Chapter 11 - 11

Feeling a bit down, Watson had no choice but to vent his anger on the remaining enemies.

His final experience value settled at Level 4 (100/200).

The smoke-filled battlefield finally returned to peace.

--- "Wula ~ Wula ~"

The legendary cleanup crew finally arrived.

Numerous police cars and riot vans began to surround the area!

Looking at the buildings engulfed in flames and the bodies strewn everywhere, who would have thought this was once a prosperous street!

This was practically a battlefield!

"Everyone! Drop your weapons! This is the Manhattan Central Police Department! Put your hands on your heads!"

Coulson raised his hands, sending a message to Nick Fury while shouting, "Friendlies! We've been attacked by terrorists! Quickly have your people cordon off this area!"

At this moment, the police chief, holding a megaphone, also received notification from his superior and turned to the riot police forming the encirclement: "Alright, lads! Drop your weapons! Quickly set up the cordon! Go into the surrounding buildings and find the injured! Notify the ambulances—"

Watching the police chief issue orders in an orderly fashion, Coulson turned to Clinton and said, "Quickly get him back to the branch! I'll handle things here." Then he walked towards Watson: "Thank you very much for your help, Mr. Watson! We will surely have a long-lasting friendship!"

"Just call me Watson, Coulson. If there's nothing else, I'll head back. I don't think I'm needed here anymore, am I?"

"Of course. If you need my help, please call me. This is my number, a private one, of course."

At this point, Clinton also walked over: "I owe you one, buddy. Let's grab a drink after the mission is over, my treat. By the way, your armor is awesome."

Watson readily accepted the invitation and exchanged phone numbers with Clinton. After bidding farewell to Coulson and Clinton, he walked in the direction of his home.

But just as Watson was about to find a secluded spot to remove his equipment...

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he saw two figures, one large and one small, inside a convenience store to his left that was already engulfed in flames! But they disappeared in a flash.

Someone was trapped inside?! Watson, momentarily stunned, quickly rushed over.

"Hey! Don't go in! It's dangerous!! Fuck! Get the fire trucks over here! There are people inside!" The arriving firefighters saw a red figure rushing into the burning convenience store and immediately shouted!

Watson, ignoring them, rushed to the convenience store entrance, completely disregarding the towering flames.

With the attributes of my Fire Dragon Suit and my beginner hunter physique, would I be afraid of such a small scene?

Bang!!

He kicked open the door, which was already warped by the fire.

"Where are you?! Can you hear me?!"

"Ahhh!!!!"

No sooner had Watson spoken than he heard a scream!

Inside!

Watson quickly rushed in, punching away falling rebar and broken wood.

This is it. The staff lounge!

"Is anyone inside?! Stay away from the door! I'm coming in!"

Hearing no response, Watson directly kicked open the metal door.

Bang! The metal door flew backward. Watson rushed inside and found the figures he had seen earlier! A mother and daughter!

The little girl had already fainted, and only the mother was still conscious. Noticing the shredded cloth on their faces and the mother's slightly lowered pants, Watson already knew what had happened.

But! The front hall was already a sea of fire!

I can get out, but they can't!

"Save... save the child, save... my child!!" The young mother seemed to see a blurry figure shouting at them.

A glimmer of hope erupted in her eyes, and she spoke her deepest desire!

The young mother's murmur forced Watson, who was originally a bit at a loss, to calm down! "Fuck! There must be a better way!"

"System! Can my suit be worn by others?!"

"Ding! People marked by the system can wear the suit! Marking requires manual operation by the host!"

"Mark them for me!"

Seeing a white light cluster from his body enter the foreheads of the mother and daughter, Watson quickly took off his helmet and put it on the little girl's head. Then he took off a pair of gauntlets and put them on the mother!

Then he carried the two of them and rushed out! When the flames were about to engulf them, it was as if they were blocked by a wall of air, unable to advance.

Just as the people outside, seeing the raging fire in the convenience store, all believed that the person who went in was beyond saving...

A dark figure rushed out!

It was Watson! And the mother and daughter!

"He made it! He made it! Haha!"

"Yay!!!"

"Woah!!! Haha!"

"That's awesome!"

Excited whistles and thunderous applause erupted from the surrounding crowd.

He retrieved the helmet, which looked a bit comical on the little girl's head, and the gauntlets from the young mother's hands. Hearing the doctors who arrived confirm that both were only unconscious and needed immediate treatment, Watson finally breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a great burden lifted!

At this moment, Watson felt that taking the lives of powerful enemies was far less difficult than protecting fragile, weak lives!

He put on his equipment, looked at his hands, and thought, "Hmm, this feeling is pretty good~"

"Nice job, buddy. What do you think tomorrow's headline will be? 'Monster Boy Rushes into Flames to Save Lives'?"

Watson looked at Coulson, who was walking over, and shook his head: "I just did what I thought was right, that's all. And that nickname sounds lame! I suspect your agency's name was made up by you!"

After saying that, he ignored the wryly smiling Coulson, looked around at the scene which was now under control, and bid farewell to Coulson again, turning to walk towards a distant corner.

--- Walking home, Watson suddenly thought of the looks and actions of the people around him when he first rushed out of the fire, and his steps became much lighter.

--- He stopped at his doorstep for a moment, then turned and walked towards Uncle Poke's house.

Click~

Opening the door, he found that Uncle Poke and Aunt Leah were not in the living room. Usually, they would be sitting there, drinking coffee and eating biscuits together! Watson, who had experienced so many battles, frowned. He walked towards the kitchen, then went upstairs to check the bedrooms.

Where did they go?!

Returning to the first floor, Watson quickly pulled out his phone, about to call Coulson.

Just then...

Click~

Watson quickly turned around, then let out a long breath—it was Uncle Poke and Aunt Leah!

"Where have you been? I—"

Before Watson could finish speaking, Aunt Leah stepped forward and hugged him.

"Oh, my child, let me see, are you alright? Did you hurt yourself?"

"No, I'm fine, Auntie. What's wrong with you?"

At this moment, Uncle Poke turned on the TV and sat down: "Hahaha! We saw it all! Son, well done! You have the demeanor of your Uncle Rocco back in the day! Hahahaha!"

And on the TV, it was the scene of Watson rushing out of the fire, saving a mother and daughter!

—Damn, I'm famous so quickly?! What happened to the plan of discreetly developing?!

And judging by the angle on the TV, it must have been filmed from a helicopter.

Sigh~ Watson sighed, thinking of a joke he once heard.

If a terrorist attack occurs in a city in the United States, who do you think will arrive at the scene first?

The Counter-Terrorism Rapid Response Force?

No! It's American reporters!
