Chapter 2 - unexpected intrusion

Chapter 2: Unexpected Intrusion

Lin Yue's phone buzzed as he was reviewing scripts in his apartment. A flurry of notifications from fans, agencies, and production staff scrolled across the screen. Normally, he would have ignored them all, but one message made him pause:

"Are you alone? Check your surroundings."

He frowned. It had come from an unknown number. He tapped the message again , nothing else, just the same line. His stomach knotted, an uneasy feeling creeping in. Probably just a prank… right?

Before he could think further, the faintest noise from the balcony caught his attention. A soft scrape, almost inaudible over the hum of the city. He froze.

"Krit?" His voice was low, cautious.

The guest room door opened, and Krit appeared instantly, his expression calm but alert. His golden eyes swept the apartment with precision, noticing details Lin Yue would never have considered. Every muscle was poised, ready to react.

"There's someone near the balcony," Krit said quietly. "I'll handle it. Stay inside."

Lin Yue's chest tightened, a mixture of fear and… something else. That spark from last night flared briefly, the part of him that couldn't help but notice Krit's quiet authority, his strength, and the way he moved without hesitation.

Krit moved toward the sliding door silently. Lin Yue watched, mesmerized, as if seeing him for the first time in full focus. He was tall, solid, every motion deliberate, yet fluid. The way he worked , calm, controlled, decisive , made Lin Yue's heart flutter in a way he didn't understand.

Seconds later, Krit returned, his expression unreadable but his stance relaxed. "False alarm. Nothing there. Someone was probably on a lower balcony, shadows from across the street. All secure."

Lin Yue exhaled, his hands trembling slightly. "Thank… thank you."

Krit nodded once. "If anything happens, I'll handle it. Your safety is my responsibility."

Lin Yue swallowed, words catching in his throat. Responsible… and yet… why do I feel so… He shook his head. Professional. Keep it professional.

Dinner passed quietly. Lin Yue barely touched the food, still distracted by the incident. Every so often, his gaze drifted toward the guest room door, imagining Krit standing there, alert, aware, watching. The spark of curiosity — tiny, subtle — refused to fade.

Later, Lin Yue checked his phone again. Another message appeared, the same unknown number:

"You're being watched. Be careful."

A chill ran down his spine. Krit, sensing the change in Lin Yue's demeanor, approached and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. Just that small touch, firm and steady, sent an inexplicable warmth through Lin Yue.

"Do not worry," Krit said softly. "I am here. No one will get close to you."

Lin Yue nodded, barely aware of the strange mix of relief and… something else, simmering quietly inside him. A spark. Small, fleeting, but undeniably there.

That night, as the city lights flickered through the windows, Lin Yue realized that his life had begun to shift. The calm he thought he had was gone, replaced by tension, mystery, and a presence he could neither ignore nor fully understand.

"Who are you really, Krit?" he whispered again, this time with a little more curiosity than fear.

And Krit, silent and composed, remained the ever-watchful presence in the room, leaving Lin Yue both safe… and unsettled.
