Caleb's POV

Colter remained completely silent. One minute crawled by, then another stretched endlessly.

I exhaled heavily, dragging my palm across my face. "Don't you dare judge me right now."

"Who said anything about judging?"

"That dead silence speaks volumes. You're definitely judging."

"I wasn't judging anything. I was processing the shock. What happened to your plan of returning home after five years?"

"Who told you I'm not going back?"

I could practically hear him arching that damn eyebrow through the phone. "You honestly believe you could divorce her and walk away once your emotions get tangled up?"

"What makes you think my emotions are getting tangled up?"

"Drop the act, Caleb. We both know exactly what would happen."

Another heavy sigh escaped me as I leaned back against the cold wall, sliding down until I hit the floor. My knees came up automatically, head dropping low while I balanced the phone on my shoulder. "You're being absolutely useless right now."
