Chapter 16 - The Second Wish (Chap 15)

Synopsis: Hou & Garga suddenly disappeared, much to everyone's shock and Alexandre's amusement. Meanwhile, the two buddies set out to seek their wish...What will they achieve by doing so?

It's school day as usual in World Buddy Academia. The teachers are teaching their students, while the younglings are taking notes as they listen to the lecture. Everyone is completely focused on their books and stationery on their tables. The environment is like a university lecture hall. Soon enough, the bell rings.

Teacher: Alright. Before you all leave, please let me take your attendance. Daryl Hoshino?

Daryl: Present.

Teacher: Masato Rikuo.

Masato: Present.

Teacher: Alexandre Ankh.

Alexandre Ankh: Present.

Teacher: Teng Hou Ren.

But Hou did not respond as his seat is empty.

Teacher: Oh, right. He took a 7-day leave. The president told me so.

Masato & Daryl are surprised.

Daryl: Wait, what?

Masato: That's so sudden. Why didn't he say anything?

But the Prince just suddenly laughs out loud, much to everyone's surprise.

Alexandre Ankh: It's Obvious. He suffered from so much humiliation that he decided to flee. Ace of Games is more like Ace of Cowardliness. (Laughs more)

Masato & Daryl look at him with cold expressions as they cross their arms. Meanwhile, Kei, standing in front of a long transparent window, with his arms behind him, has a thought in his mind while smiling as he looks at the open sky. He remembers Hou & Garg's request before leaving.

Kei: I was surprised when they made such a request. But I allowed it because I can tell why. (flashback ends) The question is...will it be worth it?

And in Dragon World, 3 days have passed, Hou & Garga continue to train with each other. They're currently in the middle of a sword duel with both parties using their speed and precision to clash. However, upon clashing swords, Garga knocked Hou back down to the ground.

Hou: Eughhh...Argh...

Hou opens his eyes slightly and looks at the morning sun...

OP: Undead.

The training ceases for a while, and Garga pours some hot tea from a thermos into a cup and passes it to his exhausted buddy, who's sitting in front of a medium-sized rock.

Hou: (Takes the cup) Thanks. (Drinks)

Garga: Your mind was elsewhere, wasn't it?

Hou: Huh?

Garga: Tell me the truth. You were thinking about what I said three days earlier.

Hou: (sigh) I still haven't found my wish. Nor my purpose. I don't even know how I want to achieve it.

Garga: Like I said. That's why we must train. Not even I can find my answers in a short time. It took me months to reach where I am today.

Hou: Garga. No offense, but you're a monster and I'm a human. To top things off, you're a god too. I can't even fight properly just now.

Garga: Patience. Don't be impulsive. It's okay to lose. Remember what you said to me once?

Hou: Ah?

Hou & Garga remember what Hou said to him previously after they lost to Daryl the first time.

Hou(Past): A real man always gets back up after defeat. No matter what the odds are, they never give up. Defeat is like an opportunity to get stronger.

Flashback ends.

Hou: Oh yeah, yes. {Fustrated} But it's been three days already. We've practiced and practiced, mediated left and right. I can't do a thing.

Garga: If you keep thinking that way, of course, you can't. I'm honestly not okay with that attitude of yours. You need to keep yourself together.

Hou: I...

Garga: (sigh) Rest for now. We'll continue shortly.

Hou: Kay...

???: Hmm, is that you, my apprentice?

Both: Huh?

A voice approaches them, much to their surprise. Revealed before them is a large white dragon. His appearance resembles Garga's original form, but with grand armaments and a giant staff. Garga is really shocked to see who it is.

Garga: It's you... Master.

???: It's been a long time, old friend.

Hou: Whoa...you're...huge.

???: (Laughs) Do not fret, young one. You must be Hou Ren. It's a pleasure to meet you.

Garga: Hou Ren, this is my master, Gardragon Gigantusk II. He's the one who taught me everything I know about Combat.

Hou: {surprised} What?

Gigantusk: Indeed. Although I am disappointed that he did not show up in Dragon World often.

Garga: Apologies, Master. I was busy honing my skills on Earth. While also spending time with my buddy here.

Gigantusk: So it seems. But what on earth made you decide to drop by?

Hou: Well, we came here to train in order to get stronger. At the same time, I want to find my answers.

Gigantusk: Interesting. (To Garga) Why didn't you invite him to our tribe's area? Perhaps you may find your answers there.

Garga: {surprised} Ah? {ashamed} Darn, I should have thought of that.

Gigantusk: (Laughs) As always, you focus too much on one thing that you lose focus on everything else. Not to worry. Everyone makes mistakes. Come. (Turns around) I will show you around.

Hearing this, both buddies follow suit. They walked until they eventually reached a massive city. All of the folks are dragons and other creatures, big and small. The ruins are broken but still align with each other in terms of design. Everyone is friendly with one another as they roam around, talking, training, and playing games with one another. Hou is surprised as they continue walking.

Gigantusk: The Gargantua Ruins. Home of the Deity Dragon Tribe. Naturally, this is my home. And your buddy's too before leaving for Earth.

Garga: He's right. This is where I grew up.

Hou: I thought Deity Dragon Tribe was just an attribute on cards.

Gigantusk: It's more than that. Every Dragon here comes from an origin place. It's more than just words on a card itself. I never told you this, but I am also one of the seven leaders who manage this clan.

Hou: What? So basically, you just boss around and everything?

Gigantusk: Something like that. I have to manage a lot of responsibilities to keep this clan stable. Just like you & Guerrier, keeping your life stable.

Hou: Guerrier?

Garga: It's my real name. Guerrier Gardragon. It means "Warrior" if you don't understand it.

Hou: Oh. I have a question. If you're Garga's mentor, then does this mean you're a god too?

Gigantusk: No, I'm not. I may be his mentor, but I'm not one of the Dragods. I didn't promote myself to Godhood because I have a clan to manage. And as you can tell by my appearance, my age is upon me.

Garga: Master. Don't say that. You taught me not to look at the downsides of things. You can't just simply give up like that.

Gigantusk: My apprentice, I've taught you well. But this is Destiny. It's inevitable. The least I can do is to spend my remaining days here.

Garga: {Sad} Oh...

Gigantusk: Don't be sad. We're almost there.

Hou: Wha? Where are we going exactly?

Gigantusk: Something that my apprentice will find familiar.

Garga: Huh? (ponders) [It can't be...]

Soon, they reach a broken yet historic cave entrance. All of the walls are torn down, but still reveal symbols and insignias on them. Garga is quite surprised.

Garga: Is this?

Gigantusk: Why don't we go inside? (Walks inside)

The moment they reached the inside, the two buddies were surprised by what was before them. A very large space with walls carved with inscriptions. There's even a staircase that leads to a statue of Garga himself.

Garga: Everything is quite clean here.

Gigantusk: I took the liberty of sending a few subjects to clean this place.

Hou: (Points at front) There's a statue of you, Garga.

Gigantusk: Indeed. As one of the Dragods, you are respected around here. Though back then, the statue was not made since you were not a god in the past. That statue was made after your promotion.

Garga: {smiles} This brings back memories.

Hou: Sorry?

Garga: Hou. I believe you may recognize it as one of your cards.

Hou: Uh...(realizes) OH. Gargantua Site, Combat Deity Hall!!!

Garga: That's right. This is where I meditated back then. What kind of answers will I seek? I often came here to find them.

Gigantusk: This is also where your buddy and I came to practice and hone our skills in combat. Speaking of which, (turns around) why don't we do this like old times, my apprentice?

Garga: What? But don't you have to—

Gigantusk: I have time to spare. Besides, I've been wanting to see how much you have grown since your time on earth.

Garga: If I must. But be warned, I will not hold back. (Transforms into Gargantua Knight Dragon)

Gigantusk: So will I. (Prepares Battle Stance)

Hou: I'll join too.

Garga: No.

Hou: Huh?

Garga: This is between me and my master alone. Honor is a must in this Ancient Temple.

Gigantusk: He's right. I only said I want to see how much my apprentice has grown. I suggest you sit down and observe.

Hou: Ah? {reluctant} Okay...

A few seconds later, a duel is about to begin with Gigantusk on the right and Garga on the left. Both sides stare into each other's eyes with solemnness and sharpness. Hou is standing on the side, watching how it's going to unfold.

Gigantusk: Let's Begin. (Attacks)

Garga also attacks in response. Both sides clash with arms. Starting with straight hand-to-hand combat before pushing one another with them. Suddenly, to Garga's surprise, Gigantusk just drags and throws Garga away to his side, onto the ground.

Garga: Eugh!!!

Hou: Garga!!!

Gigantusk lunges in, but Garga notices that and kicks the master off with his legs, knocking him back and destroying part of the walls in the process.

Hou: (cheers) Nice.

Gigantusk: Not bad. But...(summons a staff, spins it, and throws it) HA.

Garga stands up and summons his sword, and destroys the staff in half.

Garga: You missed.

Gigantusk: I never miss.

Gigantusk uses his hands, and the two halves of the staff suddenly just move by themselves quickly and simultaneously hit Garga's face from both sides.

Garga: Eugh!!!

Hou: Oh...that's gonna hurt.

The two halves reconnect by themselves and return to it's owner's hands.

Gigantusk: Like I said. Focus too much, and you lose focus on everything else. (rushes forward, hits Garga)

Garga: Ough...(Knocked down)

Hou: Uh Oh...

Gigantusk: Is that all you got? I was expecting more from the Deity of Combat. Just because I'm old doesn't mean I'm weak.

Garga: (Stands up) I'm aware. And you also taught me that with Age...

Garga rushes forward with his sword and clashes with his master as Gigantusk blocks with his staff.

Garga: Comes Wisdom. (Loop sword backwards and bunts the staff off)

Gigantusk: Ah?

Garga: I'm not the same Apprentice you once taught me. (Attacks with his sword)

Gigantusk: (Catches Sword with Bare Hands) Very Stubborn of you. (Kicks Back in the knee)

Garga: (Feels the Pain, Kneels Down) Errghhh!!!

Gigantusk rushes forward and right elbow punches Garga in the gut, knocking him back and once again smashing part of the walls. Garga feels pain as he shrieks while grabbing hold of his gut.

Garga: That hurts...

Gigantusk: Had enough yet?

Garga: Ergh. (Stands up slowly) I'm just warming up. Prepare to experience power like no other!!!

Garga suddenly goes Super Saiyan as Blue Lightning, and energy surrounds him. The earth rumbles with terror, and the ceiling is starting to break as some earth dust comes down, much to Hou's shock.

Garga charges forward with his sword with full power. Gigantusk, who's standing there, watches it calmly. As Garga's about to land a massive Excalibur blow, Gigantusk suddenly vanishes by moving away at high speed, much to Garga's shock.

Garga: HUH?

Suddenly, Gigantusk appears from behind at intense speed, much to Garga's shock, as the Master charges forward and bunts away his apprentice with his bare hands, knocking him back and destroying more of the walls in the process. The sound really went off with a BANG.

Hou: NO!!!

Gigantusk: You may have strength, but you lack speed and strategy. Don't always think that you have the advantage.

Meanwhile, Garga is just there, leaning up against the rubble, nearly defeated, while moving away some of the debris from earlier. His face is quite wrecked, so to speak.

Garga: Ergh...

Gigantusk: Give Up. I've taught you and raised you since young. I know everything about you.

Garga: I...

Hou: {In Despair} Hold On. This is just like...

Hou remembers the times He & Garga lost to students in the Academia left and right. He also remembers the flyers and the fact that they predict his every move. When he snapped back to the present...

Hou: {shocked} This is just like back then.

Gigantusk: Suit yourself. Fare thee well, my apprentice. (About to sledgehammer him)

Hou: NO!!!!

As Gigantusk is about to land his final strike onto Garga's chest, Hou steps atop of his buddy and opens his arms wide. Notices this in shock, Gigantusk stops, but his hands are about to slam him. Hou becomes really desperate.

Gigantusk: What are you doing? Do not interfere.

Garga: He's right. It's my battle, not yours.

Hou: No way. I'm not gonna let him kill you off like that.

Garga: But.

Hou: I don't care. You're my family, Garga. I don't want to lose you!!!

Garga: You...

Hou puts down his arms, and the two dragons look at him as he turns left and makes his statement.

Hou: I figured it out. My purpose. My wish. All this time, when I thought being universal was my purpose...When I thought being able to do anything was my only wish...I was wrong.

Garga: What are you saying?

Hou: I was frustrated. Like Master Gigantusk said, I was too focused on something that I never realized my answer was right in front of me. And by something, I meant I was too focused on my losses the other day. Because of that, I was so frustrated that I couldn't focus on the task ahead.

Garga: I see.

Gigantusk: If that's the case, then what do you want to do?

Hou: It's simple. I want to get back up, overcome myself, and I want to train harder than before. What is my purpose now? To become a strong fighter who can overcome his opponents. And what is my wish? I want to defeat Prince Alexandre Ankh.

Garga is shocked to hear what he said.

Hou: It's not that I hate him. But he's someone that I want to surpass. If I don't, then it means I cannot surpass myself or anyone else out there. I don't care what becomes of me. If I keep falling down, I'll get back up as many times as necessary. I will not stop at anything at any cost.

Garga: Hou...

Hou: But I can't do it alone. I need your help once again. You and I have been through thick and thin together. We're Buddies, aren't we?

Hearing this, Garga is in shock, and then he smiles.

Garga: Yes, we are, my friend.

Garga slowly gets back up from the debris while Gigantusk moves back a bit.

Garga: I won't deny that...like you, I am also frustrated because of the many times we've lost. And knowing you, you're not the type to stop when your mind is set on something, aren't you?

Hou: You mean it?

Garga: (Nods) And Master, you claimed you know everything about me. Well, there's one thing you don't. And is that me and my buddy...always fight together!!! And no matter what, if I have to take you down, I won't do it as long as my buddy's not around.

Hearing this, Hou smiles brightly while Gigantusk is shocked. Seeing the two of them wish to help one another, he smiles.

Gigantusk: Then it seems my job is done.

Hou & Garga: {confused} Sorry?

Gigantusk: {smiles} You expect me to fight both of you at once? I know that even with a human around, I would be defeated nonetheless. Simply put...(shows around) all of this...was a 'Wake-up call".

Hou & Garga are surprised by his words.

Gigantusk: Now that you've found your answers, there's nothing much I can do. All I can say is, train hard, stick together, believe in yourselves, and all of your desires will come to life.

The two are still surprised before looking at each other with smiles.

Hou & Garga: (Fist Bump) Yeah!!!

Suddenly, Garga starts to glow bright gold, much to everyone's shock, and they cover their eyes. Garga yells aloud as he draws power and begins to change. Hou then slightly opens his eyes and is shocked to see what happened.

Hou: Oh...My...God!!!

Everything suddenly fades white.
