Chapter 93 - Contact

No matter what status or identity one had before, now everyone had to take on missions and work to earn money.

Humanity across the entire world had entered a state of near equality.

Welt Yang pushed open the door and stepped into the living room. Siegfried and Raiden Ryoma followed close behind. All three looked disheveled, their faces covered in dust, and collapsed onto the sofa.

Tesla: "What were you three doing?"

Siegfried: "Working at a construction site. I feel like everything I did was meaningless. We spent half a day moving materials, and then they instantly returned to where they were."

Welt Yang adjusted his black-rimmed glasses seriously. "In this world, many tasks are nothing more than meaningless repetitive labor. They contribute nothing to the advancement of human civilization."

Einstein: "I think it's because they don't need us to develop anymore."

Welt Yang: "Do you believe in what Mei saw at Chiba Academy?"

Raiden Ryoma: "Leader, my daughter would never lie, but what she saw might not necessarily be real."

If the intelligence provided by his daughter was accurate, then the Sirin from that other world, along with the Honkai faction she led, was simply terrifying.

Humanity hadn't even left their own solar system yet!

How could they possibly fight against a Honkai faction capable of traversing infinite universes and ruling over countless worlds?

Einstein: "Given our current situation, the truth doesn't even matter. The life and death of human civilization are in her hands now. We have no leverage to negotiate with her."

The "her" she referred to was, of course, the otherworldly Sirin.

She had the power to annihilate humanity, resurrect them, alter the world, create countless NPCs powerful enough to destroy civilization, and control the entire human society.

Welt Yang, Siegfried, and Raiden Ryoma fell silent.

Indeed.

If the otherworldly Sirin wanted to destroy human civilization, there was nothing they could do.

Even disregarding her own power, the vast number of NPC humans and monsters scattered across the world could easily wipe out mankind.

Defeating her like they had once defeated the Herrscher of the Void Sirin was impossible.

Unless that otherworldly Sirin willingly restored the world herself and chose to leave.

Einstein continued, "Based on the intel we've gathered, the students and teachers within Academy City differ from those outside. They come from different worlds, races, and civilizations. We need to confirm whether this is true."

Tesla: "Chicken-head, don't tell me you're thinking of defecting!"

Einstein: "Dr. Tesla, do you have a better idea then?"

The moment Einstein said that, Welt Yang and Raiden Ryoma both turned their eyes toward Tesla.

"I..."

Tesla was at a loss for words.

She truly had no idea what to do. The otherworldly Sirin had effortlessly rendered all of human technology useless.

The power gap was simply too great.

Moreover, Sirin wasn't even alone.

"Let's go to Academy City together first," Einstein suggested.

"Fine," Tesla agreed with a nod.

Academy City.

Chiba Academy.

In the Headmistress' office—

Diana sat at her desk, hands clasped beneath her chin. She looked at Amber, Natasha, Tesla, and Einstein for a while before finally speaking. "Under normal circumstances, it would be impossible for you to become teachers at Chiba Academy. But for Sirin's sake, I'll make an exception this once."

"Alright, you may leave now."

Einstein pondered silently. Did this mean their entry had been arranged on purpose?

Natasha asked in confusion, "That's it?"

Diana replied, "That's it. Teach whatever you wish. Whether students attend your classes or not is none of my concern."

Natasha: "..."

She had expected some kind of test!

And just like that, they had become teachers.

Leaving the Headmistress' office, Natasha turned to Amber, Tesla, and Einstein with a smile. "Nice to meet you."

Currently, Schicksal and Anti-Entropy knew little about World Serpent.

None of the three realized that Natasha was actually Raven—a senior officer of World Serpent.

"Hello," Amber nodded.

Schicksal had sent quite a few people to apply as teachers or students at Academy City, but most had failed.

Only a handful managed to succeed—and none of them were ordinary individuals.

Amber turned to Tesla and Einstein. "What a coincidence, Doctors."

Tesla clicked her tongue. "Tch, so you came too."

Natasha feigned ignorance. "You know each other?"

"No."

Tesla denied it immediately. Of course she knew Amber—she had been the secretary to Schicksal's Overseer, Otto.

Though both Schicksal and Anti-Entropy were on the verge of disbandment, it wasn't so easy to completely dissolve two world-class organizations.

Naturally, a large number of their members had already defected or left.

Just then, two white-haired girls walked toward them.

Amber froze upon seeing them.

That was K-423?!

And the one beside her—could it be Kiana?

No, that couldn't be right. Kiana was with Siegfried and hadn't entered Academy City!

The Herrscher of the Void noticed Tesla and Einstein standing by the doorway. They looked familiar. After thinking for a moment, she recalled—they were the two women who had always been by that man's side.

Why were these humans here?

"Sister, what's wrong?"

Durandal noticed her sister's odd expression and asked with concern.

"It's nothing."

The Herrscher of the Void shook her head.

Ignoring the four at the door, she took Durandal's small hand and walked straight into the Headmistress' office.

Tesla whispered, "Chicken-head..."

Einstein interrupted, "We'll talk later."

She knew exactly what Tesla wanted to say. K-423 now went by the name Durandal, and her sister—the resurrected Herrscher of the Void, Sirin—was known within Chiba Academy as the "Spring Elfin."

Amber watched as Tesla and Einstein left, then turned to glance at the office door. The girl just now definitely wasn't Kiana Kaslana.

She needed to report this to Lord Otto!

But after taking a few steps, she stopped.

She suddenly remembered—Otto no longer cared about matters involving K-423, Sirin, or Kiana.

The reason he had sent her here was to investigate Academy City's technology related to resurrection, souls, and space-time.
