Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven

Elena's POV

Today was the day for the wedding. I can't help but reflect upon what my ex-boyfriend, Theo, told me about Ryan. I know that Theo is nothing but a scumbag but everything he claimed seems to be true. I don't have a choice either way.

I've done all I could to ruin this wedding, I didn't want a bridesmaid or anything. It's not a joyful day for me but one of so much pain.

"I'm so proud to see you get married, today." My Nonna said tears brimming in her eyes. "You're such a gem, never forget that."

"I won't, Nonna." I walked up to her in my beautiful and elegant white wedding dress then wrapped my arms around her.

She has been my source of comfort since after my Mom abandoned my Dad and I. "Thank you so much for being present throughout my life. Though I wished that you would see me marry someone I actually love."

She smiled and wiped the tears threatening to spill down my cheeks. "Don't cry, you're too beautiful to do that today. Give this a chance, I know that it isn't the fairytale that we hoped for you but this can be worked out, okay?"

My heart fell at the realization that I was stuck with this man, probably for the rest of my life. I barely acknowledged her words and held onto her once more.

A loud knock on the door tore us apart and we both stared at it. "Come in." I uttered after clearing my throat.

My father stepped into the room with the constant glare on his face I've gotten used to.

I deliberately didn't acknowledge his presence and just kept staring at him because I felt so betrayed.

"You know for once you've made me a bit proud. I thought you would attempt running away but you amaze me. Didn't even cause a ruckus, I'll wire some money into your private account after the wedding."

"I don't want your money, hold it. You've sold me out already, leave me be."

"Charles, you have to stop pushing it before you lose your daughter and never have her again. She's all you've got." Nonna mentioned from beside me.

He rolled his eyes as if I was just being dramatic. "I'll send it, if you know what's best for you, don't be dramatic at the wedding. I know your kind of person and have made it pretty small so don't shame me."

I said nothing but completely ignored him.

"I also overheard your conversation with that good for nothing, ex boyfriend of yours." My father accused me with a look of annoyance on his face.

My head whipped towards him in seconds with widened eyes. "How….how did you even know about it?"

He rolled his eyes at me. "You think I'm stupid? I hear every call you make because I was so certain that you would try running away."

"That's you infringing into my private life. It's so wrong Dad." I screamed at the top of my lungs.

"First off, young lady, you have no right to speak to me in such a manner. Secondly, you are a pretty gullible idiot that believes everything said to her."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It's easy to make you believe things even when they're not true."

"Everyone says that this man is dangerous but you, Dad. I'm not blind I've heard the stories and accusations. I've seen them on news blog posts since when you told me about him."

"He is good enough for you, you know. He'll keep you in check and not make you continue the same way you have under me."

"And what way is that?"

"Like some brat that doesn't face any consequences when she does something wrong."

"Dad! Why would you even say something like that?"

"I don't have the time for your nonsense. Now you're getting married, you need to stop entertaining some kinds of people. Was what he did to you in college not enough? Stay away from him, this will be the last time I'd warn you."

He gave me one last glance and walked out of the room, closing the door after him.

Tears filled my eyes and I fought them hard so that I wouldn't ruin my makeup.

The door is abruptly pushed open and Rosalyn stepped in with her pretty peach dress. She had a large smile on her lips until she saw my face and she furrowed her eyebrows.

"What's wrong, El?" She held my face in her arms and had a worried look on her face.

"I'm so overwhelmed, I can't believe this day is here. I'm scared shitless, there are so many uncertainties."

She pulled me in and rubbed my back gently as if I was fragile glass. "I'll be with you all the steps of the way, okay?"

"Thanks girl." I pulled her in for a tight hug.

"So everyone is sitting in the garden, we're all waiting for you." She smiled and gestured at the door.

"Okay, let's go." I walked to Nonna and kissed her cheek then walked out with Rosalyn in tow.

"There's so much happening, but I know that you'll get through this just fine." Rosalyn muttered beside me.

We soon got to the garden, everything was so beautiful. I intentionally made myself unavailable throughout the preparations because this was never my choice anyway.

My father appeared beside me and took my arm in his walking me to my "doom". I lifted my head and peered at Ryan already standing by the priest, he looked so handsome. Had a coffee brown suit on and his hair neatly combed backwards. If he wasn't so arrogant and rude, I would have found him more attractive.

"You're drooling already!" My conscience judged me.

I rolled my eyes as we approached him and soon the priest began to speak. "Anyone with any objections as to these two getting married should speak now or forever remain silent."

The

re was utter silence before a sharp feminine voice broke out in the crowd. "I object!"
