The statement hit Hailey like a slap. She stared at him, trying to understand how the conversation had taken this turn.
"What are you talking about?" Hailey asked, genuinely bewildered.
"You think I don't know?" Eric continued, his voice rising. "Your next movie, you're going to play it with him."
He started pacing now, his movements sharp and agitated.
"With who?" Hailey asked, still confused.
"Noah!" Eric spat out the name like a curse.
"You're insane," Hailey said, shaking her head.
"Oh, so that's why this morning, he stuck his nose in," Eric said, his voice becoming more dangerous. "He was protecting his investment, right?"
"Eric, you're not making sense," Hailey said, trying to stay calm.
"And last night," Eric continued, his voice climbing, "when you didn't come home, you were sleeping with him, right?"
The accusation was so outrageous that Hailey felt her own anger flaring.
"Eric!" Hailey shouted, her voice filled with shock and indignation. "Are you insane?"
