Amelia looked at Kairo, confusion tightening in her chest.
"How did I get here?" she asked quietly.
Kairo met her gaze. "I found you at the scene of an accident" he replied evenly. "You were unconscious. I brought you here. You've been asleep for twelve hours."
Her breath caught.
"An accident?" Panic flickered across her face.
She stepped closer, hands trembling as she lifted them to show a height. "Did you see a little girl? About this tall. Blonde hair. Blue eyes. She was with me."
Kairo shook his head. "I didn't see anyone else."
The color drained from her face.
"No…" she whispered.
She bit down on her finger, her thoughts spiraling. Irelia shouldn't have followed me. This is my fault. All of it.
Her hands slid into her hair as she paced. "I never should've let her come with me…"
"Amelia" Kairo said, concern edging into his voice.
She stopped abruptly and turned to him. "Your phone" she said. "Please."
He handed it to her without hesitation.
