Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Commission

After a fourteen-hour flight, the plane finally landed at Haneda Airport.

For a long-haul flight like this, flying economy is pure torture. The cramped seats make sitting for fourteen hours unbearable.

But first-class tickets are outrageously expensive. Most people wouldn't be willing to spend that much.

Toru, however, had an excellent physique, and as a professional, he had trained himself to fall asleep quickly.

After enjoying a hearty dinner on the plane and getting some rest, he arrived still full of energy.

He had boarded at 1 PM England time and landed at 11 AM Japan time.

Since he had eaten during the flight and also snacked a bit, he wasn't hungry. He could skip lunch and eat directly at dinner, adjusting his body clock to the new time zone at the same time.

Wearing sunglasses and carrying a file bag, Toru passed through immigration and entered the airport.

Because he flew first class, he was one of the first to disembark, and thus didn't run into the girl named Chihaya Anon again.

Thinking back on the flight, Toru finally remembered who Chihaya Anon was.

She was one of the main characters in the anime MyGO!!!. But after living in this world for twenty years, he had almost completely forgotten about a character from a show he'd only watched once.

That was why he didn't recognize her immediately.

Only with something nationally iconic like Detective Conan did Toru remember details a bit more clearly.

"Since she's also an anime character, if I 'conquer' her, will I get high-level skill points too?"

Toru muttered to himself. As for whether it would work, he'd know once he tried.

Of course, Toru didn't plan on being too forward or simping. He had plenty of targets and wasn't in a rush. One step at a time.

He pulled out his phone and quickly checked his messages. One caught his eye.

[Mr. Fujiwara, please reply after you deplane. I have the contract ready. —From Eri Kisaki]

Toru thought for a moment, then typed a reply:

[Ms. Kisaki, I just deplaned and am passing through immigration. If Tokyo traffic isn't bad, I should arrive before 1 PM. Would you like to have lunch together?]

Not long after, Eri Kisaki responded.

[Thank you for the kind invitation, Mr. Fujiwara. I already grabbed a quick bowl of ramen for lunch. Next time, please let me treat you.]

It was a polite refusal, subtle but clear.

Toru immediately dropped the idea of pressing further. With mature women like her, persistence would only backfire and make them avoid you.

[Then I won't be shy. I'll let you treat me next time, Ms. Kisaki.]

[For a major client like Mr. Fujiwara, of course I won't hold back. Feel free to pick the place.]

Even without seeing her, Toru could picture Eri Kisaki's elegant and confident demeanor.

He chuckled. Then he opened another message, memorized a number, and put his phone away.

Carrying the file bag, he made his way to the airport lockers. Toru found the correct locker and entered the code from memory.

With a soft click, the locker opened. Inside was a Porsche key and a heavy briefcase.

He took both, then, like any ordinary traveler, headed toward the underground parking lot.

Soon, he found the vehicle parked in a corner.

It wasn't a Porsche sports car, nor was it the advanced tech vehicle he had earned as a system reward back in America. That one hadn't been shipped over yet.

This was a modified Panamera, fully equipped and relatively "low-key" in comparison.

He instinctively did a quick check around the vehicle, making sure there were no bombs or bugs, then finally got into the driver's seat.

He opened the briefcase. Inside was a brand-new M9 pistol, the one he was most familiar with, along with multiple magazines, a suppressor, and other standard gear.

Naturally, he couldn't bring firearms into Japan from America, but the CIA's Japan branch had already prepared everything for him.

Just like the car, these were provided by the agency. As for how they were accounted for, that was the accountants' problem.

He checked the pistol, confirmed it was in working order, and holstered it. With it on his body, he instantly felt much more secure.

After all, as a human, at least in this world, he still couldn't stop bullets. Hand-to-hand combat was useful, but outside of seven steps, a gun was faster. Inside seven steps, it was still both fast and accurate.

Traffic congestion was standard in any international metropolis. Tokyo was no exception.

After getting stuck in traffic for a while, Toru arrived at his destination right on schedule, just before 1 PM.

His destination was the Former Furukawa Gardens, near Nishigahara Station in Tokyo's North District.
