Those words cut into Summer so sharply. Her chest ached so fiercely it felt like something inside her was tearing.
'You think I'm running around with men?' she whispered inwardly, her throat tightening. 'After all the years I spent loving you? Why is it so easy for you to believe the worst about me?'
The heartbreak she had fought so hard to bury shimmered in her eyes. She didn't want him to see it, but she couldn't stop it either.
"This is what you think about me," she said, letting out a broken laugh.
What else could she expect from a man who had branded her a cheater, who refused to acknowledge his own child?
She was hurt, of course, but it was no longer surprising to her.
"I can choose anyone in this world… anyone but you. Now move. My friend is waiting."
She tried to wrench herself free, twisting under his grip, but her resistance only fueled his rage.
"I can end your friend with a snap of my fingers," he threatened. "And that new pretty boy? I can crush him, too."
