Chapter 23 - becoming an adventurer

Upon arrival, they got a look at the place.

It was relatively nice everywhere you looked, actual stone roads, vendors and merchants to every side. Kids running and playing in the streets, carriages crossing. This was the best place Chase had been. "This place is nice, whatddaya know about it?" Chase asked, looking at Donovan.

"That it's deceptive." Donnie pointed to an alley with a guy getting mugged. He had his hands up while an unknown assailant in a hood threatened him with a knife to his stomach. They couldn't hear the words said but one could put two and two together.

"Do we stop him?" Chase asked, 'I'd like to see the limits of my abilities' that's what he told himself. In truth, he'd like to make an evildoer afraid. The best kind of bullying.

"We? Damian cut in. "let me do it, I'll take his hood so you can stop wearing small pieces of a coat." Honestly Chase was just fine with that. They were kind of ruining the atmosphere with their suspicious get ups, getting a decent amount of stares. namely Chase and Andrew.

At this point, the man had already handed him the money, "pleasure doing business with you" the robber said, laughing when A big man in metal armor rushed forward. He opened his palm, wrapping his hands around the man's head, before gently smashing it against the wall behind him.

The thief instantly lost consciousness. Turning around, Damian greeted the poor man. "My apologies for not arriving sooner, I was delayed." The man sigh in relief. "Oh it's fine, for a second I thought you were a knight coming to send me off to jail" "no worries" Damian said reaching down, grabbing all the stolen money, before handing it back.

"Thank you so much." He said, "I'm eternally grate…ful." he stopped talking as he watched Damian bend back down and strip the thief of his cloak.

As he stoop back up cloak in hand, he asked:

"Hey, you wouldn't know where an adventurers guild would be around here would you?" The man, a little stunned took a second before pointing to the rode everyone else is on.

"Just keep going forward. Once you see two different roads, pick the one that goes right."

"Thank you so much sir" Damian said before running back.

The man was confused "what kind of new age adventurers are we getting in the future?"

"I think I did pretty well." Damian said. He passed Chase the cloak. "Yeah I didn't know you were capable of such etiquette" Andrew said, to the shock of everyone.

Donnie was the first one to chuckle before Chase quickly followed. "Chase has gotta be be rubbing off on you" he said. "I was always this chill" Andrew retorted. "go right once we reach the end." Damian cut in. He wasn't about to let the joke drag on. His pride wouldn't allow it.

Once they got close to the spot, they could see that it was a mix between a guild and a bar. looking to the left, they could see a massive sign with tens of quests of varying levels of difficulty.

"We aren't even registered so prepare to do a bunch of shit missions before we get to the good stuff" Donovan reminded them.

To the right was a receptionist she was blonde, with glasses and a curvy figure. Behind her was a woman with jet black short hair, who seemed to be a barista.

noticing them, the blonde woman called over "how are you guys today?" "Fine, just tired."

Donnie said, taking the lead.

"Oh well I'm sorry to hear that. Are you adventurers I'm not familiar with?"

"No, actually we were coming here to get registered."

"Alright then. Would you like to do combat testing to determine your rank?" She asked,

Tipping up her glasses.

"If we could get the lowest rank possible for now, we would be happy to do combat training after a few missions" Donnie said.

Chase yawned. "Im beat, guess that's what walking all day does to you." Andrew nodded in agreement.

"Alright, that will be 10 bronzes for each of you" Chase froze 'she wants money!?' He thought to himself. He didn't have anything to his name at the moment. From the day he reincarnated, he didn't have money and he didn't get his money from the military service because he left too early.

Unfortunately she saw him staring as if ten bronzes was an astronomical amount and had begun to question if these were would be adventurers or beggars seeking refuge.

Seeing this, Donnie threw down 4 silvers.

Each silver was worth 10 bronzes. This caused her to stop the obvious squinting and place down 4 f rank badges

Donnie also threw in two more "four rooms please."
