When Alexander returned home, Serena was still sleeping. He heaved a sigh of relief as he lay beside her.
Looking at the peaceful expression on his face, his expression tightened. Exhaling, he took hold of her hand.
"I won't let anyone hurt you. This is my promise to you." He planted a kiss on the back of her hand as a complicated expression flashed across his face.
"I know you'll do as you promised." Serena's light voice resounded causing Alexander to widen his eyes slightly.
"You are awake." He muttered as he helped her sit up.
"Hmm." She nodded. "I woke up when I heard the door creak open."
She turned to him with a soft smile on her face. "Why do you have such a complicated expression on your face?"
Alexander was about to say something when Serena cut in again.
"Is there anything wrong with the company? Are you facing any problems? You know you can tell me your problems, right?"
