Cornelia's POV
Every instinct in my body told me to flee. My gut twisted with warning signals, screaming that I was in danger. The way David's eyes blazed with an unnatural light and how his entire frame trembled made my skin crawl. His body radiated heat like a furnace, sweat coating his skin.
Yet I remained frozen in place. I couldn't run or call for help. One of his hands gripped me firmly while the other pressed against my mouth, silencing any sound I might make. Despite using only one hand to restrain me, his strength was impossible to escape.
"Cornelia," David's voice rumbled from deep in his chest, more animal than human. He brought his face inches from mine, his tongue darting out to taste my lips while that growling sound continued. "Cornelia, sweetheart, it hurts. The pain is unbearable."
