Chapter 18 - Failed mission

Alfred's POV

I murmured as I stared at the table clock again.

"Where the heck is this good for nothing, servant?" I yelled when a knock came through the door.

"Come in!" I yelled out in frustration.

My door creaked open as a scent of dry wood and red rose filled my nostrils. I dimmed my eyes to see who it was, but the room had gotten so dark. I could only see a red dress.

"Who are you?" I asked in a calm voice.

"I'm Mira from the barn."

"Come closer." I instructed her.

I heard footsteps walking close to me and a presence before me. I grabbed her waist and placed her on the bed. She was the first Omega that I was so gentle with; that was strange, but it didn't matter right now as I made love to her.

She was still beneath me when I heard a knock on the door. It was Iza's voice.

"Damn!" I yelled out in frustration.

"Is that Luna?" She asked in fear.

"Yes, and that's not a reason to panic; just fix yourself somewhere, and I'll dismiss her. That Roman guard is so incompetent. Why would he leave his post?"

I wasn't done talking when another knock came through the door.

"Don't push down my door," I said as I opened the door, buckling my belt. "It's not like we're sharing a room."

"What took you so long?" She asked as she pushed me aside and walked in with her eyes scrolling around.

"Iza, why are you here?"

"Is there a problem? I thought of spending the night with the man I love; is that a crime?"

"You beg for your privacy? Or you've got something, or rather, someone you're giving my time to?" She spat.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." I lied.

"Alfred, don't forget, I helped you become the man you are today," she said.

"Oh please! Spare me that crab and stop giving yourself credit that belongs to someone else! Now leave; I'm not ready for your nagging tonight."

"I'm sorry if I made you upset, but..."

"Leave! Iza, your Alpha requests that you leave this instant. It's high time you remember that I'm not just your partner but Alpha. We aren't even mated yet, and you won't let me breathe," I said, not minding her emotions.

She ran out of the room without saying a word to me, and I was grateful for that.

"You can come out now; she's gone." I told the Omega.

She crawled out of her hiding place; this time I was able to see her face with the help of the moonlight, but not clearly. I observed her for a while; her face looked familiar, so familiar, but I couldn't remember where I met her.

"I've lost my mood. Leave!" I yelled calmly.

"But that wasn't the agreement." She stuttered.

"And who are you to tell me what to do? A weak and worthless Omega! You should be grateful you had contact with me; that should be your biggest testimony. Now get out before I throw you into the dungeon!" I yelled.

She grabbed her dress, which lay on the floor, and took her heels while I panted around the room in frustration and prepared to see the moon goddess.

Romans POV

I stood beside the entrance of the pack house when I saw someone running out in tense. I strained my eyes to see who it was as I recognized her scents and red dress.

"Are you okay?" I asked immediately.

"Ask me no such questions; you wasted my time and efforts. There's no good in this pack house; I prefer being an omega than a wolf." She yelled and ran out of my presence.

"Please hold on." I begged, chasing her.

"Leave me alone. Or you'll get me into trouble if anyone sees us together."

"I apologize for whatever happened there, but I hope he didn't do anything drastic to you." I asked with so much concern.

"What's more horrible than laying with me and chasing me out of the room without payment? I beg to rest. Goodnight."

I let out a sigh as I watched her run until she was out of sight.

"Does he have to be selfish and heartless towards everyone?" I thought.

I heard footsteps approaching as I ran back to my post. I saw him walk past me, but he didn't seem to see me.

He walked so hurriedly and suspiciously as he took out one of the strongest species of horses from the stable, and it occurred to me that he was embarking on a long journey because he could easily transform into his wolf form without getting tired.

I darted my eyes around to see if anyone was watching. After making sure that the road was clear, I took out a brown horse and followed him.

The hair of the brown horse was so dark that he wouldn't notice someone was behind him.

We rode out of the pack and into the forest as I began to wonder where on earth he was going at this ungodly time. We were so far from any pack.

My horse strained her leg on a stone and made her groan in pain.

Alfred stopped hearing the voice of my horse as he pulled his reins in my direction.

"Shh!" I patted my horse on her back, stopping her from neighing, while my eyes were on Alfred, who was almost close.

"You seem disturbed." A voice from behind told him.

It was a feminine voice that sounded raspy and cracky, filled with a sinister tone. I was startled at first but maintained my position and tried to get a glimpse of who was speaking.

"I heard an unfamiliar noise." He said this and walked in the direction the voice was coming from.

"Isn't it what you're good at? Always hear unfamiliar noises."

"Her death has been confirmed; can we move onto the next step?"
