Chapter 6 - Chapter 10: Turmoil at the Police Station

In the VIP ward of City Hospital, Li Haibo and his wife looked at their son lying crippled on the hospital bed, their faces filled with grief and indignation. Seeing his nephew in such a state, Li Haitao's fleshy face trembled with rage. "Brother, I'm taking my men right now to wipe out that kid's whole family!" he roared, turning to leave.

"Get back here! Do you think there isn't enough trouble already?" Li Haibo snapped.

"Dad, you have to get revenge for me," Li Siyuan said from the bed, his voice strained.

"Serves you right, you useless fool! You've shamed the entire Li family," Li Haibo shouted, scolding his troublemaking son.

"Haibo! How can you not feel any pain seeing our son beaten like this?" his wife cried, blaming him.

Li Haibo paced the room, his face dark and brow furrowed. He understood clearly that anyone who dared to injure his son so brazenly must have significant backing. If this matter wasn't handled properly, it could affect his political career. Yet, letting it go was a bitter pill to swallow. A cold glint flashed in his eyes. He looked up and said to his secretary, "Secretary Wu, go to the police station. Inform Chief He about Siyuan's assault. This is a serious case of violent injury. I believe Chief He will handle it impartially."

"Mayor, rest assured. I know what to say," Secretary Wu said, bowing slightly before turning and leaving the ward.

"Brother, why involve that He guy? Wouldn't it be better if I just took my men and wiped out that kid's family?" Li Haitao grumbled.

"You understand nothing! Keep a low profile these next few days," Li Haibo scolded sternly.

In his office, He Hui smoked cigarette after cigarette. The incident with Li Siyuan's beating was giving him a major headache. He stubbed out a half-smoked cigarette in the ashtray and rubbed his temples. Li Haibo, you old fox. You're throwing this hot potato Guo Feiyu to me, trying to make me look bad. Well, it won't work.

After a moment's thought, He Hui picked up the phone on his desk. "Hello, Captain Liu. Take some men and investigate the matter concerning Mayor Li's son being beaten. Remember, we are civilized police officers. We must handle this case in a civilized manner."

Guo Feiyu, who had been chatting with Han Wei at the hospital, was politely "invited" to the police station by several officers with extremely good attitudes. It was Guo Feiyu's first time at the H City Police Headquarters. As soon as he entered the main office hall, he saw a middle-aged man in a police uniform walking towards him. The man extended his hand before he even reached Guo Feiyu, smiling and saying, "Young Master Guo, I'm He Hui, the Chief of the Police Bureau."

Guo Feiyu also extended his hand and shook He Hui's. "Oh, so you're Chief He."

He Hui escorted Guo Feiyu to a reception room, personally poured him a cup of tea, and said with a helpless expression, "Inviting you here today, Young Master Guo, was a last resort. You must understand that Li Siyuan is Mayor Li's only son, so the pressure on me is immense."

Guo Feiyu picked up the teacup from the table, took a sip, and smiled slightly. "I understand. But don't worry, Chief He, I won't make things difficult for you."

Just as Guo Feiyu and He Hui were exchanging pleasantries, the door to the reception room opened. Li Haibo, his wife, and Secretary Wu walked in. The moment Li Haibo entered, his eyes locked onto Guo Feiyu. Guo Feiyu remained composed, taking small sips of his tea, a faint smile playing on his lips.

"I heard Chief He had apprehended the person who seriously injured my son, so I came specifically to see for myself," Li Haibo said, adopting the demeanor of a mayor, his voice低沉.

He Hui quickly stood up, walked over to Li Haibo, and pointed at Guo Feiyu, his face all smiles. "Mayor Li, this is Guo Feiyu. I was just inquiring about the details of the incident."

Upon hearing that this was Guo Feiyu, Li Haibo's wife, forgetting her status as the mayor's wife, burst out cursing, "You reckless beast! How dare you hit our Siyuan! I'll make sure you rot in jail for life!" Before she could finish her sentence, Guo Feiyu flicked his wrist, splashing the contents of his half-full cup of still-warm tea directly into her face.

She let out a sharp cry, covering her face with both hands. No one in the reception room had expected Guo Feiyu to be so brazen. Police officers outside, hearing the scream and thinking an emergency had occurred, drew their pistols and rushed in.

Guo Feiyu placed the empty teacup back on the table, looked up, and said coldly, "I detest shrews the most."

Rage flared up from the depths of Li Haibo's heart. He was about to erupt when his phone rang. He pointed a shaking finger at Guo Feiyu twice, pulled out his phone, and yelled, "Whatever it is, report to me later!" But when he heard the familiar voice on the other end, his face instantly turned ashen. "Yes... Yes, Governor Wang, I understand. I definitely won't cause you any trouble. Governor Wang, you're busy, goodbye."

Li Haibo's arm dropped limply to his side. The burning anger in his heart was extinguished. He couldn't comprehend the extent of this young man's background, to have even his former superior, the current Provincial Governor Wang, speak so cautiously and ambiguously. He shot Guo Feiyu a look of unwilling resentment, then said to He Hui, "Chief He, today's matter was all a misunderstanding. I have some documents to sign, so I'll take my leave. You carry on." Li Haibo then supported his still-complaining wife and walked out. Guo Feiyu also stood up and left.

He Hui personally escorted Guo Feiyu all the way to the main entrance of the police station. Parked outside were over a dozen Mercedes-Benz S500 sedans and one Lincoln limousine. More than fifty bodyguards in immaculate suits and polished shoes stood in perfect formation. Both Li Haibo and He Hui, who had reached the entrance, froze on the spot. Guo Feiyu saw it was his family's motorcade. Li Tianzheng walked over and said respectfully, "Young Master, the Family Head sent me to bring you home."

"Alright, let's go back," Guo Feiyu said with a nod before getting into the Lincoln limousine. Watching the luxurious motorcade drive away, Li Haibo finally understood one thing: in Guo Feiyu's eyes, he was nothing but an insignificant nobody. Crushing him would be easier for Guo Feiyu than stepping on an ant. He tilted his head back and let out a long sigh, then helped his still-cursing wife into their car.

After returning home, Guo Feiyu was summoned to the study by Guo Aotian. Looking at his son, Guo Aotian said with concern, "Feiyu, I'm aware of what you've been doing lately. As long as you don't harm the interests of the nation or our family, your grandfather, your godfather, and I will fully support you."

Guo Feiyu smiled confidently. "Don't worry, Dad. I know the path I need to take. I'll definitely give you a pleasant surprise in the end."

"Heh, no need for surprises. Just make sure you keep your direction clear. When are you bringing Zhang Ya home for your mother and me to have a proper look at her?" Guo Aotian said, patting his son's shoulder with a laugh.

"I'm not even in a hurry, why are you guys so eager?" Guo Feiyu scratched his head and chuckled awkwardly.

"Dad, Zhang Ya's class is almost over. I need to get back to school to have lunch with her. Otherwise, if she gets angry, your son will be in trouble," Guo Feiyu said, glancing at his watch.

Guo Aotian smiled and nodded. Guo Feiyu turned and left the study.

Zhang Qiang drove Guo Feiyu to City Hospital. Guo Feiyu bought lunch for Han Wei on the way. Entering the ward, he found Zhang Ya was also there. The moment she saw Guo Feiyu, she threw herself into his arms. The traitorous tears welled up in her eyes, swirling only twice before rolling down her cheeks one by one.

"Worried about your husband again, were you? Those police officers just invited me for tea. They wouldn't dare lay a finger on your husband even if you gave them the courage," Guo Feiyu said softly, holding Zhang Ya.

Suddenly remembering there were other patients in the ward, Zhang Ya quickly pushed Guo Feiyu away, her face blushing as she stood to the side with her head lowered.
