He turned back to Donald, his expression serious.

"If Hailey calls," Walter said, "let me know right away. Immediately. Understood?"

"Okay, got it," Donald replied, clearly picking up on the gravity of the situation.

Walter left as quickly as he'd entered. The door swung shut with a soft thud.

The makeup room fell into uncomfortable silence. The earlier excitement had completely evaporated.

Donald noticed Noah's worried expression. His hands had clenched into fists on the armrests.

"Are you alright?" Donald asked gently, though it was obvious Noah wasn't.

Noah nodded stiffly, but his eyes remained on the door.

"Something is wrong," Noah said quietly. "Hailey would never miss this."

"Maybe she's just running late," Donald suggested hopefully.

"No," Noah said, shaking his head. "Not Hailey. Not today. Something happened."

His instincts were screaming that something was very wrong.
