Chapter 25 - 25

I don't want to be deceived."

A simple, crude warning, very much in Ryougi Shiki's style.

Shen He just nodded, not speaking.

Trust isn't that easy to build; actions speak louder than words.

Although that's what they say.

"I'll still go and see. Since I've gotten involved, I bear some responsibility. Shiki, you stay here." Shen He stopped the truck and walked down with Violet.

Ryougi Shiki stared at his retreating back.

He was angry.

Ryougi Shiki's eyebrows furrowed again. She knew it was because of her words and actions, but she just wanted to make things clear first.

Shen He was indeed a bit depressed now. He only wanted to save Asgard, but he left Ryougi Shiki with the impression of being a "liar."

At most, it was just a bit of coaxing.

He took off his jacket, draped it over Violet's head, then braved the wind and sand to a high vantage point. Through the binoculars, he could clearly see Thor lurking in a corner of the dilapidated village, quietly waiting for the Terrorists rushing towards them.

This was a World of superheroes.

Although when he watched movies before, he was completely drawn in by the cool special effects, the seemingly invincible combat scenes, and the glory of saving the World.

But in reality, being a hero wasn't that easy.

These two words represent protection; in the face of a crisis where everyone is desperate, to stand up without hesitation, protect the weak and innocent, and bring hope and courage—that is what a hero is.

The current Thor might not be able to do this.

Thor was hiding behind a civilian house, gripping the gun in his hand.

Think, think. Think about what?

He used to charge into enemy lines, leading the charge, killing left and right, and no matter how powerful the enemy, he would always emerge victorious.

So his plan was to wait for those bastards to arrive, use the weapons in his hand to take them out one by one, let Shen He see his heroic combat prowess, and perhaps Shen He would be impressed and help him regain his divine power.

Bang!

The sound of a porcelain bowl shattering.

Thor turned his head and saw a little girl in ragged, off-White clothes, covering her mouth in terror, staring at him.

Shhh—

Thor quickly put a finger to his lips, showing a kind smile.

The little girl nodded, carefully backing away until she turned the corner.

Before Thor could even let out a sigh of relief, the little girl's scream echoed from afar.

That little brat!

Thor stood up, wanting to find another spot, but a large group of people with simple weapons rushed over. Seeing his attire and the gun in his hand, they roared angrily in a language he didn't understand, some even attempting to charge directly at him.

"I'm here to help you! Hey! Don't misunderstand!"

Thor waved his hands frantically, shouting, but he couldn't understand what these people were saying, and they couldn't understand him. Someone with a long spear excitedly fired, hitting the ground near Thor's feet.

"How dare you attack Thor!"

Thor charged directly, knocking down the person who fired with one punch, then crashed left and right.

Before the Terrorists arrived, he actually started fighting with the civilians.

"What should we do in this situation?" Qi Mu's voice appeared in Shen He's mind.

Shen He put down the binoculars speechlessly. The scene was so awkward, he couldn't bear to watch.

Boom—!

Fortunately, a Fireball exploded in the village just in time, sending up a cloud of dust.

Several trucks rushed into the village, gunshots erupted, and everyone scattered in terror.

They only had very crude weapons and were completely unable to retaliate.

"Hahaha! They're finally here!"

Thor twisted his shoulder, which had just been hit by who-knows-what, raised his rifle, and accurately hit several enemies with bullets.

Even though it was his first time using a firearm, Thor's combat instincts as the Thor still allowed him to handle it with ease.

The counterattack here attracted the attention of both the Terrorists and the civilians, and more and more civilians ran behind him.

"Yes! Just like this! Hahaha!"

The battle also invigorated Thor; he enjoyed the feeling of defeating enemies.

Wielding his gun, he dodged around the small village while fiercely retaliating. He felt as if he had returned to being the invincible Thor, easily defeating enemies one by one. This allowed him to vent the suppressed emotions of the past few days. He grew more and more excited, the gunfire and explosions making his blood boil.

"He has already died three times,"

Saiki Kusuo stood on a rooftop, his voice reaching Shen He.

Thor was completely immersed in the battle, forgetting his mission to protect the people. If it weren't for Saiki Kusuo, not only would he himself have died, but several civilians would have as well.

Shen He didn't speak. He saw clearly through the binoculars that more Terrorists were surging towards them, and there was even a tank.

Boom—!

The tank's cannon Fire flew over Thor, hitting the civilian house behind him.

It seemed that the deafening sound in his ears finally made Thor snap out of it.

"No, no, no."

Thor mumbled and looked back, only then realizing that he had unwittingly ventured deep into the enemy's midst.

And the distant civilians were still scattering, being continuously mowed down by the Terrorists with machine guns.

He even saw the girl who had discovered him earlier, crying as she ran towards her fallen parents, while not far away, a Terrorist was grinning menacingly, aiming a Rocket launcher at them.

Thor instinctively hurled the firearm in his hand, hitting the person directly in the head.

However, just as he thought the little girl was saved, the tank fired again with a roar, and the little girl, along with her parents, was engulfed by a ferocious Fireball.

"No—!"

Thor roared loudly, charging towards them.

He had never felt this way before. He had always only had comrades by his side. This was the first time he had defeated enemies but felt no joy.

If only I had my divine power, if only I had my divine power!

Flashes of lightning sparked in Thor's eyes.

Then his body flew up—because a shell exploded right beside him.

Tinnitus, dizziness, pain. And regret.

"End this, Qi Mu." Shen He slowly stood up.

The moment his words finished, Saiki Kusuo appeared beside Thor, extended his palm, and all the firearms flew up, gathering above him to be crumpled into an iron ball, while the tank's cannon barrel twisted 180 degrees. In less than two seconds, the dense gunfire, like firecrackers, ceased.

The special forces, already prepared outside the village, rushed in and killed the bewildered Terrorists.

When Thor slowly opened his eyes from the ringing in his ears and dizziness, he saw Shen He walking towards him, and his girlfriend, Jane, rushing to his side.

"I'm sorry." These were Thor's first words.

"You don't need to apologize. No one was hurt. Qi Mu saved everyone, including that little girl and her parents." Shen He sat directly on the ground next to Thor. "Now, I think you should understand why I said you weren't capable of being king."

"I'm just filled with regret." Thor tightly gripped his girlfriend's hand. "Regret that I couldn't kneel beside my father, to beg him to forgive my ignorance and recklessness."

The protagonist also needs to grow.
