Chapter 24 - Surprise

"Lady dani, are you alright?"

Rachel rushed to heal Dani, she seemed to faint.

She utilized all her energy in the last attack.

And the result, no traces of the cruelmancers were left.

Everyone was extremely delighted but a question remained in everyone's head, wasn't this war too simple, they even lessened their number of fighters, still none of them were injured or killed in any way.

"Everyone, there is no doubt we have won this war and since we did not lose anyone in this process, let us rejoice, it is our victory."

"For the unity of Memoria"

They all raised their voices together and followed after what dani said.

"What about the treasure?"

Casper had this question in his mind, since they have come this far from Insaria.

"Let us keep it here it is more safe that way.

Let us head back now."

They headed back to the shore where the ships were kept.

Everyone aboded their respective ships.

Before heading the ship, .

Dani was thinking about the secret she found out

The war is finally over, maybe I can tell Casper and Sarah the truth I got to know.

"Lady Dani..."

But a voice from behind stopped her and she turned to look back.

Oh it's Sarah... Dani was shocked as a few moments before she was thinking about her.

"You fought really well, Sarah.

Your team also put up a great fight."

"Thank you Lady Dani your compliment means a lot, but I wanted to talk to you about something else."

Dani patiently listened to what Sarah wanted to say.

"Yes.."

"As the war is over shouldn't we head back fast, and do all the necessary procedures and ceremonies for the burial of my master."

"Yes, I got what you are saying, I was thinking of doing the same thing, utilizing the teleportation crystal."

"Don't worry we will get there on time."

"I have something important to tell you and Casper."

"Lady Dani, let's abode the ship, you can tell me when we reach Insaria. So,I will take my leave."

I guess she is too excited after the victory in the war and heading back fast to meet Melania.

Dani aboded the ship and all the three ships started their journey towards Insaria.

They used the teleportation crystal this time too.

It was very simple to use, the teleportation did not mean literal travel in space instantly between two places, but this stone could only be used to travel twice the speed, lessening down the time required to cover the same distance.

And it had the advantage of being used on multiple objects at the same time.

The disadvantage was it requires someone to show the path it has to follow and is very rare stone.

Dani thought about all this, as Melania's burial was supposed to be in Eleris and this time all the citizens will be coming along to pay their respects hence more ships will be required and more teleportation crystals.

The wind was flowing, the weather was nice, the scenery was beautiful but in between all this a tensed Dani was seen thinking about all this.

Casper noticed her being so silent so he called out to her…

"Dani, are you alright, you seemed to taking a lot of stress. We won the war, so what is the issue?"

"Casper, I don't know if you will believe, but there is something I want to tell you."

"Yes, go on I am listening."

Even Casper thought what could be causing Dani so much stress that she has forgotten about the victory.

"So, you remember I had sent Sophia to Morquine?"

"Yes, you told us about it , regarding some work in the church."

"That is not the whole thing, I had sent her there for some work related to Melania."

"Melania..??"

Casper's eyes widened, it was Melania ,she was talking about. How could he not know something important had happened related to Melania.

"Yes, so while I was questioning that traitor Rica, I came across some questionable facts. To check if it was correct I sent Sophia there."

"And what does all of this have to do with Melania."

Casper became impatient listening that traitor had some facts related to Melania.

"So, when the sword pierced Melania, it liberated a very bright light."

"A bright light, I never saw anything of that sort."

"What..??"

Does this have something to do with mages who practice art of mana. The texts did not tell about anything like this. It only mentioned such a light was a result of a complex level spell.

"I guess it has something to do with us mages, the ancient texts kept in Morquine stated it was a work of some magic spell."

"So, you are trying to say that some sort of spell intertwined the death of Melania?"

"Yes, quite likely and we do not know if it is a good thing or bad one. For now, we only have the corpse of Melania lying in the underground floor chamber."

"I have to meet Melania, when will we reach."

Casper was determined to meet Melania and talk out his feelings to her for the last time, but …

"We will probably reach by evening."

...time was the constraint; he had to be patient.

"Everyone is alright after the war but a bit fatigued. I had told Rachel to go and check upon everyone just in case."

"Yes, she is checking on the knights resting on the ship."

They both just starred at the sky, each with different thoughts in their minds.

But the centre of all their thoughts were Melania.

They were worried about her even though she did not belong to this world anymore.

It was quiet journey as compared to before where they were discussing stuffs related to war.

Everyone was taking rest, knights and mages both.

The shore of Vasta was becoming visible.

It was coming nearer and nearer to them.

They finally got off the port of Vasta.

Everything was intact, the protection barrier and the surroundings seemed normal .

It was too quiet, the horses and the carriages they came was no where to be seen.

Quite a surprise upon reaching in Insaria.
