Chapter 9 - Bird Eyes

The workers are near,

I shall introduce you, dear reader.

There is no hierarchy here,

Just entities that aid my sanctuary, forever near.

.

See them? Bird men!

Tall and grim, eyes dim.

Half-men, half-bird,

they mend the human herd.

Black suits that skew the yard;

haunting souls that spy like mortals in a graveyard;

their motives scurred

intent as their piercing words.

.

Bird women?

the loyal protectors.

Tall, gracious, and beady-eyed,

Beaks that carry pride.

Long, dark dresses that graced the haunted

granting them wholeness in a world so daunted.

Half-woman, half-bird,

they heed the messages that humans blur.

.

Owl, my pet bird,

his wisdom's not from this world:

The bats revealed one's fears and doubts,

Careful, there's no coming out.

.

Mother Mary guided my soul and spirit alight,

I thanked her all right,

She was the light

immortality is now my sight.

.

I am the Queen;

the ruler ---

no testimony is truer.

This is not a myth;

you are watched, living or adrift.
