Chapter 44 - Boundaries and Bargains

The bottle smelled like nothing, and from the part where her lisp had touched the bottle, she could taste nothing. 

What was this? A test because she had said that she trusted him? Was he trying to prove that she did not? 

His eyes reflected nothing, his face was unreadable.

What was going on in his head?!

She took the bottle from him and drank its content on one gulp.

It tasted like nothing.

What was that?!

Maybe it was water. Maybe he had done that to prove that she didn't trust it but she had pulled a move he did not expect and drank from the bottle anyway. 

Maybe she was doing something right. 

More than what the content of the bottle was, she was more troubled by his closeness. She couldn't help but focus her attention on anything else but him. Anything else hit the thoughts of her son either. 

It would be very helpful not to think of these two things at the moment.
