Chapter 115 - CHAPTER One Hundred And Ten: The Truth In The Dark

The next day, Emma and Amy moved quietly through the cold morning air. They stayed low and kept their heads up as they approached the mineral site.

"Something is wrong." Emma said.

Amy nodded. "Yeah. The Marines basically took the entire site over."

They slipped behind a stack of crates and peeked around.

"This is bad," Emma said.

"Let's go back." Amy replied.

They hurried away and returned to their room where Noah was already waiting.

Noah's eyes narrowed when they entered. "What did you find?"

"The Marines took over the whole site." Emma said.

"And the dragonkin workers look like slaves," Amy added.

Noah stood up.

"We'll investigate again tonight. This time I'm going too."

Later that night the three of them sneaked out of the place. They slipped past guards and climbed over the giant walls until they reached the mineral site.

"Follow me. Quietly. Noah whispered.

They sneak Inside the site, the air was heavy with the smell of blood and chemicals. They walked until they reached a huge door deep inside the mine.

Emma stopped.

"This door is huge."

The door had the world government symbol on it. Noah placed his hand on the handle and twisted.

It was unlocked.

When they entered, they saw stairs going down.

They walked down the stairs until they reached the bottom of the mineral mine.

"What's that." amy asked as she points at the wall.

Noah walked over to the wall and examinations it.

There were chains on the walls and blood on the ground.

Noah walks over to the other side of the wall. He stopped all of a sudden, his eyes widened.

Men, women and kids chained to the walls. Their scales were cracked, and their eyes removed.

"No…" Amy whispered.

Emma covered her mouth. "They're alive…why would they do this to their own people?"

Noah clenched his fists and his eyes glow with killing intent.

"This is worse than I thought."

They could hear the prisoners crying.

One girl whispered, "Help… please…"

Noah stepped forward, but then he heard footsteps approaching them.

"Let's go," Noah said. "We can't save them right now."

When the reached back at the palace Emma and Amy went straight to their room.

Noah walked to Alice's room and knocked on the door.

"Come in," Alice said.

Noah stepped inside and sat on the edge of the bed.

"You look tense," Alice said, not looking up.

"We need to talk," Noah said.

"About what?" Alice asked.

"Did you know that some of your people are being chained to the walls underneath the mineral site?" Noah asked bluntly.

Alice's eyes flicked up.

"What…? No, that can't be true."

"So you really didn't know?" Noah asked.

"I would never hurt my people," Alice said quickly. "Never."

"Then the Marines must be behind it," Noah said. "You said your brother doesn't know much about what's going on but I don't believe that."

Alice bit her lip. "He… he might know. I don't know anymore."

"He does," Noah said.

Alice's shoulders slumped slightly.

Noah sighed.

"I'm sleeping on the bed tonight."

Alice raised an eyebrow.

"You're sleeping on the ground."

"Nope," Noah said, sliding onto the bed. "I might need all my strength tomorrow and i can't fight properly if my back hurts."

Alice sighed.

The next morning

Noah spots Allen talking to Admiral Raime near the training field. Both looked serious.

Raime noticed Noah and smiled. "Neah. How are you?"

"I'm good but i do need to speak to Allen alone for a minute," Noah said.

Raime nodded. "Understood. We'll talk later young prince." He then walked away.

Allen turned toward Noah.

"What do you want?"

Noah stepped forward. "Did you sell your people to the Marines?"

Allen's eyes widened. "Wh-why would you say that? I've been nothing but kind to you, Noah."

"No more lies," Noah said. "You tricked your sister. You tricked your people. But you can't trick me."

Noah unsheathed his sword slowly. "It's time to end this game."

Allen stumbled back.

"Noah—please, don't!"

Then, suddenly, everything changed. Allen trembling stopped. A crooked smile spread across his face, and his hair color changed to white.

"Hahaha… what can you do against a king, peasant?" Allen said.

Noah holds his chin. "I see now. That explains everything."

Noah sheathed his sword. "I'm leaving tomorrow. And I'm taking Alice with me."

Later that night

Noah walked to Alice's room and knocked lightly.

She opened the door.

"Come in,"

Noah stepped inside and sat down around her desk.

"What happened with Allen?" Alice asked.

"Nothing good," Noah said. "Your brother… he has another personality."

Alice stiffened slightly. "What…?"

"He acts kind. Harmless. But underneath, there's something dark controlling him."

Alice's squeezed her hands.

"A second personality… all this time?"

"Yes," Noah replied.

Alice shivered. "My brother… the one I trusted…"

Suddenly.

BOOM!

The building shook. Another explosion hit the back wall.

Noah jumped to his feet. "It seems like you're brother chose war."

Emma and Amy woke to Marines bursting into their room with rifles and pistols pointing at them.

"Emma! Move!" Amy shouted, smashing the first Marine into the wall with her knee.

"Why now?!" Emma yelled, drawing her blades.

Back in Alice's room.

Noah unsheathedhis sword

"stay behind me," Noah whispered.

Alice summons her spare which then turns into a sword. "Noah!"
