core. Not the chains.
All of it was unmade—reduced to base data motes that drifted away on the breeze.
The choking fog blanketing Odaiba at last began to thin.
After so long, sunlight broke the clouds and poured over the scarred ground.

The battle… was over.
Viewers everywhere let out one long breath.
But in that special gallery—
Myotismon, once a dark overlord, stared at the screen.
He watched his Mega—his final ambition and power—fade to nothing.
His body shook.
Not with fear.
With rage.

"Feelings… bonds… hope… light…"
He forced each hated word through his teeth.
"Again… again with these pathetic things!"
"AAAAAAAH!"
He shot to his feet and smashed a fist into the empty air—dark power rippled out.
"Why! Why would I be beaten by that!"
His scarlet eyes burned with madness and refusal.
"I won't accept it! Never!"
