Chapter 43 - Where Is Arik?
The cold air hit her when she stepped out of the room. Somehow, this place felt even more sterile than it had felt inside there.
The hallway was dimly lit, and quiet.
Too quiet.
It reminded her of the time she had volunteered to take Ann's place. The day she had unknowingly put herself and Arik at risk of death. And now, she was here. In this wing again, with her son away from her and at the risk of—-
She shook her head, not wanting to think about it.
She hurried along the hallway, trying to be as quiet as possible while she tried to contain her fear. Her trembling hand pressed down on her awash doorknob, while she held the knife at the ready to attack if anyone was to come up to her.
But the doors were locked. Every single one. Just like the day she had been here.
Only that now, it was darker. It was scarier. And her son was not with her.
Experiment.
She could hear Demir's voice in her head over and over again as he had said those words.
